2010-03-29 Thread obgrotts
Alright, I have added the ppa to my ubuntu 9.10 by,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa
sudo apt-get update

So, now I need to install something from this PPA?
Thanks again,
Obadiah

A PPA is a sort of personal repository. We use them on launchpad to
hold and test development versions of packages that we need tested
before pushing them out to the official repositories.

Re: [Bug 520193] Re: No sound on Tecra M7 using Karmic

2010-03-29 Thread obgrotts
well, I installed linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.31-19-generic as WeatherGod
and I discussed using synaptic, but with no change to my low powered sound.
What about the version 2.6.32-13 on this link? Is that more of what Daniel
Chen is wanting me to install version wise?
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/ppa/+build/1512044

Thanks again

sorry, but can you break it down a little more? I understand you want me to
undo those changes I made, but what is it that you are saying I should do
after that?
Thanks again.

Re: [Bug 520193] Re: No sound on Tecra M7 using Karmic

2010-03-15 Thread obgrotts
Hey I just tried the fix under Volume rage anomalies at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems/KarmicCaveats#Volume%20range%20anomalies
to
no avail. I still have no sound from the computer's speakers, barely audible
sound from headphones, and limited sound with a pair of external speakers
through the headphone jack.
I edited both load-module lines just as prescribed. Is there anything else
that can be done?

Thanks again for your help,
Obadiah

After some on-site work, we have determined that sound is indeed
working, however it is *extremely* faint. We will now follow the
 directions at

to see if this helps to make the audio loud enough.
