[Bug 782783] [NEW] adopt ubuntu weblink in twitter-status

2011-05-14 Thread redtux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

When posting a message to twitter, the "via Ubuntu" info points to the
non-existing site https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gwibber. Please, change the
link to a valid site* or create an appropriate wiki-site.

* http://gwibber.com/
* https://launchpad.net/gwibber

In any case, the creation of the wiki-site IMHO should be considered
critical, as https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gwibber/FAQ and other relevant
sites also point to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gwibber and as gwibber is an
integral part of the Ubuntu Desktop and there does not seem to be much

[Bug 778261] Re: Xorg crash

2011-05-14 Thread Ondrej Certik
And it crashed again today. I will keep reporting every single crash.
There should be a pattern emerging, that hopefully will allow me to
debug what is going on.

Last crash was when I was accessing a web site in Chrome, just in the
moment when the website was to be rendered.

This crash happened again, when the site
https://github.com/ipython/ipython was about to be rendered in Chrome.

Not sure if this is to be considered a Firefox or X bug. If I open a
html file with some big font in it, like the one attached, as I start
scrolling up-down and left-right around the page the X process start
eating memory so fast that in few seconds the kernel starts OOM killing,
or it pages so violently it takes ages to kill X even using Alt -SysRq
-k. I've 3Gb of physical memory and gets filled in a matter of seconds.
If you manage to kill firefox in time X does not release the memory.

I consider this a really serious problem, and do not know whether is an
X or firefox problem. With chrome everything is ok.

qemu-kvm is still somewhat different from plain QEMU, even with
-no-kvm. Specifically the file where the crash happens only exists in
qemu-kvm.

In general, it's annoying to be bothered by bug report chatter of
other unrelated packages or for example distro packaging problems. In
this case, qemu-kvm and QEMU are very much related but this bug does
not happen to affect QEMU.

Maybe someone can unsubscribe qemu-devel-ml from this bug report,
please. Marking the bug 'Invalid' for QEMU didn't help. I couldn't
find anything from Launchpad docs and about 1,870,000 Google hits for
'unsubscribe launchpad' show that many others can't either.

Re: [Bug 782496] Re: boinc crashes with "*** buffer overflow detected ***" on startup

2011-05-14 Thread Steffen Möller
Hi Swen, have many thanks for rerunning with symbols.

@David: It's two bugs, confirmed on both 6.12.18 and
6.12.59 with Ubuntu.

It is apparently caused by a circular path below /sys
leading to an exceeded length of some internal path
representation. The first bug is that the recursion was
not noted (ten years ago I contributed that for WINE by
collecting the inodes that have been visited, there may
be better ideas now).

The second bug is that BOINC should just spot the long
path before there memory issue happens.

Best regards,

Steffen

Hello anton5
Sorry if I disturb but looking at your attached dmesg seems that your HD is

lines like these:

believe the problem is related to the Intel card and Xorg (ie. my crash

[Bug 781865] Re: Unity's top panel stops responding after some time after login (i.e. grabbing, double and middle clicking on it stops working).

2011-05-14 Thread DeadVirus
I think I've found the problem.

If I have an app like Pidgin maximized and then close it, but it keeps
running (like pidgin does, or thunderbird if you have a "close to tray"
add-on), the top bar will stop responding to window actions like slide
and double-click to restore window, middle-click to minimise, etc...

It also happens with Banshee, when you close it while it is playing (but
only if it was maximized).

2011-05-14 Thread Zorgo
i got the same problem after update from 10.10 to 11.04 ... black screen
after boot

quickfix:

1) press ctrl+alt+f1 and log in

2) delete file xorg.conf (sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf)

3) create new empty xorg.conf (sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf)

4) paste this in xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "vesa"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

5) save xorg.conf

6) restart X (sudo service gdm restart)

[Bug 782795] [NEW] GVIM is grouped into the pinned VirtualBox icon on the side bar.

2011-05-14 Thread Harkin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The GVIM window is grouped with the pinned VirtualBox icon on the side
bar and does not have an icon of its own. I suspect this has to do with
the way the task bar interprets names. There is no obvious or easy way
to split the icons so each can be pinned as separate tasks.

How to reproduce,
Install VirtualBox-4.0 from Oracle Repo, however I suspect the OSE will work.
Run VirtualBox and pin the task to the bar.
Install vim-gnome
run GVIM from the command line, it is not available in the search bar.
The GVIM task will group with the VirtualBox icon.

[Bug 780571] Re: The symbols side tab does no longer work.

2011-05-14 Thread themroc
Same here with the new version from backports or from Oneiric Ocelot
1:2.1.0~svn2010122beta5-1ubuntu1 :
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kile

The new version 1:2.1.0~svn2010122beta5-1ubuntu1 solves the
autocompletion problem (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kile/+bug/28 ) , but the
symbols side tab problem is still not working.

But I have found a version with solves both problems. The packages can be
downloaded from here:

[Bug 773988] Re: Upgrade netbook edition 10.10 to 11.04 fails

2011-05-14 Thread Fabio Marconi
Hello
If there's no space there's no space, but from the maverick you can try to
create a usb key of natty that ship a new installer that make possible upgrade
from the usb instead downloading all the packages.
I haven't tried this way so i cannot assure you about this.

[Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'

2011-05-14 Thread Rytis
Disabling compiz seems to have fixed the freezing.
There might be a shorter way to do this, but this is what I've done.:

In Ubuntu Software Center find and install Compiz Fusion Icon.
Run it:
Applications -> System Tools -> Compiz Fusion Icon.
Then on the blue icon that appears, right click, go to Select Window Manager,
and choose Metacity.

[Bug 633883] Re: [needs packaging] Mediathek

2011-05-14 Thread bojo42
the package is finally in unstable and therefore already synced for
oneiric. i am willing to do an upgrade based on this great achievement,
but i don't find a hint what git commit equals the 2.5.0 release, as
there is no source included in the releases since 2.3.0. can somehow
help out or do we need to get in contact with upstream?

anyway i pushed the latest version in debian as backports to my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~bojo42/+archive/mediathekview

BTW we probably should close this bug as we finally have a package in
the development series or change the topic in a backport request ;) thx
to all involved.

[Bug 772923] Re: BCM4312 on HP Mini 2133 freezes with Natty

2011-05-14 Thread brendonjoseph
Setting the user rights for wireless did not work for me either. I got
my HP2133 to work by upgrading the Kernel to 2.6.39.0 and also installed
Unity 2-D. I started off running Macbuntu on gnome but for some reason
this Kernel set the panel to the legacy Ubuntu 7 style so I went Unity
instead

Upgrading the Kernel to 2.6.39.0 is described at:
http://ubuntuguide.net/ubuntu-11-04-upgrade-linux-kernel-to-2-6-39-0

I figure to go up Kernel versions rather than down as there are probably
overall additional improvements that make a better experience.
