About the bug: upgraded to dhcp3-client 3.0.4-12ubuntu4, it SEEMS to be

an eye on it and will let you know if everything is finally OK!

Thanks everybody,

[Bug 103215] gacutil of mono hangs just after starting it

2007-04-05 Thread Nick Frolov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mono-gac

Gacutil hangs everytime when it is invoked. Hanging doesn't depend on
passed options, it occurs even on "gacutil --help" or on simple
"gacutil". There's no means to terminate it - neither with ctrl+c in
terminal, nor with sending TERM or KILL signals.

Version of mono-gac is 1.2.3.1-1ubuntu1. Distro used is ubuntu feisty
(up-to-date). I've encountered this bug when apt tried to update
libevolution-cil - preinstall script execution seemed to last forever,
after trying to kill processes it spawned gacutil was only that didn't
stop.

[Bug 103214] CD continously seeking - cannot install ubuntu

2007-04-05 Thread diviaki
Public bug reported:

Booting up from the live CD (7.04 actually) takes about 10 minutes on my Compaq
EVO N1020v laptop. I wonder if this is normal; the CD were seeking continously.
Then, when I click "Install", the seeking starts again, after 20 minutes the
pointer stopped responding, and after another 10 minutes I switched off the
computer. The CD kept seeking during that time.
I have experienced the same seeking for forever problem when clicked on the
"examples" desktop ikon, the window border appeared after 2 minutes, then
nothing happened and I closed down the window after 5 minutes.
I run a CD integrity test which was OK, also the memtest results are OK.

[Bug 103217] Gimp crashed without any apparently reason

2007-04-05 Thread Sergio Zanchetta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

I tried to open a gimp file (xcf) from a smb shared directory (ntfs filesystem

Then I copied the file locally and loaded with Gimp still opened.
I modified it and then saved in png and jpg format.
With Gimp and the file still opened I renamed both files (jpg and png) from the

I opened thunderbird for sending them, attached at the mail and when I was

Yuriy,

I have all of the latest updates as of 02:24 GMT, from the UK server. I had
guidance 0.8.0 ubuntu2 before my last update, and so the situation is the
same?

It does load the dialog now when you don't sudo it, but the xorg.conf settings
within it are incorrect (640x480 & VESA etc). The power settings are correct,
but then they are saved to a different configuration file.

[Bug 96709] Re: Printing test page (150K) not started after ten minutes

2007-04-05 Thread Michael Losonsky
I did the following:

"Edit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf adding a line "FileDevice
Yes". Then restart CUPS with "sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart".

simply adding "FileDevice Yes" as a line without quotes, of course. and
restarted

Then I entered

sudo usb_printerid /dev/usblp0
sudo usb_printerid /dev/usblp1
...

and tried this up to usblo10, but got these returns:

No such file or directory: can't open '/dev/usblp0'

I also tried:
   sudo usb_printerid /dev/lp0
and the return was:
Invalid argument: GET_DEVICE_ID on '/dev/lp0'

If I tried
  sudo usb_printerid /dev/lp1
the return was
No such file or directory: can't open '/dev/lp1'

Maybe GET_DEVICE_ID on '/dev/lp0' is significant? lp0 is LPT1, or?

[Bug 103219] [need-packaging] dvbstreamer

2007-04-05 Thread rpolach
Public bug reported:

DVBStreamer is a Linux application to stream a service from an off-air DVB
transport stream over UDP.
http://dvbstreamer.sourceforge.net/

What makes DVBStreamer different from similar applications?
First of all DVBStreamer streams the entire service, that includes the PCR PID
which some other applications assume is embedded in the video or audio packets.
Secondly the channels.conf file produced by the linuxtv.org scan application is
only used to initialise the list of services and multiplexes, the PID values in
file are not used. Instead the SI in the transport stream is monitored and
updated when the PAT and PMT tables are updated.
Finally DVBStreamer only retunes to a multiplex, if when switching services the
new service is on a different multiplex. This speeds up channel change quite
considerably.

---
This application should not be confused with another application with similar
name: "dvbstream" (which is already in universe):
http://www.t2-project.org/packages/dvbstream.html

[Bug 103227] Add last.fm "recommendations" playlist

2007-04-05 Thread Mikael Nilsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Amarok does not have an entry under last.fm radio for "recommended
radio"

It's easy to add, but an unexperienced user might find it hard to get
the right URL which for me (user=m94mni) is

lastfm://user/m94mni/recommended/100

It *does* have Neighborhood radio:

[Bug 44686] Re: Pressing multimedia buttons on laptop with lid closed should not turn on screen

2007-04-05 Thread Mike McWay
bug still relevant in 7.04 Feisty Fawn

don't think this is a screensaver problem as much as a power-management
problem. When I look at the Power History it shows that closing the lid
initiates DPMS Off but when pressing the multimedia buttons the computer
changes to DPMS On, turning on screen. only later when i open my laptop
lid does it show that the laptop lid is opened. unlike the original
post though, my screen eventually goes black as set to do, although not
sure about timing.

basically,
DPMS should not be set On when lid is down on laptop and multimedia buttons are
pressed.

different behavior may be desired on desktop such that the screen does
come on when keys are pressed, but on a laptop as long as the lid is
closed the screen should not be initiated until opened

[Bug 103223] Re: X doesn't load in Feisty (nVidia FX5500 PCI)

2007-04-05 Thread Rashid
OK insteading using loads of attachments I decided to put them all into
one file...here's the output of:

lspci -vv > lscpi-vv.log
dmesg > dmesg.log
cat /proc/version > proc_version.log
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

BTW, that's all on my working Edgy installation, not the Feisty LiveCD
in question. Its the same hardware, so shouldn't make a difference
right?

Sorry if I've done anything wrong...feel free to ask for more info (and
give detailed instructions on how to get it and put it here please :$)

[Bug 88213] Re: Feisty does not mount encrypted partition

2007-04-05 Thread vikingr
I have a very similar problem. My external HD (LUKS encrypted) doesn't
get mounted since yesterday's software update. Everything worked well
for me up to that update. Now I don't even get asked for a password,
when I plug in the HD. I also don't get any error message. When I use
cryptsetup LuksOpen and mount to access it manually, I can mount it
without any problems. If you need any logs, just name them.

[Bug 103246] Gnome-compiz-manager thrusts itself into .gnomerc

2007-04-05 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-compiz-manager

I have had problems during the late Feisty cycle during login, where my
window manager is not started. In the course of debugging this we found
the following in .gnomerc in my home directory:

export WINDOW_MANAGER=~/.gnome-compiz-manager/openbox

Apparently, that should not be there, and we should try to clean up the
cases where older versions of the package might have put it there.
