[Bug 912157]

2012-01-05 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/912157/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 863394] Re: kernel fails to notify IPv6 allocation correctly.

2012-01-05 Thread Herton R. Krzesinski
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem (2.6.32-38.83). Please test the kernel and update this bug
with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag
'verification-needed-lucid' to 'verification-done-lucid'.

If verification is not done by one week from today, this fix will be
dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

1. Start LibreOffice Writer
2. Add new printer in Cups
3. Open the print dialog

EXPECTED:
You can see the newly added printer

OBSERVED:
Printer is not there. You need to colse Writer and open it again for it to
notice the printer.

P.S. OpenOffice didn't have this problem, I could even start/stop cups
and Writer would update printing dialog correspondingly.

[Bug 911871] Re: FTBFS on amd64, i386 for test-rebuild-20111222 (gcc-4.7)

2012-01-05 Thread Colin Watson
This looks correct to me. i requires the operand to be a compile-time
constant. In general, the memory location of a multi-dimensional array in C
isn't constant at compile-time. Now, as it happens, for ((char *)
sb_sample_f[1][0][0] - (char *) sb_sample_f[0][0][0]) to be particularly
meaningful probably requires the array to be declared directly rather than
dynamically
allocated, so in practice that *difference* probably is a constant; but proving
that requires the compiler to reason across function boundaries in quite
complex ways.

Changing this to r looks sensible to me.

[Bug 879790] Re: Sound doesn't play properly after upgrade from 11.04-11.10

2012-01-05 Thread Madis Allikmaa
When I boot up with Unity 3D, then for some time the sound seems OK. But
as I launch programs or use some graphics effects (like SUPER+W), then
the sound is immediately distorted and remains that way.

I can't seem to trigger the sound to go nuts in Unity 2D mode.

[Bug 912232] [NEW] Audio output fails on resume from hibernate, Dell Vostro, Ubuntu 11.10

2012-01-05 Thread Dr Michael Brooks
Public bug reported:

Platform: Ubuntu 11.10 running latest ALSA, PulseAudio and outputting
via a M-Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard.

Trigger: On resuming a session from hibernate

Expected behaviour: I should be able to output audio from the selected
default device in Settings - Sound, much as I was able to do so before
hibernating.

Actual behaviour: Unable to get any audio from M-Audio 1010LT. Going to
Settings - Sound and reselecting the device fails to enable audio
output. Killing pulseaudio from terminal (pulseaudio -k) which causes a
respawn fails to correct issue.

Essentially it's high time we sorted out this Linux audio joke of a
configuration. Many many people have spoken about and recognised the need to do
this, but only Canonical Ubuntu really have the power to do it. PulseAudio /
ALSA / Jack constantly compete for exclusive access to sound devices, which is
no wonder the spaghetti network fails on resume.

I'd suggest binning Pulseaudio / Gstreamer etc entirely, and reducing
audio management down to two layers: the driver, and the mixer. ALSA
does both nicely. Develop a GUI mixer for ALSA as the standard Ubuntu
desktop mixer, and develop a Pulseaudio like ALSA plugin that allows
programs which will normally only talk to Pulseaudio, think that ALSA is
Pulseaudio. Also force ALSA to select default sound device by name
rather than by hw:# identity which can change on reboot.

[Bug 910561] Re: Chromium PPA builds failing: Stable and Beta channels (chromium_useragent.patch does not apply)

2012-01-05 Thread Miklos Juhasz
The Chromium 16 source in my ppa is a sheer copy of what is in chromium-
stable (other than the user-agent patch fix and the unity-service
patch).

In my diff I see that nacl is actually disabled:

# Disable NaCl until we figure out what to do with the private toolchain
GYP_DEFINES += disable_nacl=1

BTW, a quick search between Chromium issues brought up similar errors to
yours (e.g. issue 94518).

[Bug 912235] [NEW] no sound in audio records

2012-01-05 Thread melchiaros
Public bug reported:

My sytem is not able to record audio from microphone.

I ve tested the microphone on other system, where it works, so this is
related to gnome-media package, kernel or hardware itself.

I ve filed it here, because I do not know it better.

When there are any files I can additional provide, run any commands or
doing other stuff, tell me.

Iǘe installed precise direct on hardware, so the audio recording
problems are not related to virtualisation software.

[Bug 893644] Re: Onboard got random resize on usecase touchscreen

2012-01-05 Thread marmuta
from comment #9:
 3. (not really sure, but i don't remember that issue), in unity 2D : i can
 see the
indicator, preference window, but nothing more (floating icon nor keyboard)
 ill
check if a bug is opened.
I remember working on this at some point. This may be a glitch of the snapshot
only, if you have the chance please try the final 0.96.2.

In preference window, should have a checkbox to diseable the resize of the
 floating icon and keyboard
Francesco and me discussed this, but decided to first try an approach that
didn't require an additional preferences toggle.

from comment #12:
 c. for the keyboard, this trick should resolve it exept in this example: you
 have
keyboard transparented, you are scrolling your page (drag page in firefox
mobile for example) but you can clic on the 1px and resize. when you are in
a form page, you doent want to go floating between each field.
I see what you mean. The next release will have real auto-hide, which will
probably mitigate this.

[Bug 893214] Re: Dash - Most Frequently Used apps change to Recently Used, without Launcher favorites

2012-01-05 Thread Mikkel Kamstrup Erlandsen
My attached branch does as requested; modulo a bug in how we query
Zeitgeist.

FIXME: For some reason the query we send doesn't get the apps sorted for
most recent, but some other hard-to-decipher way. If I send an identical
query from the 'talis' command line tool I *do* get the correct sorting.

[Bug 912239] [NEW] Firefox doesn't fire resize events when using aero snap feature of GNOME-Shell

2012-01-05 Thread Ben Konrath
Public bug reported:

% lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.10
Release:11.10

% apt-cache policy firefox
firefox:
  Installed: 8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.3
  Candidate: 8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.3
  Version table:
 *** 8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.3 0
500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-security/main amd64
Packages
500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages

Here are instructions for reproducing the bug:

1. Load the following page in an unsnapped Firefox window:

http://bagu.org:8080/OnlineGlomDemoFirefoxBug/#details:document=debian_repository_analyzertable=packages

2. Expand the Firefox window to be horizontally smaller and larger. The
value of the Description field will expand and contract as the browser
is window size is increased and decreased.

3. Now snap the Firefox to the left side of the screen and then unsnap
it.

Expected Result:

The Description field contract to the correct size because the resize event is
fired.

Actual Result:

The Description field is not contracted because the resize event isn't
fired.

The GWT source code that reacts to the resize event can be found in this
bug:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=667269

[Bug 893644] Re: Onboard got random resize on usecase touchscreen

2012-01-05 Thread marmuta
I see there is still an issue with accidental resizing at least of the floating
icon.
Please help me answering some questions to get a better feel for this:

- How frequently do you have to move the floating icon?
- Out of ten tries, how often does an attempted move result in resizing?
- Which resize corners/edges do you hit most frequently by accident (left,
left-top, top, right-top...)?
- What's your screen resolution?
- What's the size of your floating icon? Best attach the output of
  gsettings list-recursively apps.onboard

Unrelated question: how do you manage to move onboard or the floating
icon with Unity MT grab handles? I get them for all other windows, but
they never show up for onboard.

[Bug 859539] Re: usb-creator-gtk fails to install bootloader: System policy prevents installing the bootloader

2012-01-05 Thread Hein
It applies to me as well, but after entering my password my USB stick
works: it boots nicely with Lubuntu. Question is: is this (still) a bug?
It isn't very user friendly though to provide a pop up message referring
to system policies.

[Bug 749986] Re: Resizing LO window from bottom right brings up pop-up and undesirable effects

2012-01-05 Thread Britt Yazel
This really really needs to get fixed for ALL versions on Libreoffice. I
am not a developer so I cannot fix this, but I know it is localized to
Ubuntu, and is VERY important. I know people who have been critisizing
Ubuntu for being unprofessional for a bug as big as this remaining for
well over a year now.

 Hi Andrej!

 IT WORKS Amazing!

Great job! Thanks for the effort!

I compiled and installed. fprint_demo GUI.

So if anybody wants to give it a shot here is what I did:

 I have Ubuntu 11.10 64bit

I have installed fprint_demo from repositories.

 Now download fprint:
 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libfprint/libfprint/snapshot/v_0_4_0.tar.gz
 and download the driver:
 https://github.com/andree182/vfs301/tarball/master
 uncompressed them!

Now from the driver copy all the files:
 libfprint/vfs301.c
and all the files on the other folder
 cli/vfs301_photo.* (they are 3 files)

So copy all them on the libfprint uncompressed folder
 v_0_4_0/libfprint/drivers

Then in a Terminal apply the patch:
 $ cd  ~/v_0_4_0
 $ patch -p1  ~/Desktop/integrate_vfs301.patch
 $ ./autogen.sh
 $ make
 $ sudo make install

 Restart the Computer

then test it try in a Termal
$ sudo fprint_demo (I assume that you installed from repositories)

Hope to see it in upstream soon!

[Bug 909723] Re: Issues with Volume Control on Lenovo R61i

2012-01-05 Thread adecker
When I look in sound settings I see two labels on the volume slider:
unamplified and 100%. I'm not exactly sure what 'unamplified' means, but
I know at that point my sound is effectively muted. That's a problem
because unamplified is at about 75% of bar, leaving few useful volume
settings.

easy way by assigning the middle mouse button to windows movement in
expo-mode, which is a minor pain... I have done it and I suppose I will

[Bug 788403] Re: LibreOffice Calc cannot 'Save File As'

2012-01-05 Thread Guillaume
Hi,

You're using slashes in the filename, it is not recommended as the slash
symbol is considered as directory separator, so Libroffice is trying to
save the file as 3.ods in the directory 21-6 in the directory Joshua
Fallaw time sheet 5, that don't exist. You should use another separator
instead, like '-'.

Starting lirc gives the following error:

[Bug 912254] [NEW] Please upgrade to 8.3.12 for Precise

2012-01-05 Thread Numérigraphe
Public bug reported:

DRBD 8.3.12 was published recently and makes DRBD more robust in the face of a
network or storage failure.
Furthermore, DRBD 8.3.12 will probably be the last 8.3.x revision, because 8.4
is out.
I think that makes it a good candidate for inclusion in the upcoming LTS, so
would you please consider upgrading the DRBD packages?

[Bug 912119] Re: incorrect printing to a PDF-file

2012-01-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 523484] Re: ureadahead requires /var on root filesystem

2012-01-05 Thread rollercoaster
The fix linked in #29 is better and easier. I don't like to have variable files
on / . Thats why we use seperate /var partitions ;)
This is the change to the upstart conf:
sudo sed -i 's+^start on starting mountall+start on mounted MOUNTPOINT=/var+'
/etc/init/ureadahead.conf

@Alf Gaida
heretic question: is ureadahead installed in Ubuntu Server? ;)

But I'm also very disappointed of 10.04. It should not be called LTS, it
should be called Unsupported. I think we can wait until zappy zebra
for this to be fixed.
