[Bug 1049297] Re: Unable to open DBF file with Calc

2012-09-11 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Martin Auger, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to
make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1049297
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and
the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

As well, could you please attach the file that demonstrates this
problem?

In addition, you mentioned in your Bug Description the feature was
working. In what specific version of LO was this working in?

[Bug 1034962] Re: bacula dependency on bacula-server fails with held broken packages

2012-09-11 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Douglas, or anyone else affected,

Accepted bacula into oneiric-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bacula/5.0.3-1ubuntu5.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1049307] [NEW] FWTS reports several HIGH failures on an server

2012-09-11 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

Ran fwts as part of the certification suite on a server and noted
several HIGH level failures causing our test to fail. All of the
failures were from the dmi_decode test and I was able to manually
confirm this.

The first one is from the Chassis info (Type 3):

00018 dmi_decode FAILED [HIGH] DMIInvalidHardwareEntry: Test 1, Unmatched
Chassis Type SMBIOS
00019 dmi_decode Type 3 reports 1c ACPI FACP reports 3

Here is the actual output from dmidecode:

Handle 0x0003, DMI type 3, 22 bytes
Chassis Information
Manufacturer: Acer
Type: Blade
Lock: Not Present
Version:
Serial Number:
Asset Tag:
Boot-up State: Safe
Power Supply State: Safe
Thermal State: Safe
Security Status: None
OEM Information: 0x
Height: Unspecified
Number Of Power Cords: 1
Contained Elements: 0
SKU Number:

And the DTMF standard says this in section 7.4 (grokked from the fwts log
advice):
1Ch Blade. An SMBIOS implementation for a Blade would contain a Type
3 Chassis structure for the individual Blade system as well as one for
the Blade Enclosure that completes the Blade system.

The rest are related to several DMIValueOutOfRange errors. I will let
you look at those via the log file.

+ Note that by default in Ubuntu, we only have one session in 12.10. So

[Bug 1049314] [NEW] glance-registry package drops incorrect logrotate config

2012-09-11 Thread Justin Shepherd
Public bug reported:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=precise
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Package: glance-registry (2012.1.3+stable~20120821-120fcf-0)

# cat /etc/logrotate.d/glance-registry
/var/log/glance/glance-api.log {
daily
missingok
compress
delaycompress
notifempty
}

-

The logrotate.d conf file points to the wrong log file (glance-api.log
instead of glance-registry.log)

-

The /etc/glance/glance-registry.conf file shipped with this package sets
/var/log/glance/registry.log as the log file, where the logrotate.d conf
file points to a different file than the default configuration setting:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/precise/glance
/precise-updates/view/head:/etc/glance-registry.conf#L16

[Bug 1039143] Re: 046d:c52b USB3 port Logitech mouse using unifying receiver not always detected

2012-09-11 Thread Rainer Rohde
I noticed that this is strictly a USB3 issue. I had a MacBook Pro (USB2
only), and this particular Logitech Trackman with Unifying Receiver
worked just perfectly on 12.04 and early builds of Quantal.

Then I moved to a Dell XPS (USB3 only) and it started to fail.

Then I moved to my current ASUS G75 (USB3 only) and both 12.04 (that I
fell back to for other reasons) and now again Quantal, all the way up to
beta1, have issues with recognizing the Logitech device.

As a side note, an older, WIRED Logitech Trackman of mine works
perfectly fine on USB3, regardless of 12.04 or Quantal.

From what I can tell this issues is really with USB3 and the Logitech
Unifying Receiver.

[Bug 1048045] Re: PDF Chain errors when attempting to concatenate PDF files

2012-09-11 Thread Lutz Andersohn
I just encountered the same problem. Trying to concatenate two PDF files: one
file generated with LibreOffice, the other scanned.
If I use the LibreOffice PDF file as first file followed by the scanned file,
PDF Chain works. The other way around (scanned PDF first, followed by the
LibreOffice PDF file), PDFChain/pdftk fails. Both files are located in the same
directory, so I doubt it's a $PATH problem

Console Output in the first case:
PDFTK command:
pdftk
A=/home/andersl/Desktop/Link_AutoRefractor_ProjBook/RootCause_Reports/RootCause_Report_CameraFreeze_bug_181_207.pdf

B=/home/andersl/Desktop/Link_AutoRefractor_ProjBook/RootCause_Reports/RootCause_Report_CameraFreeze_bug_181_207.sig.pdf
 cat A1-endN B1-endN output
/home/andersl/Desktop/Link_AutoRefractor_ProjBook/RootCause_Reports/gaga.pdf
allow AllFeatures
PDFTK returned: 0

Console output in the second case:
PDFTK command:
Error: Given handle has no associated file:
   B, used here: B1-endN
   Exiting.
Errors encountered. No output created.
Done. Input errors, so no output created.
pdftk
A=/home/andersl/Desktop/Link_AutoRefractor_ProjBook/RootCause_Reports/RootCause_Report_CameraFreeze_bug_181_207.pdf
 cat B1-endN A1-endN output
/home/andersl/Desktop/Link_AutoRefractor_ProjBook/RootCause_Reports/gaga4.pdf
allow AllFeatures
Input/Output Error - PDFTK returned: 256

[Bug 1049307] Re: FWTS reports several HIGH failures on an server

2012-09-11 Thread Colin King
FACP Preferred_PM_Profile type 3 is a workstation, DMI type 1c is a
blade, so this looks like the FACP is a little bit misleading.

The FACP should be probably set to one of:

4 -Enterprise Server
5 -SOHO Server
7 - Performance Server

..but probably not 3 (workstation). This probably needs some discussion
with the BIOS vendor to see if this is really going to affect the way it
works, as the ACPI may be tuned for this profile or perhaps it is a
genuine mistake.

[Bug 1049307] Re: FWTS reports several HIGH failures on an server

2012-09-11 Thread Colin King
@Jeff, as it is, this probably needs some investigation, but I don't
think it's going to cause any grief to the way the machine fundamentally
behaves. I think we need some feedback from the vendor to see what they
say about this discrepancy.

2012-09-11 Thread Nekhelesh Ramananthan
Thank you for reporting this bug to make Ubuntu better. I cannot
reproduce this on my system, however it is hard to not believe the
screenshot. This is indeed a strange issue. Could you please try the
following?

1. Trying resetting unity to its factory setting by typing the command
unity --reset without the quotes.

2. Try reproducing this problem on a new user account.

Please confirm again if you still face this issue.

[Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash

2012-09-11 Thread Rocko
Yes, you're right, those NVRM messages are fine - they just say that the
driver found a couple of nvidia GPUs. I was wondering if you were
getting Xid errors or the 'attempted to yield the CPU in atomic mode'
mentioned earlier in the thread. Your issue might still be an nvidia
problem - if the nvidia module locks up the kernel it can stop any
further logging - but it might be a separate issue with X or unity. If
you can do so, you could try removing one of the GPUs - I vaguely recall
seeing other bugs related to running two nvidia cards.

Copying from Eucalyptus, and given my changes in the linked branch here, maas

[Bug 1049123] Re: sssd fails to resolve names properly; replacing 'id_provider' by 'domain_type' in sssd.conf fixes it, but this is documented nowhere

2012-09-11 Thread Jakub Hrozek
I suspect that you are hitting upstream bug
https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/ticket/1436 that was fixed in the upstream
release 1.9.0 beta 7 (commit bdbf4f169e4d5d00b0616df19f7a55debb407f78)

I'm not sure where the domain_type comes from, the SSSD has no option
called domain_type. If it fixed your problem, it must have been purely
by accident.

[Bug 1049186] Re: sssd forgets group memberships of foo when foo logs in; remembers them after ten seconds after restarting sssd

2012-09-11 Thread Jakub Hrozek
Without the SSSD logs it's hard to tell for certain, but I suspect this
is caused by enumerate=True in the sssd.conf config file.

The reason why the groups seemingly appear after about ten seconds is
that after the SSSD provider starts up, the enumerate task is scheduled.
In general, it *should* block the NSS operations until the initial
enumeration has completed, though.

Is the behaviour reproducable within a single SSSD session? In other
words, if you log in after the ten seconds have passed and the getent
command reports correct group memberships, does groups still show
wrong membership?

Also, is there a particular reason to use enumerate=True?

that the network configuration is not valid
- You can't netboot if your DHCP server doesn't supply a router option without
supplying a gateway interactively

There's also a no_default_route option given by 'debconf dumpdb' on a
part-booted machine. I've yet to find any documentation of this or any
evidence that it has an effect (also, assuming 'default route' ==
'gateway', using the synonym in one setting is unhelpful).

[Bug 651571] Re: When wireless hard switch turned on, does not show networks in range -- Atheros AR5001 ath5k

2012-09-11 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: network-manager

  1) lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
  Release: 10.10

  2) apt-cache policy network-manager
  network-manager:
    Installed: 0.8.1+git.20100810t184654.ab580f4-0ubuntu2
    Candidate: 0.8.1+git.20100810t184654.ab580f4-0ubuntu2
    Version table:

  500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  3) What is expected to happen is Network Manager populates networks
within range immediately when ones wireless hardswitch is turned on,
whether the ethernet cord is plugged in or not.

  4) What happened instead is when the wireless hardswitch is off, ethernet
plugged in, one removes the ethernet cord, then within seconds turn the
wireless hardswitch on so the WiFi indicator light is on, no networks are in
range, even after waiting a few minutes.
Please see screenshot.png for scenario where the ethernet cord is plugged in,
wifi switch on and no wifi networks populate Network Manager.

WORKAROUND: In Ubuntu 10.10 reboot the pc with the ethernet cord
  unplugged, wireless hardswitch turned on.

WORKAROUND: In Ubuntu 11.04, with wireless hardswitch turned off,
ethernet cable plugged in, perform a clean boot. Disconnect ethernet
cord then turn on wireless hardswitch and notice no wireless networks in
the area. Perform the following via the Terminal:

  ubuntu@ubuntu:~/Desktop$ sudo stop network-manager
  network-manager stop/waiting
  ubuntu@ubuntu:~/Desktop$ sudo start network-manager
  network-manager start/running, process 5172
  ubuntu@ubuntu:~/Desktop$ rfkill list
  0: phy0: Wireless LAN
  Soft blocked: no
  Hard blocked: no

Notice one may see wireless networks in range and successfully
  connected.
