 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: nautilus

update manager fails to fetch cdrom:[Ubuntu-Studio 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ -
 Release amd64 (20081028)]/pool/main/m/mawk/mawk_1.3.3-11.1ubuntu1_amd64.deb.
And, I cannot delete my effort to install UbuntuStudio, desktop, 64 AMD.iso
so I could then install Ubuntu 8.10 desktop 64 AMD.iso or to simply go back
to Ubuntu 8.04.1 Hardy Herron and allow the auto update function to
occasionally prompt me to update and be able to do that.

When I run update manager, this message pops out: Can't install
 'ubuntu-desktop'

It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a
 bug.
 Could not calculate the upgrade

A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
 Then, this analysis follows:
 This can be caused by:

Hi, I've documented a solution that used deb http://ubuntu-bug apt-get

Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.

then used a work around problem:
An error resulted as follows: E: Type 'sudo' is not known on line 57 in

Code: gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list [Entered password when prompted.
This opened the file /etc/apt/sources.list in a text editor as root
Next enabled line numbering in the text editor by going to
Edit--Preferences--View and check the line number box.
Then, I scrolled down to line 75 and completely removed the line, then
 saved
and followed by running the Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid installation update
that synaptic program manager had before it over the past three (3; or
was it four??) months? from notes eight months earlier I learned
Saved the file and closed the text editor. Go to
System--Administration--Synaptic Package Manager and click the Reload
button. then was able to download packages again.
While I had Synaptic open, went to Edit--Mark Packages By Task, a
window will pop up, just scroll down to Video Creation And Editing Suite
and marked it for installation; I believe this installed most of the
programs I need for what I want to do.

at least this report shows I am able to use this PC for 8.10 operations.

 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu

This is most likely a transient problem, please try again later.

Feranick, I just ran the update and got the following results:
k78...@kproductions:~$
k78...@kproductions:~$ sudo apt-get install -f
[sudo] password for k78724:

Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  linux-headers-2.6.28-11-generic linux-headers-2.6.28-11
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
