[Bug 1371634] Re: block devices appear twice

2015-06-03 Thread Jeff Lane
Actually, on advice of Andy C, lets go ahead and consider this
critical... this cert needs to be completed as soon as possible and we
can't do that without multipathing working properly.

[Bug 1461530] [NEW] Translation make output hard to read

2015-06-03 Thread Andreas Kostyrka
Public bug reported:

andreas@asterix:~/projects/uber/uber.data.processor/uber/data/processor$ free -m
Gesamt Belegt Frei Gemeinsam Puffer Cache
Speicher: 15965 14517 1447 1073204 5516
-/+ Puffer/Cache: 8796 7168
Auslagerungsdatei: 7982 3472 4510

(bad to see with variable width fonts)

Basically this is an issue with translations destroying the tabular
output.

This can be fixed in two ways, either fix all the translation strings,
or make free truncate the output (even truncated labels should be
useable for something like free, but then as a long time user I probably
don't need labels, but without the column alignment the data is hard to
read).

[Bug 1451613] Re: Unity/compiz crashes when locking screen

2015-06-03 Thread Christopher Townsend
So far, this has only been reported on Trusty. It's still unclear to us
why this is occurring only on Trusty. Given that we still don't have a
proper fix in place for this on Trusty, we are just going to revert the
offending commit and get an SRU out with only this reversion as soon as
possible.

Thanks for everyone's patience and trying to help us debug this!

[Bug 1461276] Re: off-by-one in LDIF length

2015-06-03 Thread Kartik Subbarao
I have run both 2.4.31 and 2.4.40 for a few days, and have only
experienced this type of slapd crash with 2.4.40. That by itself isn't
conclusive though, since memory corruption errors can be sensitive in
how they manifest. Looking at the code briefly, I see that the same off-
by-one error in include/ldif.h is present in the 2.4.31 code (as well as
2.4.28), so the potential for the bug to be expressed is likely there in
the earlier versions as well. I hedge with likely because it seems
that there have been many changes made to this part of the code
recently, and I've seen that just reading it briefly can be misleading
when drawing firm conclusions.

The most conservative approach would be just to patch 2.4.40 for now,
unless/until people report this bug in earlier versions. A more
aggressive approach would be to patch 2.4.31 and 2.4.28 and wait for
people to report other things breaking in the earlier versions.

As an aside -- I'm actually building/running the 2.4.40 package on
14.04, not on Wily -- and I have verified that adding the patch to the
package build fixes the bug.

As an aside -- I'm actually building/running the 2.4.40 package on
14.04, not on Wily -- and I have verified that adding the patch to the
package build fixes the bug.

Bug description:
I did not wrote the bug in Question #255613 but I have similar problems.
If Xscreensaver starts, it will never come back to working stage.

Possible this is a different bug from coming from hibernate, but
result is similar so it might be mixed effect.

  Here is report from questions:

Just lost 2.0 TB hard drive of Alienware X51 that had Ubuntu 12.04.  Replaced
with 4.0 TB hard drive and installed Ubuntu 14.04.  Set aside 20 GB of swap
space.  Left 2.0 TB unused.  When keyboard and mouse have been idle for about
20 minutes, computer seems to hibernate.  Will sometimes wake up, but it takes
at least 10 minutes of periodically moving the mouse or pressing a key to make
it wake up.  Pressing power button once does not work either.  Sometimes it
won't wake up at all.  Turned off all suspend, hibernate, screen dimming, etc.
functions in Ubuntu System Settings.  Don't mind the screen dimming, but
downloads do not finish unless it's kept awake by using the keyboard or mouse
every 5-10 minutes while it downloads.

[Bug 1455482] Re: Multipath: upgrade multipath-tools to upstream

2015-06-03 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Hi Steve,

I see the points about upstream/unreleased trunk. I'm not aware of
plans/how the dm/m-t community plans for releases.

Well, Debian 0.5.0 would help to a reasonable extent.
multipath-tools 0.5.0 fixes a number of issues encountered here, and is in a
better position regarding backports.

Additionally, there's a few fixes I had to submit to Debian multipath-
tools 0.5.0 (and sg3-utils), which would be required too for booting
from multipath.

So, I think Debian 0.5.0 is OK, and any required more-recent commits we
encounter can get backports.
Thanks.

2015-06-03 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Martin, or anyone else affected,

Accepted postgresql-9.3 into trusty-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-9.3/9.3.8-0ubuntu0.4.04
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1455482] Re: Multipath: upgrade multipath-tools to upstream

2015-06-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
I went ahead and asked about a timeline for a next multipath-tools
release on the dm-devel mailing list. Timeline was said to be before
summer holidays.

I'll do the multipath-tools merge with Debian so we get 0.5.0, and once
there is a new release we'll see if it can make it into 15.10, if it
happens early enough.

Problem description: Every time I try to enter the URL for the persona
that I want to use, LibreOffice crashes. No error message or anything.
It simple stops working and the UI vanishes

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to Tools - Options - Personalization - check 'Own Theme'
2. Press 'Select Theme' and navigate to desired persona
3. Copy and paste URL in the appropriate field

Current behavior: After I enter the URL and press 'OK' LibreOffice
simple vanishes without any error message or anything.

Expected behavior: LibreOffice should start using the persona I enter
into the URL field.

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.1.0.4 release

No it doesn't. For one, the lwtheme folder is now missing. The folder
that held the persona images. Also, when I open up the
registrymodifications.xcu file it opens up as an HTML file and there is
no entry for the PersonasSettings at all. It also still crashes whenever
I copy and paste a link to a theme off the mozilla addons webpage.

[Bug 1461590] Re: schroot and click-chroot-agent are not closed when exiting qtcreator

2015-06-03 Thread Benjamin Zeller
Disagree, the agent should not tear down the session when QtC is closed.
It should tear down when you logout of the session. Its absolutely
possible there are multiple QtC instances are running.

Can you check if its tearing down if you logout from your user session?

[Bug 1443288] Re: Unusable in Trusty; upgrade to 1.3.2

2015-06-03 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Tim, or anyone else affected,

Accepted lua-json into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lua-
json/1.3-1ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Thanks.

@f-bosch We've tested all of the upstream commits as we regularly test
linux-next on Hyper-V (we don't submit patches to Ubuntu until they
accepted upstream except in extreme situations).

We are continuing to investigate reports of problems, but we are having
difficulty reproducing. I think this current patchset should go through,
as it greatly reduces the chances of the problem.

[Bug 1461590] [NEW] schroot and click-chroot-agent are not closed when exiting qtcreator

2015-06-03 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

click-chroot-agent is still running after qtcreator is closed. As a
consequence, as it's only SIGTERM (and then SIGKILL if taking too long)
on session closing, it doesn't teardown the schroot on the system.

This schroot is of course restored after reboot, even if the user
doesn't use qtcreator.

I think this is what should happen:
- when qtcreator is exiting, a signal to click-chroot-agent should be send to
terminate
- when click-chroot-agent is receiving a terminate signal, it should teardown
all the schroot that it's tracking.
