[Bug 1060964] [NEW] does not complete Empathy 3 password migration if MC 1:5.12.1-3 was ever used

2012-10-03 Thread Simon McVittie
Public bug reported:

This is Debian #687933 and is fixed upstream in 5.12.3 and 5.13.2.
(We'll be doing a 5.14.0 stable-branch release shortly, with the same
code as 5.13.2.)

Steps to reproduce
==

* Have Empathy on an old Ubuntu version (Empathy 2.x) with an IM (e.g. Jabber)
account
* Upgrade to a version of Ubuntu that had
  empathy (= 3) but telepathy-mission-control-5 ( 1:5.12.1-3)
* Change your IM password (e.g. via your provider's website)

Expected result
===

* Empathy tries to sign in with your saved password, fails, and prompts
you for your password. You provide the new password. It works.

Actual result
=

* Mission Control still knows your old password and tries to sign in with it.
Empathy is never asked for your password, and does not have the opportunity
to ask you for the new one. Sign-in fails and it is non-obvious how
  to recover.

Workaround
==

Run seahorse and delete Mission Control's version of the password -
the one that seahorse calls a Telepathy password (as opposed to
Instant messaging password, which is Empathy's version).

[Bug 1060760] Re: Hot plug and unplug causes system hangs

2012-10-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.6 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag. Please only remove that one tag and leave the
other tags. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next
to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the
'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

[Bug 1060877] Re: [Acer, inc. Aspire 7530G] suspend/resume failure

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1056863] Re: : in path makes troubles with LD_LIBRARY_PATH

2012-10-03 Thread Book 'em Dano
Whatever is enclosed in the single quotes wil be interpretted literally,
so you either use the quotes or the escape character. I think you
should use only one set of quotes or if you are going to use the escape
character, you have to use it throughout the whole path wherever needed,
i.e. /usr/local/games/Superbrothers\:\ Sword\ \\ Sworcery\ EP/lib

[Bug 1060970] [NEW] Mouse pointer goes crazy

2012-10-03 Thread Andreas Hohenegger
Public bug reported:

After a while the mouse pointer runs over the screen along a straight line
(upwards, downwards, diagonal etc.) if the numpad mouse was enabled using
setxkbmap -option keypad:pointerkeys
This bug will be difficult to reproduce as it seems to occur randomly and only
in certain setups. I encounter it working under KDE 4.9 on Ubuntu 12.04 (also
previous versions) which was why I asked here:
http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=111t=106913
I encounter it only working in dual screen setup with external keyboard and
mouse (both Logitech) attached to my Lenovo T61 thinkpad. So far not if I do
indeed use the numpad mouse but when it was left on unintentionally (not
deactivated by pressing Shift+Num-Lock ).
The movement of the pointer can be compensated by moving the mouse in the
opposite direction but the pointer runs too fast to perform a secure
logout/reboot. At the same time the system does not react to keyboard input.
This is a serious bug which forces the user to force reboot the system without
any chance to close unsaved files.

[Bug 1060550] Re: lxc-ls with ephemeral containers reports too many containers

2012-10-03 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug.

Is this on quantal, precise, or something else?

lxc-ls reports two rows of results - the first containing all
containers, the second the active ones. It looks as though your output
got squashed into one column containing all results. What happens when
you do lxc-ls | tail -1 ?

lxc-list is generally a nicer looking (but more tedious to script
around) interface for viewing lists of containers. The actual format of
lxc-ls output will be discussed at the upcoming UDS, and probably
changed.

[Bug 1054605] Re: Mount very slow for 22TB ext4 filesystem on Ubuntu Server 12.04.1 running kernel 3.2.0-30-generic

2012-10-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I'd like to perform a reverse bisect to figure out which commit upstream
fixes this bug. It would be very helpful to know the last kernel that
had this issue and the first kernel that did not.

Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for
the first kernel version that doesn't have this bug:

v3.3 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.3-precise/
v3.4 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-quantal/
v3.5 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.5-quantal/
v3.6-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.6-rc1-quantal/

You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the kernel that first does
not have this bug.

Thanks in advance!

2012-10-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I did a quick search of upstream and found:

commit 0548bbb85337e532ca2ed697c3e9b227ff2ed4b4
Author: Theodore Ts'o ty...@mit.edu
Date: Thu Aug 16 11:59:04 2012 -0400

This commit was applied in v3.6-rc3.

I don't think there is a need to test the kernels I requested in comment
#12. I'll build a test kernel with this commit applied and post it
shortly.

Have you tried inserting the computer name in place of the IP address
while the computer uses DCHP to get network info? Otherwise, you may
have to stick with statis IP setup, as IP address is likelt to change

[Bug 1054605] Re: Mount very slow for 22TB ext4 filesystem on Ubuntu Server 12.04.1 running kernel 3.2.0-30-generic

2012-10-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
After further investigation, it seems that a fix may already exist in
v3.2.29:

commit 4ac2515cf5201e7762c16303d860b6ec0e02aecb
Author: Theodore Ts'o ty...@mit.edu
Date: Thu Aug 16 11:59:04 2012 -0400

ext4: fix long mount times on very big file systems

Can folks affected by this bug test the v3.2.29[0] kernel? If that
kernel fixes the bug, Precise will automatically pickup the fix when the
updates for 3.2.29 are pulled in.

[Bug 893611] Re: ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 problem with Audio output

Ok thanks.

Just one question. There are no packages for Quantal (12.10) on that

or whether I should request that one be created (and if so, where do I
do that then)?

Kind regards and thanks for your great work!

[Bug 987060] Re: massive memory leak in unity-panel-service and hud-service when invoking the hud on Firefox profiles with large amounts of bookmarks

2012-10-03 Thread LA
I tried the solution that was suggested above, but it didn't work for
me. CPU load explodes even after enabling the Global Menu addon, and
Firefox becomes irresponsive for a couple of minutes. This repeats
whenever I type some command in HUD. My only solution was to disable the
Global Menu addon, I am missing the feature, but at least I can keep
browsing the internet...
