Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. [Bug 330824] Re: Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28
We might have a break in this bug. For those people who can reliably reproduce the problem, are you using ecryptfs, possibly extensively? Roland Drier has reported a potential lockdep report that might explain why some of us have had extreme problems reproducing the problem; namely we might not be using ecryptfs. See: http://lkml.org/lkml/2009/7/4/93 If so, there is a sample patch which **might*** fix this problem. See: http://lkml.org/lkml/2009/7/5/79 Also, if people could try building their kernel with CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING, that would be interesting to see if we get a lockdep report. If so, it might be that this bug has been around all along, but it's something about Ubuntu patches that makes it 100,000 times more likely to trigger. (In practice, it looks like it should only trigger on a truncate to a size which is not a multiple of the filesystem blocksize, not on an unlink --- but maybe there was a bug in the Ubuntu backports that made this possible to trigger on an unlink. This is only a theory, but it's the first lockdep report I've gotten that could at least potentially be related to this problem that to date, only Ubuntu users have been complaining about, even though at this point we've got a huge number of Fedora 11 users using ext4 w/o any problems.) -- Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 395321] Re: pygrub broken in xen-3.3 under Ubuntu 9.04
vronp: You appear to be running into a configuration issue with Xen; I'm fairly confident that it's unrelated to this bug. I've managed to reproduce this on Jaunty. It looks like the exception you're seeing is actually being raised in an exception handling clause, so it's squashing the actual error. If you just try to run `import curses; stdscr=curses.initscr()` in a Python 2.5 shell, you get: Traceback (most recent call last): File stdin, line 1, in module File /usr/lib/python2.5/curses/__init__.py, line 30, in initscr setupterm(term=_os.environ.get(TERM, unknown), NameError: global name '_os' is not defined This appears to be a bug in the python2.5 packaging, and not in Xen. Specifically, the patch debian/patches/curses-init.dpatch is incomplete. ** Changed in: xen-3.3 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Also affects: python2.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - pygrub broken in xen-3.3 under Ubuntu 9.04 + incomplete patch to curses module in python2.5 ** Description changed: - I believe this is an issue with the python 2.5 to 2.6 change and may - indicate other bugs. [Bug 111502] Re: network-manager unreliable with multiple APs
I'm having a similar issue. I have two APs at home, ober83in2 (the good one I want it to use, it's wpa-2) and ober83in1 (the bad one I don't want used). If I'm connected to ober83in2 and suspend the laptop and resume, network manager auto connects me to ober83in1! Is there a config file somewhere I need to edit to make sure it tries ober83in2 first? [Bug 258778] Re: Firefox 3 in Ubuntu- No text, just lines showing on most web sites e.g. google
I have the same problem on my Ubuntu Firefox, just lines but no text on many web sites, like google and cnn. No fonts were installed recently. The problem occurred immediately after I installed odvr (olympus driver -- it successfully downloads wav files from my voice recorder). Thinking maybe this would help: I upgraded to Firefox 3, but no luck. I've read over this page a few times. The font problem isn't mine. Otherwise I'm afraid I do not see instructions for a fix. If you like, I can install whatever font you like. A few months ago I installed some ornamental font and Liberation.
