[Bug 793401] Re: Network Manager says Wireless is disabled, using Broadcom 0576 (rev 01) .

2011-06-06 Thread John McCabe-Dansted
This appears to also occur in Oneric Alpha 1. The machine is a Lenovo
E420. Unlike #705696, the wireless doesn't seem to work at all.

The patch hopefully improves the situation but that bug is probably
present in maverick's kernel 2.6.35 as well so there might be other
issues too.

[Bug 793559] [NEW] iPad IPSEC Reconnect Failure

2011-06-06 Thread Akagi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openswan

Hi,

I am trying to establish a IPSEC/L2TPD connection into my local
infrastruction. The remote system is an iPad. After some work I am able
to establish a connection. But only one time. If I disconnect and
reconnect it fails. Only restart of the ipsec daemon fixes this.

After some search I have no idea what causes the problem. I installed an
Openswan 2.6.33 directly, but this causes the same problem.

I will send the configuration files and logs directly.

Maybe someone can help.

Best regards!

Yes, in 10.10 OEM was working (as it shows in the results Jeff was
pointing), but it is no longer working in 11.04.

This is no longer blocking certification, though, so putting importance
to Medium.

Marc, can you get Keng-Yü the information required?

2011-06-06 Thread nutznboltz
Now all the /etc/motd.tail files have been clobbered by overwriting them
with garbage for the second time thats to this:

sysvinit (2.87dsf-4ubuntu17.3) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/sysv-rc/sbin/invoke-rc.d: replace RUNLEVEL with RUNLEVELHELPER.
Using RUNLEVEL causes spurious failures when invoke-rc.d is invoked
with RUNLEVEL already defined in the environment (as it is e.g. during
bootup) since invoke-rc.d's RUNLEVEL will become an exported variable
at that point and cause /sbin/runlevel to return bad data. (LP: #619246)

[Bug 755169] Re: Backport drush 4.4-1 from natty to lucid, maverick

2011-06-06 Thread anarcat
I agree this should be backported to maverick.

I have the test environment only for Lucid however, so I will do that
part.

I am the maintainer of aegir-provision in Debian, and it was removed
from unstable and squeeze, because that version is out of date, unstable
and unsupported upstream. It should also be removed from Ubuntu. I will
open an issue specifically about this.

[Bug 765136] Re: [natty] X often crashes since upgrade to natty

2011-06-06 Thread Geoffrey Pursell
I haven't done a bisect yet, but I did manually install the Linux
3.0-rc1 kernel from Oneiric and haven't seen this crash for several
days. The downside is that it looks like Natty's nvidia drivers won't
build on top of the new kernel, so I have to use Nouveau.

I found the same fix, but I had to set the refresh rate to more like

I just upgraded from ubuntu-9 to ubuntu-11.04. Running the default

(also FWIW this bug is a showstopper for me as far as adopting Unity

[Bug 793574] [NEW] Please sync offlineimap 6.3.3-3 (universe) from debian unstable

2011-06-06 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: offlineimap

Hi,
Please do a sync from debian of offlineimap. We can completely drop
the Ubuntu delta.

The latest entry in the Ubuntu changelog is :
> offlineimap (6.2.0.2ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low
>
> * Merge from debian unstable (LP: #605011). Remaining changes:
>- Use ssl.wrap_socket() instead of deprecated socket.ssl(); see changelog
> entry for 6.2.0+nmu2ubuntu1 for rationale.
>- Use python >= 2.6

I believe we can drop the 2.6 python requirement for 2 reasons:
a.) there is nothing less than 2.6 in the archive for oneiric.
b.) It was added to avoid a deprecated warning (bug 429655), that is
handled in offlineimap code now (so even python 2.4 users should not
 see this error)

We can drop the ssl.wrap_socket modification as it is also handled in
upstream now, with a 'try..except NameError' (see lines 187 at [1]).

I believe this sync will fix at least:
 * bug 792043 : issues with python 2.7.2
 * bug 675120 : offlineimap: fails to check the remote server's ssl certificate
is valid

2011-06-06 Thread Hendy Irawan
Deleted the "offending" notes again. Retried, and it still failed with
yet another different set of surrounding notes:

If there is a way to delete all 400+ notes on Ubuntu One quickly I would
have done it.

I believe we can drop the 2.6 python requirement for 2 reasons:
- a.) there is nothing less than 2.6 in the archive for oneiric.
- b.) It was added to avoid a deprecated warning (bug 429655), that is

We can drop the ssl.wrap_socket modification as it is also handled in

I believe this sync will fix at least:

Ok.. So, a lot more digging.

This issue appears to be fixed in offlineimap trunk, and is largely a dupe
of http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=569068.
, and in released version 6.3.3. Additionally, debian has 6.3.3-3, so I
will get that pulled into Ubuntu. I obviously should have checked there
first, and have requested sync from debian under bug 793574.

Previously, I had arrived at https://github.com/jgoerzen/offlineimap/wiki
(its the top hit on google), and then at
https://github.com/jgoerzen/offlineimap and, as a result was looking at
the wrong trunk. Apparently, I can't read a file named 'README'. Sorry
for that.

The only thing I would suggest is to remove or update the obsolete comment
in offlineimap/imaputil.py:WrappedIMAP4_SSL, that says:

It provides a better readline() implementation as impaplib's
readline() is extremly inefficient. It can also connect to IPv6
addresses."""

This class no longer has a 'readline', and python's socket performance
issues may have been fixed under current releases of 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, and
3.X (http://bugs.python.org/issue2632).

Again, sorry for the spam, and thanks for offlineimap.

That's why I miss its tooltip. I don't agree that it is a bug of panel
applets to rely on their tooltips. The bug is in the new indicator
applet and the report is here. Like 4 other comments above I'd welcome a
boolean in gconf to enable tooltips in the indicator applet. Forcing
changes in other projects is not nice and not ubuntu.

[Bug 779753] Re: T400 laptop. Freezes or mouse stutters. Kworker process using too much CPU.

2011-06-06 Thread chen wei
Poul,

thanks for the sharing. Now my R400 is usable again !!! :)
BTW, I'm not sure if this drm is the root cause, since one of my tricks to get
the "unusable" laptop back to work is to switch off the wlan/unplug the USB
mouse etc. As I reported earlier, the interrupts from graphic/ethernet and
other peripherals are extremely high when my R400 is not usable. I'm wondering
why these two symptoms are correlated.

[Bug 789226] Re: 11.04 with Software Raid5 fails to install correctly

2011-06-06 Thread Ed Barta
Yeah, I think that's the issue. Should the ls list MD127 as part of the
list of devices? How do I get GRUB to do that? Seems like there's a
problem with the installer and/or GRUB itself, since I stipulated the
RAID in the partition step of the installation.

So, in the meantime, how do I get GRUB to recognize the RAID? Maybe
that will lead to what's needed to correct the installer.

[Bug 774590] Re: An option to Purchase software is not visible in Ubuntu 11.04 S/w center

2011-06-06 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
As originally reported, this bug is Invalid. It is not necessary to
expand the "Get Software" branch to access paid applications: they are
included in the overall "Get Software" collection.

Nor is it necessary to expand the branch to access Independent
applications: they too are included in the overall "Get Software"
collection.

The reason I specified that the branches should be collapsed on first
launch is that the
child items are interesting only to people who need to see which items
are in which repository, and distracting to the majority who do not. I
think expanding them by default would be a regression.

And the reason I specified that the expanded or collapsed state should
persist between sessions is that remembering state is generally the
right thing to do. So I think resetting to expanded state on each launch
would be a regression too.

If we really thought all sources should be visible on each launch, there
would be little use in them being nested items at all -- they could be
top-level items, with a separator between the "Get Software" group and
the "Installed" group.

So, I would prefer it if the upload could be removed from -proposed, and
this particular change reverted from both 4.0.x and trunk. I'm sorry I
didn't see that this bug report had been reopened until now, because I
was busy working on the USC5 design. Incidentally, it is likely the "Get
Software" tree branch may be replaced by a single toolbar button, hiding
the individual sources even further.

- Nothing fixes the cpu frequency flickering. The laptop just shits on the
cpufreq settings and decides on its own, what is the best frequency for me.
Come on... Sucks.
- This "Load balancing tick" bullshit stopped when I downgraded my bios back to
the original version what the laptop had when it was shipped. I upgraded
recently to the newest version and it was my last idea like the root cause of
these problems. Laptop: Dell Latitude E4300, the BIOS version A06 again.
- But I got back an old bug with v2.6.39-rc4-natty kernel. Namely the backlit
of the LCD did not come back after resume. Nice. I switched back to the
original natty kernel and this problem seems to be solved also.

So the "workaround recipe" for Dell Latitude E4300 owners with this bug:

1. Downgrade the BIOS to an earlier version. A06 or A07 is a good candidate. (I
googled a manual to make a pendrive with bootable DOS and I downloaded the A06
BIOS "upgrade" file from the Dell site to the pendrive.)
2. If this bug still happens -> upgrade to Natty.

Other notes:
(3a. In any way, disable the bluetooth in the BIOS. It just makes problems with
suspend/resume and for me, an attempt to send file via bluetooth from my phone
made the laptop frozen with a kernel oops.)
(3b. I do not think so that it makes anything better, but I have installed the
latest Intel graphics drivers from the mentioned PPA in my previous comments.)

Uff.

[Bug 793586] [NEW] update-manager fails with E:Encountered a section with no Package: header'

2011-06-06 Thread Adalberto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Upon launhing update-manager GUI, it fails with 'E:Encountered a section with
no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/it.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages,
E:L'elenco dei pacchetti o il file di stato non può essere letto o aperto.'
The last message is localised, so I'll translate it in english here: 'E:Package
list or state file cannot be opened or read".
This same message shows at the end of "apt-get update" downloading process.
I've just updated to natty 11.04 via update-manager a few days ago.

You are using a kernel that has been accidentally pushed to lucid:
