[Bug 1179202] Re: fails to login with error fatal: monitor_read: unsupported request: 144

2013-05-13 Thread Scott Moser
Verified fix-released.
I booted a cloud image of
ubuntu-daily/ubuntu-saucy-daily-amd64-server-20130513-disk1.img (where I had
opened the duplicate bug 1179513) with user-data that included 'apt_upgrade:
true'.

The image came up, installed the new ssh, and all was well.
Thanks.

[Bug 1179344] Re: ssh doesn't get pty; says inappropriate ioctl for device

2013-05-13 Thread Colin Watson
Given that the nature of the other bug messes quite thoroughly with
sshd's ability to communicate between bits of itself, including the
protocol that allows it to set up a session properly, I don't think it's
fair to consider the TERM/pty/login-shell issues as unrelated. If
1:6.2p1-3 fixes this then I would consider this bug a duplicate, even
though the exact set of symptoms reported here is a bit different.

[Bug 1176159] Re: [Lucid] Backport generic detection of Xen kernels for EC2

2013-05-13 Thread Scott Moser
Stefan,
Sorry for being so delinquent in seeing this.
  Ubuntu's update-grub-legacy-ec2, which is provided by grub-legacy-ec2, a
binary package created from cloud-init does not consider config of the kernel
at all.

The logic only considers kernel name and version.

we can surely patch this to cover the updated kernel, and yeah, we
need to do that.

[Bug 1179770] [NEW] Wrong information reported by command df

2013-05-13 Thread Christophe
Public bug reported:

The command 'df' reports the following informations about my partitions:

You can notice that the informations for /dev/sd1 are identical to those
of my main partition /dev/sda1. But /dev/sdb1 is actually a 16 Gb SD

fdisk provides correct informations:

[Bug 1179772] [NEW] Chat window doesn't close when pressing ESC once; Program crashes when pressing ESC twice

2013-05-13 Thread Sah Lee
Public bug reported:

Usually the chat window should close when ESC is pressed. But occasionally this
doesn't work.
When the bug happens, pressing ESC leaves me a chat window frame without any
content (only grey window background, no text areas). Then I press ESC again,
the chat window frame disappears, and Pidgin crashes.

According to the output of 'pidgin --debug' (see below), there should've
been a core-dump happened. If I understand this correctly, a core-dump
should trigger apport. But it didn't in this case.

The accounts I have are:

significant considering it has 128 GB of RAM (around 128 MB loss if
memory serves me). If this improves graphical performance
significantly for many machines, it's probably worth the loss for
machines with huge amounts of RAM.

Does switching the graphics memory to Write Combining originate in KMS
now (instead of Xorg)?

[Bug 1179780] [NEW] Please enable RTTI in build

Public bug reported:

Re llvm-3.2_3.2-2ubuntu5

In the latest llvm-3.2-5 release in Debian, RTTI is enabled. Please pull
this change into the Ubuntu package as well.

This is a regression from 3.1, and breaks compilation of the Crack

Thanks :-)

[Bug 950413] Re: Bluetooth connections stalling with some Broadcom cards from year 2005

2013-05-13 Thread VittGam
ukungfu,

Some time ago I remember I tried to workaround this, l2ping did work but
the connection was not reliable at all, since the card could not signal
if its buffer was empty, so the driver would continue sending tx packets
continuously even with the tx buffer full. At the moment I cannot find
the testing tree I was using at the time, so I can't tell more for
now...

After testing in an WinXP virtual machine and sniffing the USB traffic
as in comment #11, I could conclude that the problem is not in the
bluetooth stack but in the method/init parameters/something like that
the btusb driver and/or the usb driver use to initialize the usb
communication with the bluetooth card. The only sensible difference
between the WinXP dump and the btusb dump was the maximum size of the
usb packets sent and received on the wire. I also tried to manually
replace the btusb initialization messages with the sniffed ones from
WinXP, and it did not work.

(P.s. As a quick fix I'd suggest you to buy or borrow a $10 CSR dongle
as I've done when I was in a hurry and needed bluetooth on this pc some
time ago, this fixed the problem very well. ;)

[Bug 950413] Re: Bluetooth connections stalling with some Broadcom cards from year 2005

2013-05-13 Thread VittGam
And yes, the issue I could see while sniffing packets is that for some
reason the card in the linux configuration does not generate the
HCI_EV_NUM_COMP_PKTS when it should, nor anything in place of that (the
dump's just silent).

[Bug 1179727] Re: [regression] [raring] Panel shadow is visible over fullscreen apps

2013-05-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Raised to High. Because with Unredirection turned off (like it always is
for nouveau), the bug is always visible.

** Description changed:

[regression] [raring] Panel shadow is visible over fullscreen apps

This regression only appeared in raring this past month or two. It
wasn't happening in raring before then.

- Instructions:
+ Test case 1:
  1. Start Firefox.
  2. Fullscreen: F11
  3. Adjust sound volume to make the OSD appear.
+ Expected: Just the OSD appears.
+ Observed: The OSD _and_ the panel shadow appears.

- Expected: Just the OSD appears
- Observed: The OSD _and_ the panel shadow appears.
+ Test case 2:
+ 1. CCSM Composite Unredirect Fullscreen Windows = OFF
+ 2. Fullscreen Firefox
+ Expected: Just Firefox is visible.
+ Observed: The panel shadow is always drawn over Firefox.

This regression is driving me nuts. Mostly because the bug did not exist
a couple of months ago. And I remember telling the Unity devs
specifically which code to not change so as to avoid precisely this kind
  of regression.

[Bug 1179781] [NEW] If-Modfied-Since undhandled case causes apt lists corruption with https repositories

2013-05-13 Thread Paul Wise (Debian)
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Users of apt repositories that use https will occasionally recieve an
error message and not be able to update properly:

W: Size of file /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/archive.example
.com_dists_precise_main_binary-amd64_Packages is not what the server
reported 0 25118

This should be backported to Ubuntu precise because some companies may
be delivering their internal apt repositories over SSL for security.

[Test Case]

Install apt-transport-https and setup an apt repository delivered over
https. Do some updates and eventually the above error will happen.

[Regression Potential]

I've patched the Ubuntu precise version of apt and found no issues.

[Other Info]

This was reported to Debian first and is fixed in Debian unstable:

http://bugs.debian.org/705648

The maintainers of apt in Ubuntu have not yet synced this to saucy.

[Bug 1154006] Re: 12.04 freezes many times daily

2013-05-13 Thread Mark Breman
Yesterday i had another freeze after more than two weeks without any
freezes at all (after setting Windows animations off in Unity). I was
watching a long youtube video using Chrome with the flash-plugin which
has proven to be unstable and causing freezes in the past...

Maybe there are multiple causes for these freezes?

I have a legacy system which proves stable under Windows. Asus MB, 2GB ram,
Core2Duo, nVidia geforce 7600GT
I'm also using Asus motherboard, Intel core2 quad cpu, nVidia 9600GT, 8GB RAM.

At the moment i'm running the latest LTS kernel: 3.2.0-41-generic-pae.

[Bug 1179383] [NEW] LED Touch Buttons, Touchpad toggle not working in Toshiba Qosmio F60

2013-05-13 Thread solomon sunder
Public bug reported:

I am unable to toggle wireless on/off, mute/unmute, play/pause using
Front operation panel LED keys on my Toshiba Qosmio F60. Currently I
need to enable WiFi/Bluetooth from Windows for it to work. Fn+F8 toggle
works as soft block/unblock only if I have already enabled WiFi under
Windows. Any ideas as how this can be done? I have tried Ubuntu 13.04 as
well. The only LED Touch button that works under Ubuntu is the Volume
Up/Down button. Touchpad on/off toggle does not work with physical
button or Fn+F9 either.

[Bug 390508] Re: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter

2013-05-13 Thread Henning
I love this thread. It is the bug that keeps on giving, year after year,
each time someone spends a few hours in frustration and then stumbles
across this bug. Frustrations turns to disbelief and then finally to
 resignation.

+3
But, it's Open-Source. Why just not forking it and create a replacement package
for it? Users beeing annoyed about this bug, may just install the replacement
and everybody is happy. Just saying...

We are working with a V6R1.

As I'm not an AS400 expert, I don't know how to provide a more detailled
version reference.

Have a nice day ahead.
