[Bug 1100546] Re: Power indicator favours 'not present' mouse over laptop battery level
The order is dictated by src/indicator-power.c. All power devices are assigned a weighting, with batteries assigned weight 2, in function: static int get_device_kind_weight(const IndicatorPowerDevice * device) {...} A function sorts all power devices in a list according to this criteria: /* sort devices from most interesting to least interesting on this criteria: 1. discharging items from least time remaining until most time remaining 2. discharging items with an unknown time remaining 3. charging items from most time left to charge to least time left to charge 4. charging items with an unknown time remaining 5. batteries, then non-line power, then line-power */ static gint device_compare_func (gconstpointer ga, gconstpointer gb) {...} Finally, the primary device is selected as the first in the sorted list: IndicatorPowerDevice * indicator_power_choose_primary_device (GSList * devices) { ... tmp = g_slist_sort (tmp, device_compare_func); primary = g_object_ref (tmp-data); ... return primary; } Examining /sys/class/power_supply/*/ it looks as if the sort function could take into account the 'capacity' node of all batteries since it looks to be the only common value shared across laptop and external device batteries. I've not yet discovered the unit of measure so far though, so it might not be the most suitable value. $ for n in /sys/class/power_supply/*/capacity; do echo $n $(cat $n); done /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/capacity 116 /sys/class/power_supply/hid-00:12:a1:63:a8:50-battery/capacity 63 The key thing is to be able to recognise and differentiate the treatment of internal laptop batteries (of which there can be more than one) from external device batteries (mice, keyboard, headphones, etc.). It may be that the simplest most flexible solution would be to add an option to the Power Settings GUI that allows the user to make an intelligent decision as to which battery/batteries they wish to be considered as the primaries for purposes of the indicator icon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1100546 Title: Power indicator favours 'not present' mouse over laptop battery level To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-power/+bug/1100546/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1171156] Re: debian/patches/git_reset_scrolling.patch is adversely affecting scrolling, particularly in gedit
Very hard to describe, sort of like while scrolling the window gets 'caught' at times. Overall a minor issue but at least here was quite evident that something had changed. I initially thought maybe some recent update had caused some performance hit until I noticed the gtk3 update reason behind. The other area where again fairly obvious here is scrolling a long package list in synaptic, again the scroll gets caught at times, it feels like the system is struggling (which it's not. Reverting the patch all is back to 'normal'. Would like to note this is on a laptop touchpad where it is quite impossible to duplicate the orig. bug As far as this being a 'new' upstream bug', I guess one would need to try on a 3.8 build where the patch was committed, atm there is no available build, the one in the gnome3 ppa is prior to it. As far as here now this was a 3.8 commit applied to the 3.6.x source so don't see it as an upstream issue per se. (tonight I'll patch build the 3.8 source try on a gnome 3.8 install to see though that's not what 13.04 is using (ot - in the short time to release this bug should be addressed, if the current behavior is going to be changed by Thurs., great, otherwise I'd say it's a bit of an embarrassment as it currently stands Bug 1170483 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171156 Title: debian/patches/git_reset_scrolling.patch is adversely affecting scrolling, particularly in gedit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1171156/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1109283] Re: [SRU] maas to Quantal and Precise
To be clear, MAAS as its currently stands in precise has a *broken* implementation of DHCP/DNS when managed by cobbler. Most of the times it did not work well out of the box and decreases the user experience. That being said, all of the stakeholders were aware and had been notified that when an upgrade was to be made available, it will require to update the DHCP/DNS settings for those who run MAAS in precise with cobbler managing DNS/DHCP (which is probably not the use case for most of the installations). This is why Julian committed to providing upgrading instructions to migrate cobbler existing configurations to MAAS existing configurations. At least one member of the release team was aware of this and was fine with it.
