[Bug 89741] Re: Title bar not drawn on maximized windows when desktop effects are enabled
That's odd---I don't have that XAANoOffscreenPixmaps line in my xorg.conf, even after I enabled desktop effects. The effects still work (ie., wobbly windows), but the desktop is so glitchy that it's unusable. Here's the relevant portion: Section Device Identifier ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R100 QD [Radeon 7200] Driver ati BusID PCI:1:0:0 EndSection I just added the [ Option XAANoOffscreenPixmaps true ] under the BusID, and now 3d seems much faster, and the effects are faster too. I wonder why that option isn't added for the r100 automatically? I also tried Beryl, but their window manager doesn't work on this card and reverts back to metacity. Compiz however does now work with all that 3d goodness--except that the desktop goes white, and the bottom gnome -panel with my window list doesn't respond or update.. I tried killing nautilus, because it draws the desktop, but it was still white, even after it came back up. I attached a screen shot of what I mean. You can tell that compiz is working (shadows, alt + tab, all that) but the desktop is white and glitchy and gnome-panel at the bottom isn't working. ** Attachment added: screenshot of compiz glitchiness on a r100 http://librarian.launchpad.net/7135170/Screenshot.png -- Title bar not drawn on maximized windows when desktop effects are enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 102720] Re: Bash in Feisty is not compatible with LTP 20070331
Given the error, it is extremely likely that it is dash being used, not bash. Dash does not recognize syntax like $((foo--)), which is not required by POSIX (although, it also fails to recognize $((foo-1)), which is). If this is the case, the fault lies with LTP, which relies upon unportable syntax. The workaround would be to set SHELL within the makefile to bash, explicitly. [Bug 24867] Re: Strangely worded resize question
It has been a while since I last installed Ubuntu while keeping a Windows partition. Yet I can confirm the partition questions were strangely worded. For example, the installer asked for New partition size and maybe because I'm not a native English speaker but I had no idea if it meant Size of the new partition (the new partition created for Linux) or New size of the partition (the resized Windows partition). -- Strangely worded resize question https://launchpad.net/bugs/24867 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 97496] Re: CD start hangs -- buffer I/O error on fd0
Tested with: Ubuntu Live Daily Build 03-Apr-2007 17:51 I get the same error. I have not tested what disabling floppy disk drive support does. [Bug 85606] Re: [apport] totem crashed with SIGSEGV in FcConfigSubstituteWithPat()
Minor success. I can play the file now under totem, but when i seek to the end, totem crashes. If i try to generate a valgrind.log it crashes after showing the first frame (see attached log). The log looks very similar to the previous one, so i think nothing has changed. ** Attachment added: valgrind log http://librarian.launchpad.net/7135232/totem.log.1188 -- [apport] totem crashed with SIGSEGV in FcConfigSubstituteWithPat() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85606 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 75681] Re: boot-time race condition initializing md
okay, I can try to remove the evms-package and rerun update-initramfs this evening. I'm not shure if evms is installed but maybe it is ;) The biggest problem is, that the ubuntu installation on my desktop pc was dapper at first, where I installed a lot of extra software. Three weeks after the edgy release I upgrades from Dapper to Edgy and about 3 weeks ago I just wanted to do something new and upgraded to feisty. I can never be sure if a specific problem is a error in feisty or if it results because of some strange packages that remained from an earlier and dist-upgraded ubuntu version. maybe there are pontetial sources of error under this condition... I'll try to follow your advice to track down my screwed up lvm2 / evms problem. I don't know if it's usefull to file a bugreport for an allready know problem... Btw - (I know, that this is probebly not the right place for that question) - but what are the differences between lvm2 and evms ? *confused* Just wondering why evms might be installed on my desktop even if I don't need it because lvm2 is the logical volume manager of choice ... -- boot-time race condition initializing md https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75681 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 71560] Re: Crash information collection depletes resources, clogs up and crashes system
Hi, FiNaLBeTa [2007-03-30 9:44 -]: * bin/apport: Limit core dump size to 75% of usable RAM (MemFree+Cached-Writeback). This should avoid trashing people's boxes hard on huge core dumps. Bump dependencies on python-problem-report. Create an expensive, but realistic check for this in test-apport. (LP: #71560) 75%, what is this number based on? As the changelog says, it looks in /proc/meminfo and considers MemFree+Cached-Writeback as 'usable memory'. MemFree itself is ideally 0 (if it isn't, you have too much RAM), most of it is usually taken by cache. The write cache would cause trashing, but using the read cache is still ok IMHO. -- Crash information collection depletes resources, clogs up and crashes system https://launchpad.net/bugs/71560 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 70052] Re: opening a popup crashes firefox
Actually I'm not able to reproduce the crash because - as already explained - I started a new profile when this bug became really annoying ... What I can add that at this time I was using noscript, CuteMenus - crystal SVG and VideoDownloader extensions (sorry but I don't remind which versions, they changed a lot since) at least and they were probably located in a profile directory located on a vfat mounted partition, called in the local profile dir through a symlink eg: $ ls -l ~/.mozilla/firefox/r5fsd6.default/extensions [...] .mozilla/firefox/r5fsd6.default/extensions - /mnt/d/Profiles/Wouaib/extensions But I don't think this could really explain anything because I still work like this and don't have any problem -- opening a popup crashes firefox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/70052 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
