[Bug 344878] Re: file name to long when creating new file (ecryptfs_lookup: lookup_one_len() returned [-36] on lower_dentry)
With regard to option 1, how about a mount option that would allow FNEK to fail gracefully, i.e., if the encrypted file name is too long then just use the unencrypted name on the lower file system ? This would make the user complicit in the decision to leak unencrypted file names. This would also at least allow programs to run (such as Evolution) that generate long meaningless file names. -- file name to long when creating new file (ecryptfs_lookup: lookup_one_len() returned [-36] on lower_dentry) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344878 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 374567] Re: tomcat6 with spring throws org/springframework/core/NestedExceptionUtils
Great! It would be even better if someone (you or I or an interested bystander) figured out just what permissions it really needs. I tried guessing, but that didn't work. Since (as is typical of classloader issues) it doesn't really tell you what went wrong, this probably needs either seriously systematic trial-and-error or setting up to attach a debugger. BTW, enabling security by default led to a bug in Apache Tiles getting fixed, so some good came of the experiment! [Bug 604874] Re: firefox fails to build from source with Linaro toolchain
Hmm ... actually there *is* code in the Mozilla sources to attempt to ensure proper alignment, in jsstr.cpp: #ifdef __SUNPRO_CC #pragma pack(8) #else #pragma pack(push, 8) #endif JSString JSString::unitStringTable[] #ifdef __GNUC__ __attribute__ ((aligned (8))) #endif = { U(0x00), U(0x01), U(0x02), U(0x03), U(0x04), U(0x05), U(0x06), U(0x07), However, the compiler does not respect the attribute. Minimal test case is: struct JSString { unsigned int mLength; static JSString unitStringTable[]; }; #pragma pack(push, 8) JSString JSString::unitStringTable[] __attribute__ ((aligned (8))) = { 1 }; #pragma pack(pop) Building this with g++ -S results in: .global _ZN8JSString15unitStringTableE .data .align 2 .type _ZN8JSString15unitStringTableE, %object .size _ZN8JSString15unitStringTableE, 4 _ZN8JSString15unitStringTableE: .word 1 .align 2 is wrong; this should be .align 3. Vanilla FSF GCC 4.4.4 gets this correct, so it does look like a Linaro GCC bug after all. Interestingly enough, the bug only happens with C++ class static variables; for "normal" global variables, the alignment attribute is respected correctly. [Bug 603022] Re: [MIR] mlterm
many terminal application are being translated and that is good news for many language user but for RTL users this mean problem. as I mentioned in my video comparison between Mlterm and Vte you will see unreadable messages from many APT related programs (apt-get ,apt- cache etc...) because they were translated into Arabic. and at TranslationProject.org there are many terminal software being translated. RTL user will have to read (package like egakcap) some says why bother using terminal, will at least half of the help out there is using terminal commands. do you want to try the "ls" command and check how does VTE show your folders? سطح المكتب (desktop) will look like بتكملا حطس (potksed) and the same with cd cat and nano. you can't use terminal apps dealing with RTL text probably. in short every action with RTL text in your system using terminal will need a RTL capable terminal. so every time you need a terminal we need a RTL terminal as I can see there is too many opposition to having RTL enabled terminal for RTL users. could we please have at least a suggestion when a localized system user try to open gnome-terminal that it has a known bug with RTL text and to suggest some thing else? here is a simple comparison video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H_HYkyD7wc and there more here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Mlterm -- [MIR] mlterm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603022 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

On Wed, Jul 28, 2010 at 4:50 PM, Alexander Sack wrote: > 2. use console to execute installation instructions or config file > adjustments to change the behaviour of the system. I think you got it right but I would like to note (regarding 2) that if a console program (with existing RTL translation) like apt-get, for example, is used and the locale env vars are set to some RTL language (by default) then the program output is unreadable (reversed) and I guess this is the main motivation for people wishing to include MLTerm. Possible solutions: * Don't translate console applications. * echo "export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8" >> ~/.bashrc A third use case would be: 3. Some programs embed Terminal emulators (like Ubuntu's good'ol Update Manager, used to display apt installation progress in a console) and this issue is not resolved by using MLTerm since it's not embeddable like vte is. -- [MIR] mlterm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603022 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 608775] Re: tools/perf: Symbol loading problems in perf report
Some patches merged into Arnaldo's perf/core branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/acme/linux-2.6.git: perf report: Don't abbreviate file paths relative to the cwd http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/acme/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=361d13462585474267a0c41e956f1a1c19a93f17 perf tools: Remove unneeded code for tracking the cwd in perf sessions http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/acme/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=88ca895dd4e0e64ebd942adb7925fa60ca5b2a98 There is still a problem with the build-id based caching done in new versions of the tools. This can be disabled by passing --no-buildid-cache to perf record (bit if there are stale files in ~/.debug you may still need to delete them in order for perf report to work properly). [Bug 610916] [NEW] gnome-do causes keyboard and mouse to freeze
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Lucid gnome-do 0.8.3.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1 I've had my keyboard and mouse lock up once or twice a day in Lucid until I recently noticed that when gnome-do crashes (it does that sometimes), there are no more freezes.
