This package needs to be in Debian archive in order for Canonical to

packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1477276/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 623438] Re: Font size not correct in merged sandvich PDF

2015-07-22 Thread Rudolf
Many thanks to George Chriss! (see above)

My workaround based on his description:
Modify the created hocr by XSLT (see below). Then using hocr2pdf 0.8.9 - and
the textboxes are placed (almost) correctly.

$ tesseract image.tif ocr_file hocr
$ xsltproc -html -nonet -novalid -o ocr_fixed.hocr fix-hocr.xsl ocr_file.hocr
$ hocr2pdf -i image.tif -o searchable.pdf ocr_fixed.hocr

See attached file fix-hocr.xsl.

** Attachment added: use on hocr file to fix for hocr2pdf 0.8.9 textbox
placement

[Bug 1458014] Re: audit_printk_skb slowing down boot

2015-07-22 Thread Steve Beattie
You're not seeing what has happened in the meantime because of printk
rate limiting, as evidenced by [ 41.489482] audit_printk_skb: 159
callbacks suppressed. To stop rate limiting kernel printk output,
temporarily add a file in /etc/sysctl.d/ named something like
99-printk_ratelimiting.conf (the suffix is the important part of the
name) that contains:

kernel.printk_ratelimit=0

and then reboot. This will let you see the audit messages that the
kernel is dropping due to rate limiting.

[Bug 1296135] Re: renaming of Schreibtisch/Desktop acts strange

2015-07-22 Thread LAZA
Today after a reboot, the same problem occurs again:

1a. i got a dir named Schreibtisch, had a Desktop since about a year and no
more problems with it.
1b. shure all icons are *not* on the desktop

2. right-click on the desktop does nothing!

3. scaling of desktop background does not work!

4. Status 'Opinion' says to me: Canonical and/or the Ubuntu people do

[Bug 1477217] Re: Crash while trying to install Kubuntu in VirtualBox vm.

2015-07-22 Thread Johannes Aquila
I may have found the solution. The default disk size for Ubuntu VMs in
VirtualBox is 8 GB, which seems to be on the low side. Apparently the
Kubuntu installer can't deal with that restriction. (Making half of it
an unnecessary swap partition on the first round is clearly a symptom of
this problem!) I have now been successful with a 30 GB disk, while
everything else was the same.

To the extent that there is a bug, it appears to be that the Kubuntu
installer may fail in a non-constructive way on an 8 GB disk.

Could you prepare and upload a debdiff?

will do so over the weekend. At least the control field
Multi-Arch: foreign should be added in Debian as well (I'm going to
prepare another upload). I'm going to check if there are other Ubuntu
changes and if those should be applied in Debian as well.

[Bug 1470250] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups

2015-07-22 Thread Frederik Bosch
@dander88 According to @jrp the message Received an indication that the
operating parameters on this target have changed. The Linux SCSI layer
does not automatically adjust these parameters. is beneign. He
mentioned that in bug 1445195.

Are you just seeing that message or do your systems also go into read-
only mode? From my point of view the SCSI message has no significance to
the read-only bug. The message also pops up with successful backups.

@h-lbuntu-2 What kind of bug do you mean? Also the SCSiI message? Or do
you also have read-only problems?

@cohn I would install them all. Be aware you might have to ignore
dependencies when you are on 14.04 and go to kernel 3.19, e.g. binutils.
Run dpkg --ignore-depends=binutils -i *.deb to install them. It is fine
to do that: those dependencies can be ignored without problems.

In many ways, this is a continuation of bug 92845. Details are available

A long-standing feature request was for single-sign-on -- where logging
in would automatically unlock kwallet. (A very useful feature.) The
issue was raised in 2004 with bug 92845 and was finally addressed in
2014. However, about a year later, this feature was removed with the
transition to KDE 5.

Please bring this feature back! (We already waited a decade!)

Reproducible: Always

I checked kwalletd/kwallet codes and found it is REALLY difficult to
change runtime kwallet password via pam_sm_chauthtok. kwallet load
everything to memory, if password changed via kwalletmanager5, it will
sync back via kwallet backend. change 'salt' from outside can not
change the password of wallet.

[Bug 1048430] Re: dnsmasq not available on the bus

2015-07-22 Thread Stéphane Berthelot
I also encounter this bug on fresh Kubuntu 15.04 install. I'm on SSD I don't
know if the daemons starting speed has somthing to do with this.
I suppose NM gets the DNS info (from DHCP), tries to notify dnsmasq. Since
dnsmasq is not yet started it launches it but I don't see any retry afterwards
to send DNS info to dnsmasq once started.
The symptoms for me are working IP stacks (both 4 and 6), correct routing, but
with all DNS requests refused (by 127.0.1.1).
Restarting NM after makes everything work as expected (dnsmasq is then already
started)
How can I see if NM retries to pass the DNS info to dnsmasq once started ?

That's what I get on boot, nothing about NM or dnsmasq after, until I
restart NM service.

[Bug 1424199] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()

2015-07-22 Thread dino99
An other crash case:

with Wily, some upgraded packages does not end with a crash. But each time a
package upgrade is calling libc6-bin (lastest called process seen inside the
install dialog box from synaptic) i'm getting a freeze for a few seconds then
crash with the same reported here.
Glancing at libc6-bin inside the archive, that package does not exist anymore
but Precise (but still exist in Debian Sid archive)
So that could be some script(s) calling it but not finding it indeed.

[Bug 1476201] Re: Dynamic double buffering fails to detect inertial dash scrolling as slow; and stutters

2015-07-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Silly me. Mir seems to be behaving correctly, although I can think of some
improvements. The real issue here is that dynamic double buffering relies on
the compositor (over)scheduling enough frames for the performance detection to
work. That means calling:
mir::compositor::Scene::frames_pending()
and compositing that many frames as a _minimum_. We just haven't added support
for the algorithm fully to qtmir's compositor code yet.

[Bug 1476201] Re: Dynamic double buffering fails to detect inertial dash scrolling as slow; and stutters instead of scaling up to triple buffers.

2015-07-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Actually qtmir can possibly keep using if
(m_surface-buffers_ready_for_compositor(userId) 0)
as it does already.

The problem then is that Mir reduces the return value of that function
prematurely if called in that way. So maybe some fix is still possible
in Mir itself.

[Bug 1461879] Re: Cannot recreate md1 if partitions (ie: md1p1, md1p2) detected

2015-07-22 Thread Igshaan Mesias
Hi,

I had exactly the same behavour with 14.04 if any pre-existing raids were
present.
Installer fails with: partman-auto-raid: Error: incorrect directory for
/dev/mdXXX

I can only confirm that wiping disks with dd gets you passed this,
however, using mdadm to zero the superblock instead may just work, I
have not tested this.

Kind Regards,
