Re: [Bug 492990] Re: USB wireless adaptor (AW-NU221) recognises connection but will not connect in 9.10 - all ok in 9.04
UPDATE: installed Lucid 10.04 [64 bit 32 bit] - result... exactly the same as previous described for Karmic. USB wireless dongle works after the 'blacklist' edit but not without it [recognizes network but will not connect]. 3G dongle works before the edit and not after the edit. This is definitely a Gnome degradation, not just Ubuntu [see previous results]. Nice that 9.04 worked for everything 'out of the box' - not good that Gnome distros in general killed this functionality and [in my case Ubuntu itself with 9.10 distro now 10.04]. Annoyingly it all works under Windows - but no way am I going back to using that other than for providing support [yuk]. -- Regards, [SuperEngineer] -- USB wireless adaptor (AW-NU221) recognises connection but will not connect in 9.10 - all ok in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/492990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Jeremy, I've just tried the live CD of 10.04. Exactly the same as 9.10 - wireless network seen but will not connect [as I suggested previously, kernel driver suspected]. If the difference / change between 9.04 9.10 could be found the problem would be resolved instantly, I will try an install tomorrow to test the work-around I used in 9.10... Step1: add blacklist rt2800usb to: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf Step2: add rt2870sta to: /etc/modules Step3: Reboot. Step 4: Connxn works 'perfectly' [but slow].
