[Bug 582164] Re: Radeon R350 (9800 Pro/AIW) + KMS monitor out of sync
Gary W, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily kernel folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12-rc2 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. [Bug 1232578] [NEW] Web browser icon should read "Web browser", not "Internet"
Public bug reported: By default, Lubuntu creates a web browser "quick launch" icon for the default web browser. However, this icon has three problems: 1. Its tooltip reads "Internet", which is incorrect. The web browser is only one of several Internet applications Lubuntu offers, some others being Pidgin and Skype, not to mention video games that can be played over the Internet. 2. The tooltip is not translated into any language but English. 3. The icon (lubuntu-browser.desktop) duplicates the LXDE-provided web browser icon (lxde-x-www-browser.desktop), which does not suffer from problems 1 or 2. Could you please use lxde-x-www-browser.desktop in the default configuration and delete lubuntu-browser.desktop? [Bug 575146] Re: SCSI Scan order wrong
apport information ** Tags added: precise ** Description changed: During a fresh installation of Ubuntu 10.04, I noticed that the Linux kernel is scanning and registering the hard drives incorrectly. In my Dell Precision workstation 690, I have 4 500GB SATA hard drives configured in two RAID 1 sets. /proc/scsi/scsi shows the following: Host: scsi8 Channel: 01 Id: 02 Lun: 00 Vendor: Dell Model: VIRTUAL DISK Rev: 1028 Type: Direct-AccessANSI SCSI revision: 05 Host: scsi8 Channel: 01 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: Dell Model: VIRTUAL DISK Rev: 1028 Type: Direct-AccessANSI SCSI revision: 05 Id: 00 Lun: 00 is showing as /dev/sdb Id: 02 Lun: 00 is showing as /dev/sda This caused two problems during the install. One when I configured my boot partition, I had to set it to /dev/sdb, and two Grub failed to install to /dev/sdb during the install. I had to manually install grub into /dev/sdb before I got a bootable system. I can provide what ever logs you need to debug this. Presently my system is bootable, but still is showing the same wrong scsi scan order. --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. [Bug 583717] Re: v4l-dvb module broken and outdated
quequotion, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . [Bug 587701] Re: Computer freezes about once a day.
BenE, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 1232602] [NEW] infinity progress circle during login time freezes
Public bug reported: What I expected to happen: If you set your Ubuntu to ask for password before the system start, of course you will be able to choose a user, if this user is selected you can type the password and then click on symbol that looks like ">" or pressing the Enter key, after that this symbol will disappear and a infinity progress circle will replace it, this circle should flow/circulate. What happened instead: That's the problem, in my version of Ubuntu, 13.10, it doesn't happens, it is/looks frozen and the only thing that moves is the mouse cursor, you also can't iterate with any of the system tray options. Also I remember to have the same problem with 12.10 and 13.04, but when I switched to 13.04 and 13.10 I did a clean install (removing the older version partition first). Possible solution (I'm just a noob): The circle probably freezes, because when the login application access the "database" (in which contains the user password that will be compared with the one entered by the user) uses the default thread (like in computer programming thread), I know that when you perform a task in programming and it takes too long to be finished the GUI of this program usually freezes because you did not started this task in another thread. I think, if this is the problem, that the solution would be performing the task that "query the database" in another thread. I have seen this bug on my end too, but I though that I locally introduced it with my own hacks. The patch does not solve the root cause (i.e. buffer double-free), but if it prevents the crash, maybe we can apply it to get people going until we find the real solution. No, I didn't find the root cause. I am only assuming (based on the last message in your Xorg.0.log file) that you are seeing the same kind of a crash that I have been seeing recently. So I would like you to test if the patch that I posted fixes the problem for you. If it does, then there are two open issues that remain: a) should we push my patch upstream (i.e. to at least prevent the crash of affected users like you) and b) what really causes the double-free. The latter is what we have no idea about yet. Any additional logs that you can produce in the meantime would be useful. [Bug 1232606] [NEW] Nautilus freezes accessing Android via MTP when USB debugging enabled
Public bug reported: Nautilus started freezing on me when I tried to access certain folders on my Android phone (Sony Xperia P) via MTP, such as the DCIM folder. I would have to kill Nautilus and then unplug and reconnect the phone. Sometimes after this the phone would be in the list of devices, but when I clicked on it no volume would appear. Thunar didn't show the same freezing behaviour, but once the volume stopped appearing in Nautilus it would stop appearing in Thunar too. This behaviour continued even after I did a factory reset on the phone. I could not reproduce the behaviour in Windows 7. Disabling USB debugging on the phone fixed the problem.
