[Bug 1315221] Re: 8086:08b1 (rev 6b) [Dell XPS 13 9333] iwlwifi regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2014-07-29 Thread Seth Forshee
Hmm, it's odd that you would have seen any difference between 3.15 rc2
and rc3, as there are no changes at all to any networking code or
wireless drivers between those releases. I can't find anything that
looks like it should have had any impact on the stability of your
wireless connection.

This is an regression issue which we had even for Ubuntu 14.04, later got fixed

Looks like 14.10 is broken again.

Maybe the updated driver didn't go into both the .04 as well as .10

2014-07-29 Thread Ethan Blanton
That is the same conclusion I came to at the time, that it made no
sense. I wondered if linux-firmware didn't change somewhere in there.
As I recall, 3.13 uses the -8 firmware, and 3.15 used the -9, and I
wondered if -9 might have been updated. I can retry 3.15.0-rc1 -rc2
-rc3 if that would be helpful to you.

[Bug 1267255] Re: [MIR] php5 (php5-fpm binary)

2014-07-29 Thread snafu109
Hi Robie,

I can't comment on that. All I did was follow the process for filing the
MIR bug; I'm not sure how to progress it from here. If I need to post on
the ubuntu-server list to get attention I'm happy to do so.

I believe this bug is at step 4 of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionProcess, and waiting for review by
~ubuntu-mir team. If there's more to the process then where can I find
that information?

Having said that I see on that wiki page New binary packages from
existing source packages, where the source package is already in main,
do not require reports. But who to notify about this bug so php5-fpm
can move to main?

[Bug 1318366] Re: jujud on state server panic misses transaction in queue

2014-07-29 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
Digging in further, it appears that jujud is writing to /etc/init/juju-
db.conf (the Upstart job for its database) every few seconds. I'll file
a separate bug about this because it plausibly is the root cause of the
mongo restarts we're seeing.

2014-07-29 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.16 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

2014-07-29 Thread Robie Basak
I'm referring to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuMainInclusionRequirements

Packages that deliver major new headline features in Ubuntu need to
have commitment from Ubuntu developers willing to spend substantial time
on them.

In particular, I'm not sure who you are. Are you volunteering to look
after php5-fpm issues in Ubuntu as part of the Ubuntu Server team?

Also, All packages must have a designated owning team, regardless of
complexity, which is set as a package bug contact. - ~ubuntu-server
currently own PHP, so it would make sense to be clear about who is
going to do what here.

[Bug 1349073] Re: dbus bugs

2014-07-29 Thread Hardkorova
Yes, It's weird. I checked out dmesg and S.M.A.R.T. of HDD - all clear.
Maybe the problem is in unfinished upgrade to 14.04 (I had an error in
the end of upgrade process, upgrade had interrupted, but system worked
after that and indicates no problem). Is there a way to refresh all this
modified files? I will check dbus errors again after that.

Hello everyone, is there any update on this problem? I have the simplest
configuration possible and it still seems NFS traffic is very slow. My
client and server are both Dell Optiplex 7010 and they are both running
Ubuntu 14.04. I tried all of the recommendations listed above.

[Bug 1295207] Re: Migrate to farsight 0.2* / gstreamer 1.0

2014-07-29 Thread Bryan Quigley
The Pidgin version in upstream git (seems to be for version 3.x), can be
built --with-gstreamer=1.0

The released (2.10.9) version always wants gstremer0.10. (I'm not sure
if there are other changes between them that makes gstreamer1.0 work
better..)

If you grep configure.ac and yours has gst10_pkg that indicates you're
on the gstreamer1.0 compatible one.

[Bug 1315221] Re: 8086:08b1 (rev 6b) [Dell XPS 13 9333] iwlwifi regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2014-07-29 Thread Seth Forshee
Yes, -9 is supported as of 3.15-rc2 (though it should also be supported
in the 3.14 stable updates as well). I don't recall any updates to -9,
but it was added to linux-firmware in trusty at some point, so if you
did any other updates in between testing rc2 and rc3 it's possible you
also changed to newer firmware. So it might not hurt to test rc2 and rc3
again, after you collect the wifi-debug data of course ;-)

ppc64le GNU/Linux

---Additional Hardware Info---
IPR multipath system.

Machine Type = 8286-42A

[Bug 1349711] Re: Machine lockup in btrfs-transaction

2014-07-29 Thread Peter Waller
One thing I am unsure of is that the bug did not manifest for at least
12 days running originally. So I'm not sure it is going to be possible
to reliably decide that it is fixed by moving to a particular kernel.
What is the standard here?

[Bug 1349711] Re: Machine lockup in btrfs-transaction

2014-07-29 Thread Peter Waller
The crashes became more frequent. The approximate time was 12 days
running, then ~2 days running, then 6 hours, then 1 hour.

I since moved to 3.15.7-031507-generic.

One thing I have observed is that (EXT4 filesystem)
/var/log/nginx/access.log contained ~2KB of NULL characters in place of
any entries at the point when the machine froze.

[Bug 1267255] Re: [MIR] php5 (php5-fpm binary)

2014-07-29 Thread snafu109
I'm just a user who would like to see FPM have security and QA support
for the full 60 months of an LTS release along with the other PHP SAPIs,
so I (and others) can use a supported PHP backend with nginx instead of
having to use Apache. Now nginx-core is in main it would be excellent to
have a fully supported LEMP stack going in Ubuntu. I'm not otherwise
involved in the Ubuntu project other than filing the odd bug.

I can keep momentum going on getting the package promoted but I can't
commit to ongoing maintenance of the package once it's in main. So I can
go to ubuntu-server list to ask for help with this, since I know PHP is
a difficult set of packages to maintain and those currently taking on
this responsibility may not have the bandwidth to provide full support
for an additional package.
