[Bug 1420630] [NEW] indicator-sound menu icon disappeared after volume down to zero

2015-02-10 Thread TienFu Chen
Public bug reported:

On the HP commercial notebooks, there're function keys to control volume.
The menu volume icon will be disappeared if we volume down(with key
combination: Fn+F6) to zero then logout and back in.
But if we just zero down volume(with the single volume on/off button), then
logout and back in, the volume icon is still there.

[Bug 1272300] Re: Problem with fonts and cell settings

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
john, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However,
your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport
report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic
retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade &&
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your
/var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash
report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a
new report, you would be affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to
WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently.

Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and
reopen it.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1272458] Re: Cursor size is limited with 64x64

2015-02-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Grief, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1419318] Re: systemctl enable does not enable alias names

2015-02-10 Thread Martin Pitt
As you see in "status", the actual name of that is "ssh.service", and
"sshd" is just an Alias= name. As several units can have the same alias
(e. g. in the case of "display-manager.service"), it is deliberate that
you cannot enable aliases, but have to use the actual service name.

[Bug 1420601] Re: Systemd_218-6ubuntu1 and later cannot connect to network except via USB

2015-02-10 Thread Martin Pitt
It's relatively unlikely that the initrd is related to this. The most
likely change from -6 was this:

  http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-
systemd/systemd.git/commit/?id=c90467c1b29

In a boot with the failed networking, can you please run

  sudo systemctl status -u network-pre.target networking.service network.target
ifup@eth0.service
sudo systemctl --all | grep ifup

and copy&paste the output here? (You might first need to copy it into a
file, then reboot with networking (e. g. under upstart), and then attach
the file here. Thanks!

[Bug 1275986] Re: Truncation of remote files via ssh

2015-02-10 Thread Brendan Perrine
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
4. In particular how are you opening these remote files over ssh how are you
mounting them. What commands or steps did you take to open the file.
5. Did you mount the remote system read write.?
6. What protocol where you using.?
7. Is leafpad running on the local or remote machine?
8. Was your ssh session active when you saved the file?
9. Was your editing ading text to the end?

[Bug 1420643] [NEW] X.Org Server 1.17.1 Released To Fix CVE-2015-0255

2015-02-10 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

The vulnerability addressed by xorg-server 1.17.1 is CVE-2015-0255, which was
made public today. The newest X.Org CVE is described as:
Olivier Fourdan from Red Hat has discovered a protocol handling issue in the
way the X server code base handles the XkbSetGeometry request.

The issue stems from the server trusting the client to send valid string
lengths in the request data. A malicious client with string lengths
exceeding the request length can cause the server to copy adjacent
memory data into the XKB structs. This data is then available to the
client via the XkbGetGeometry request. The data length is at least up to
64k, it is possible to obtain more data by chaining strings, each string
length is then determined by whatever happens to be in that 16-bit
region of memory.

A similarly crafted request can likely cause the X server to crash.

This issue has been assigned CVE-2015-0255

Hope vivid will soon get that upgrade, as it still has 1.16.2.901

[Bug 1420647] [NEW] Please apply nofile limit fix of ceph-osd to trusty, utopic

2015-02-10 Thread Nobuto Murata
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Without this nofile limit fix, large ceph cluster fails to start or stops
handling requests.

[Fix]
Ceph upstream applied a new nofile limit(10x) to Giant+ releases (vivid in
Ubuntu repo).
https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/2156/files

[Test case]
Check that new nofile ulimit is properly applied as 32768 -> 327680:
$ cat /proc/$(pgrep -n ceph-osd)/limits | grep 'Max open files'

[Regression Potential]
minimal,
If we set 1M nofile ulimit, the daemon will fail to start due to the default
fs.nr_open value. However this time, we will apply 0.3M which should not cause
troubles.

[Bug 1420648] [NEW] Client certificate verfication fails

2015-02-10 Thread Daniel Dickinson
Public bug reported:

If you use the option
auth_ssl_require_client_cert = yes

Then no matter how carefully you follow the documentation are all the
attempts provide support your clients (e.g. Thunderbird) will fail to
connect to the dovecot mail server. This issue does not with cyrus-imap
mail server.

I have investigated the code and believe I have found and fixed the
issue (the attached patch makes verification of client side SSL
certificates work for me, which is NOT true without the patch).

Basically the OpenSSL logic is wrong when it comes to setting up the
client side verification.

I have a DebDiff against Trusty that fixes the issue. (Attached).
