[Bug 755406] Re: Mouse offset problem when using a WINE application maximized

2011-06-09 Thread tulskiy
As a temporary solution, you can maximise the window not with the
maximise button, but by double-clicking the title. This way window title
is duplicated, but there's no y-offset.

[Bug 737051] Re: [regression] Alps touchpad detected, but scrolling not working

2011-06-09 Thread naught101
Funicorn's workaround also works for me (although it's technically a
regression). But it appears to make external usb mice very jerky - eg.
3-4 fps or something, basically unusable. This basically means I have to
choose between being able to scroll on my trackpad, or use an external
mouse, but not both.

[Bug 794916] [NEW] initscript wrongly sets --script-security

2011-06-09 Thread Alexander Zielke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openvpn

The openvpn initscript wrongly sets --script-security 2 on the command line to
handle backwards compatibility, even if script-security is specified in the
config file.
This Bug is only triggered, if openvpn starts multiple daemons. If the first
daemon started does not have script-security in its configuration, the
initscript sets script_security but does not reset it for subsequent daemons.

Tested with 10.04, but the bug is present in 11.10 aswell.
I attached a patch that fixes the problem.

[Bug 794918] [NEW] Can not use or configure VPN via NM GUI on XFC/Xubuntu

2011-06-09 Thread Andreas Siegert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

When I try to import a VPN connection from an openvpn file that works on
the commandline, the definitions load just fine, but I can not save it
unless I enter the password for the key. Quite ridiculus, why should I
need to save the password?

If I manually enter a VPN definition I can save the configuration
without entering the password but trying to start it I get an error
message about not being able to get the credentials (I would have
expected a password prompt).

In syslog I find:

[Bug 783002] Re: Auto logoff ubuntu 11.04

2011-06-09 Thread Angelo Beernaert
I'm having the same issue on daily base.
Suddenly my system performs a logout.

I've tried the apport-collect 783002 command, but I get the error:

ERROR: connecting to Launchpad failed: 'NoneType' object has no attribute
'makefile'
You can reset the credentials by removing the file
/home/abe/.cache/apport/launchpad.credentials

I'm not familiar with apport, so I don't know why it doesn't work

[Bug 794920] [NEW] gimp + oxygen-gtk in kubuntu = segment fault

2011-06-09 Thread jenna
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

I'm using kubuntu 11.04 x86_64. I installed gimp from the package
manager. When I find gimp in the menu and click it's icon, gimp appears
in the taskbar for about 15 seconds and then disappears. It shows no
other signs of life. When I open a terminal and run the command gimp,
I get this text:

gimp:26284): GLib-WARNING **:
/build/buildd/glib2.0-2.28.6/./glib/goption.c:2132: ignoring no-arg,
optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of type 0
Segmentation fault

I searched a bit around and found a thread where an arch user was able
to fix a similar issue by changing his theme. (
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57948 ). I'm using KDE, and
I have oxygen-gtk set for running gtk apps. My root account is not
using this theme. So, I ran sudo gimp in a terminal and gimp starts
up as expected.

[Bug 794862] Re: Rhythmbox should exit on clicking X

2011-06-09 Thread Brendan Donegan
Hi,

When you say it doesn't quit on the X, do you mean that it goes to the
background (more like minimising) or it doesn't close at all? Either
way, the behaviour I get on clicking the X is for it to close completely
(quit).

I'm just wondering what you were expecting and trying to establish the
problem you're having.

Thanks,

[Bug 600178] Re: Screen tearing when dragging window, in videos and other large screen redraws (on nVidia GPU)

2011-06-09 Thread michal.gregor
For some reason the attached workaround seems to work for some people
(see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1742643page=4) including
me. I do not fancy having the whole screen redrawn on every repaint, but
it seems rather interesting that it works.

Also – the solution proposed in comment 41 (https://bugs.launchpad.net
/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/600178/comments/41) seems to indicate that
vsync for OpenGL works even though the one for x-server does not.
Unfortunately in dual-screen setup it only affects the main screen
(DFP-0), while the secondary screen continues to show tearing.

--- The mentioned workaround ---

Open CompizConfig-settings manager (if you don't find it, just install
it from Ubuntu Software Center).

Enable Workarounds - Force full screen redrews (buffer swap) on repaint
Disable Workarounds - Don't wait for video sync

Open NVIDIA X Server Settings

Enable X Server XVideo Settings - Sync to VBlanck
Enable OpenGL Settings - Sync to VBlank
Disable DFP...(name of your screen) - Force Full Gpu Scaling

Open Startup Applications and add a new program:

Name: antitearing
Command: bash -c sleep 2; compiz --replace

Reboot

[Bug 794923] [NEW] Kubuntu network module doesn't allow writing an IPv6 DNS server

2011-06-09 Thread Iñaki Baz Castillo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Not sure if this issue is related to NetworkManager package. I thin
it's more related to Kubuntu network settings.

I click in network settings icon in the systray, open my WiFi
configuration and try to set a IPv6 (i.e: 2620:0:ccc::2) as DNS
nameserver. The text box doesn't allow it to me as it seems to validate
the input against an IPv4 regular expression. Neither writing an IPv6
referece (this is: [2620:0:ccc::2]) does the work.

So honestly I don't know if it's an artificial limitation in KDE network
module, or maybe it relies on NetworkManager itself which doesn't
support an IPv6 as DNS nameserver.

[Bug 794715] Re: Hardy Xen i386 DomU: CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO disabled

2011-06-09 Thread Stefan Bader
** Description changed:

+ SRU Justification:
+
+ Impact: The COMPAT_VDSO option will cause the VDSO segment (32bit) to
+ appear also at its old, non-randomized place. It is only required for
+ older libc versions. 10.04 already is at a newer level and the generic
+ build has it turned off.
+
+ Fix: Turn the option off for the custom-binary-xen (i386) build as well.
+
+ Testcase: QA regression testing will fail with this option turned on.
+ Verified it is running successfully in a Hardy VM using the -xen kernel
+ in dom0, as well as running it as domU on EC2 (m1.small).

[Bug 794932] [NEW] Empathy doesn't open URI with particular characters

2011-06-09 Thread neuromancer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Empathy 2.32.1 - Ubuntu 10.10
I have received a link
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpmyadmin/files%2FphpMyAdmin%2F3.4.2%2FphpMyAdmin-3.4.2-all-languages.tar.gz/download#!md5!589b26fa2f1bdb21b4114f3be6aa3b65
) in a chat, but when I click it, empathy doesn't open it but instead appear
a popup that report:
Unable to open URI - Operation not supported

The link point to the latest version of phpmyadmin, and with a cut and paste in
a browser, open the download dialog.
I think the problem is related to this particular URI because other URI work
right, opening in the default browser (Firefox).

[Bug 794925] Re: Firefox 4.0.x should be in Lucid Updates Repository

2011-06-09 Thread Shimi Chen
It is the Ubuntu project's policy to not bump major version numbers of
applications in a specific release. This has many reasons and is not
likely to change soon.

This is especially so in an LTS release such as Lucid where you can only
expect fixes of security issues and bugs.

If you would like to express your opinion, please do so where it is
appropriate, such as Ubuntu Brainstorm or a relevant mailing list.

[Bug 794943] [NEW] dosfslabel stops with Seek to 12345678: invalid argument on FAT32 volumes

2011-06-09 Thread Andreas Heinlein
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dosfstools

dosfslabel stops with the error: Seek to 12345678: invalid argument
(numbers vary, even among several attempts on the same device).

Bug has already been reported and fixed in Fedora
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=693662), but obviously not
upstream. Bug is also present in Debian up to experimental. The patch
attached to above report works for me on natty (dosfstools-3.0.9), but
not on lucid (dosfstools-3.0.7).

I have converted the patch to a dpatch and attached it.

Please send this one upstream (again) and to debian as well.

** Affects: dosfstools (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Re: [Bug 780630] Re: Unity top panels, Notification area not responding

2011-06-09 Thread gil
Strangely, it seems to be correlated to whitelisting the fusion-icon; when I
reverted to a manual list, the problem went away, but when I've added
'fusion-icon' to the whitelist, once again I had to 'reload window manager'
to be able to interact with notification icons.

Thanks for the work-around (the unity --reset); I'm using the compiz reload
window manager, but only tried it following reading about your work-around.

[Bug 778414] Re: gimp crashes on starting (segfault)

In duplicate bug 794920, it was posted a link to a Debian bug covering
this issue (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=624693).
However it seems to have been closed due to inactivity. Perhaps it
should be notified that it is present in Ubuntu as well.

I tried attaching a bug watch (also affects distribution) , but
Launchpad just keeps timing out right now.

[Bug 794907] Re: translated package descriptions in aptcache get reset on dbus activation

2011-06-09 Thread Michael Vogt
After more debugging it appears the problem is deep inside apt, the following
commit fixes it for me:
  http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mvo/apt/mvo/revision/1797

@Hendrik:
Just to confirm, what you see is that the package descriptions are not
translated when using software-center as well, right?

[Bug 787481] Re: Xine has video but no sound

2011-06-09 Thread Robert Bu
I had very close situation - upgraded to 11.04 amd64, some pulseaudio and
gstreamer Installations ...
And no sound with xine-ui -- but Subtitle Composer worked fine with xine

Found out that xine has some amplifier level (additional to the volume) - this
was zero ...
Shift-Ctrl-Vinside xine-ui

Maybe its the same ...

[Bug 711746] Re: Right click menu for indicators has corrupted background

2011-06-09 Thread Oleg O Andreev
BTW, Jim Bauwens patch fixed the background issue, but the menus were
still a bit crumpled due to xthickness/ythickness = 0. The issue was
fixed completely for me by changing the line

widget *PanelApplet*style panel

to

widget_class *PanelApplet*style panel

On a side not, I do hope, themeing Gtk+3 will be easier than this mess.

[Bug 794953] [NEW] Google Chrome cannot display Hindi fonts

2011-06-09 Thread Silver Moon
Public bug reported:

The xml given on this page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts
by Obi Bok
if it is put in ~/.fonts.conf file , then hindi and many other languages are
not displayed in google chrome browser.
Square and boxes appear instead.

Checked it on Ubuntu 9.10 - 11.04 and all versions of Google Chrome.

If that xml is removed , then google chrome shows hindi fonts fine.

Today, I'm working on Odp files and the bug happened 3 times :
1. Adding a slide
2. Making a tool visible in a toolbar
3. no idea of the circonstances

Each time I had to quit every LibreOffice module to free the Unity-dock.

I twice tried to provoque the bug again but it did'nt repeat.
