Re: [Bug 1109283] Re: [SRU] maas to Quantal and Precise

2013-04-22 Thread Scott Kitterman
Also, it seems to me that not mentioning this in the SRU bug, well, the nicest
way I can put it, is 'substantially incomplete'. This isn't the kind of thing
that should be handles via I talked to someone on the release team and they
said it was fine (BTW, ubuntu-sru and ubuntu-release are not the same team).

[Bug 1157864] Re: Requests to https server can yield WantReadError

2013-04-22 Thread Stuart McLaren
All,

Mark and I had a great chat at the summit and quickly agreed a way
forward (tweak https://review.openstack.org/#/c/24916/ to only use
eventlet if the socket has actually been monkey patched).

I hope to push up a new patch real soon.

Re: [Bug 1171464] [NEW] lxc-execute fails with error Failed to find an lxc-init

2013-04-22 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, in order to
use lxc-execute, you must install lxc-init in the container, by
chrooting into or lxc-starting the container, and doign

apt-get install --no-install-recommends lxc

After that, lxc-execute with a noninteractive command should succeed.
If it does not, please re-open this bug.

Note there is a currently known bug in that lxc-execute of a shell
will freeze your terminal. (Note also that you can start the container
in daemon mode and use lxc-attach or lxc-console to connect to the
runnign container, which tends to be better tested so far.)

[Bug 1170418] Re: unity launcher and window borders missing upon login

2013-04-22 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hi Jonathan,

This looks similar to bug #1166765 except that bug (and it's duplicates)
were Nvidia based GPU's using the nvidia binary driver. This bug looks
to be AMD graphics using the open source radeon driver.

It has been reported that very recent updates may have fixed this. Please try
switching to a VT (Ctrl-Alt-F1), logging in, and from there issue:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Please report if that fixes this. If not, then try what is suggested
here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1166765/comments/9

Thanks,
Chris

Re: [Bug 1153188] Re: Urdu with better support: Default Fonts, Kbd Layout

2013-04-22 Thread Shabbir Ahmed
I downloaded ubuntu 13.04, ran it as virtual machine and accessed
facebook.com, tried to view text in urdu but the font is still not 'noori
nastaleeque'. images are attached as reference.

thank you,
Shabbir.

Well, Shabbir, in comment #27 you asked for some time for testing - and
you got it. ;-) Of course, I would have hoped for a report on you

Given Abdellah's comment #32, I still don't know what we should best do
to achieve a sensible font setup for Urdu. Only adding Nafees Nastaleeq
to the archive is reasonably not sufficient, if it's not accompanied
with a font configuration that works.

Shabbir, can you please test the idea in comment #31?

[Bug 1171192] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 Beta 2- Intel HD Graphics 3000 - No screen

2013-04-22 Thread Eder Andrés Ávila Niño
First, on Grub menu I selected Ubuntu editing the command line for to ensure
the nomodeset was not added:
linux /vmlinuz-3.8.0-16-generic root= . ro quiet splash -- vga=792
$vt_handoff

But, I got the blank screen again. No terminals. No cursor blink.

So, I tried a root shell prompt this way:

Grun Menu → Advanced Options for Ubuntu → Ubuntu, with linux
3.8.0-generic (recovery mode) → Recovery Menu → root Drop t root shell
prompt.

So I get a root shell:
   root@ederandresan-pc02: ~#_
Where I executed the dmesg and startx commands:

  $ dmesg  file_on_usb_drive
  $ startx

However, the startx was unusual:
Fatal server error: Could not create lock file in /tmp/tX0-lock.
xauth: error in locking authority file /root/.Xauthority

I don't think the Xorg.0.log file was generated as usual.
I've attached these files: dmesg, Xorg.0.log and grub.

2013-04-22 Thread James Page
OK - so the trunk testing packages for the openstack clients have now
exceeded the dependencies that can be fulfilled from the distro; the
release version for grizzly of quantumclient is 2.2.0 which requires
1.3.1 of cliff.

This should be fixed (but not in the grizzly trunk testing PPA) once
S-series of Ubuntu and Havana PPA's open.

[Bug 1171506] [NEW] Unable to run java test applet in chromium, some applets not working in firefox

2013-04-22 Thread Christian Reis
Public bug reported:

Since Friday, when I updated to the latest icedtea-web package, Java
applets are not working properly for me. This happens in both browsers,
but they behave slightly differently. Here are two scenarios:

1. Chromium loading http://www.java.com/pt_BR/download/testjava.jsp

Using a temporary profile chromium never is able to load the testjava
applet. The question bar appears asking whether to run java, but when I
click always run on this site the box where the plugin output appears
doesn't run. Strangely, reloading the page later fails with a This
webpage is not available message.

2. Chromium loading
https://www2.bancobrasil.com.br/aapf/login.jsp?aapf.IDH=simperfil=1

Similar symptoms occur here -- the instructions Aguarde, iniciando o
acesso... appear at the top of the page, but the login page which
should come after never loads.

In Firefox, I am able to load testjava.jsp, but the banking site, which
is what I really want to get to, never loads. I'll attach an iIcedtea
debug log.

[Bug 1171205] Re: Endlessly scan without finding the partitions

2013-04-22 Thread dino99
I does not have a floppy drive (deactivated inside bios) and nothing
hangs.

As the partitions , on that system, was made a long time ago (Jaunty
time), i suppose that the raring's gparted have some hard time to read
these old partitions. So i'm going to start with new ext4 partitions in
a few days , to start with something cleaner.

But its strange that no warnings/errors complaint about something:
nothing logged, nothing into a terminal, gparted gui does not warn
about some partition or an other.

Noting that in chromium this older version of the plugin crashes quite
frequently. It's stable enough to let me use the banking application
regardless, though.

 Versions in Debian and Ubuntu:

  libmason-perl | 2.20-1 | sid| source, all

 libmason-perl | 2.19-2 | quantal/universe | source, all

Maybe someone can add this to precise-updates ...

[Bug 1162836] Re: likewise screws up PAM configuration for other services

2013-04-22 Thread Michael Terry
I've uploaded to precise. Just waiting on sru approval now. Thanks
Gunnar! I'll unsubscribe sponsors now.

** Description changed:

- This is similar to #798277, however is a new problem. Please continue
- reading.
+ [Impact]
+ With likewise-open installed, the pam environment may not be read, causing
some environment variables like PATH or LANG to be incorrect.

- Problem appears in lightdm 1.2.3-0ubuntu2.
- Downgrading to 1.2.3-0ubuntu1 resolves the problem.
- Upgrading to 1.2.3-0ubuntu2 again causes the problem to reappear.
-
- Steps to reproduce:
+ [Test Case]
+ 0. Install likewise-open
  1. Login via lightdm
  2. Open a terminal.
  3. Run echo $PATH

Expected result: the path contains the folder /usr/games like on earlier
releases of Ubuntu.
Actual result: PATH does not include /usr/games

In addition, this causes PATH to not be set correctly after sudo. For
instance, /usr/sbin is not in path after sudo. Once again, downgrading
  lightdm resolves the problem.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ This patch affects pam configuration, so could theoretically regress login
behavior. It's a minimal patch though and used in raring.

** No longer affects: lightdm (Ubuntu)

** No longer affects: lightdm (Ubuntu Precise)

[Bug 1171205] Re: Endlessly scan without finding the partitions

2013-04-22 Thread dino99
Interesting test:

- i've shutdown RR, then rebooted on PP
- started PP's gparted: no problem to find the hdds partitions or the usb stick
- reformated the usb stick and shutdown again

- then restarted RR
- load gparted, and now the partitions are also found with RR

So there was an unknown issue (its sad that nothing was logged, maybe
gparted should be a bit more verbosy) but seems minor.

[Bug 1171156] Re: debian/patches/git_reset_scrolling.patch is adversely affecting scrolling, particularly in gedit

2013-04-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
On a gnome3/gnome-shell only install with the gtk+3.0-3.8.0 source patched
with git_reset_scrolling.patch - no issues, works fine
 On a 13.04 install with gnome-shell (3.6.3.1-0ubuntu5) gtk+3.0
 (3.6.4-0ubuntu7) - no issues
On a 13.04 install with gtk+3.0 (3.6.4-0ubuntu7 in a unity session the issue
 exists

so basically works fine under gnome-shell, with whatever version of GTK
in use, did you try GTK 3.8+patch under unity?

[Bug 1171519] [NEW] gdm disregards /etc/gdm/custom.conf exclude user list

2013-04-22 Thread Nick Blais
Public bug reported:

Running on:
Description:Ubuntu 13.04
Release:13.04-BETA2
(Ubuntu Gnome, 64-bit)

In /etc/gdm/custom.conf, I have the following config:
[greeter]
# Only include selected logins in the greeter
IncludeAll = false

which should remove the user list from the login screen. Unfortuantely
it doesn't work. Also adding a specific Exclude for each user will not
work.

The only fix right now is to have this file:
/etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/01-local-settings

###
# local system-wide customizations

[org/gnome/login-screen]
disable-user-list=true
###

then running dconf update.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

It appears that you do *not* have the floppy disabled in the BIOS (
since you have /dev/fd0 ). This is a common error that often causes
this problem. Please double check your bios.

[Bug 1171156] Re: debian/patches/git_reset_scrolling.patch is adversely affecting scrolling, particularly in gedit

2013-04-22 Thread Matthieu Baerts
According to the tests made by Doug, it seems this patch introduces a
more annoying problem than what we had with the previous version when
using Compiz (and maybe others WM). This maybe means that it introduces
unknown bugs or something is missing... Maybe more dangerous to use this
version than using the previous?

it's a bit late for GTK changes before release and that's not really a
stopper

But why is it a bit too late? It's just a revert to the previous version (we
don't want to include a new patch).
I agree that it's not stopper but it's not easy to scroll down when having a
long list when using a touchpad (e.g. gedit, nautilus, etc. seem buggy and very
slow). Why not a revert and then check why this new patch introduces this new
bug?

[Bug 1171048] Re: Segfault during Broadcom STA wireless driver install in Kubuntu live session

2013-04-22 Thread Scott Kitterman
I followed through the steps on the attached jockey log and everything
is fine up to the unbind/rebind. What is the command for that?

Now the fun part is since I was stepping through this manually, so I
could see where things were at a given time. Once I installed bcmwl-
kernel-source and it's DKMS build/install had completed, I had wifi.
I'm glad to continue troubleshooting the specific issue with the
unbind/rebind, but for jockey, could it just be dropped for this driver?

2013-04-22 Thread Haitao Zhang
fglrx-updates (2:9.012-0ubuntu1) do fixed Unsupprted hardware watermark issue,
but S3 test still failed, so seems we should raise it to AMD to get it fixed.

[Bug 1171451] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 (raring) hangs on minimizing windows

2013-04-22 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1171451/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

On a 13.04 install with gtk+3.0 (3.6.4-0ubuntu7 in a unity session the issue
 exists
so basically works fine under gnome-shell, with whatever version of GTK
in use, did you try GTK 3.8+patch under unity?

Just did in a manner of sorts (didn't rebuild gtk 3.8+patch on the 13.04
unity install, nor unity againt gtk 3.8 patched, re-used the packages
previously built), whether that matters don't know..

Anyway the same poor behavior is seen in a unity session with gtk 3.8
patched.
So the 'issue' seems to only happen in an unity session

If it's worth rebuilding unity against the newer, patched gtk can do
though that takes a little while as unity has become a fairly long build

[Bug 1165281] Re: 12.10 to 13.04 Failed, Now Get An upgrade from raring to quantal is not supported with this tool

2013-04-22 Thread Brian Murray
This probably due to lsb_release returning raring, since that part of
the upgrade completed, and the Source From in DistUpgrade.cfg being
quantal. I think the only thing to do here is to return a better
error message if release == self.toDist indicating how one may resolve
the situation.

From DistUpgradeController.py:

def prepare(self):
initial cache opening, sanity checking, network checking
# first check if that is a good upgrade
self.release = release = subprocess.Popen([lsb_release,-c,-s],
   stdout=subprocess.PIPE,

universal_newlines=True).communicate()[0].strip()
logging.debug(lsb-release: '%s' % release)
if not (release == self.fromDist or release == self.toDist):
logging.error(Bad upgrade: '%s' != '%s'  % (release,
self.fromDist))
self._view.error(_(Can not upgrade),
_(An upgrade from '%s' to '%s' is not
supported with this tool. % (release,
self.toDist)))
sys.exit(1)
