File does not exist because update-notifier-common was not installed.

I just installed it, so let's see what happens.

Which problem exactly?  That on my Lucid (upgraded from Hardy -- is
yours a Hardy upgrade or fresh install?) machine, the same command
returns no result is most definitely the issue.  The question is
therefore, why does my machine have no output for that command and is
this a Hardy-Lucid regression?
