[Bug 1483668] [NEW] Remove use of autopilot simulated keyboard when using OSK
Public bug reported: It is now the case that if Unity8 detects a keyboard it will automatically hide the OSK and stop it from appearing. This includes the simulated keyboard used by Autopilot. Now that textfield.write() supports using OSK, we should remove all instances of the autopilot simulated keyboard when the OSK is being used. The simulated keyboard is currently used to send Home and End key events to move the cursor to the start or end of a string, because these keys are not present on the OSK. Some new helper methods in ubuntu_keyboard now allow the Home and End key events to be sent through the maliit-server without having to create a new simulated keyboard, which would cause Unity8 to hide the OSK. So the textfield helper methods should be updated to use the new helpers from ubuntu_keyboard and remove usage of the autopilot simulated keyboard when the OSK is being used. ** Affects: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Richard Huddie (rhuddie) Status: New ** Branch linked: lp:~canonical-platform-qa/ubuntu-ui- toolkit/fix-1483668-osk-remove-simulated-keyboard ** Changed in: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Richard Huddie (rhuddie) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483668 Title: Remove use of autopilot simulated keyboard when using OSK To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1483668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1483637] Re: ufw init doesn't start in vivid kernel
Thank you for using Ubuntu and filing a bug. I don't see this here (just tested in an up to date vivid VM-- add a rule, reboot, firewall is up). ufw does not support ULOG so I'm not sure why the lack of kernel config would have this effect. [Bug 1483751] Re: Issues traversing a sftp server when files or folders contain the character ]
** Description changed: I am unsure if the bug is with openssh sftp client or within openssh- sftp-server When traversing an sftp server, I encounter issues for files and, in particular, directories containing the character ]. Tab completion - does not escape the character, however, if I cd into a directory that + does not escape the character in sftp shell, however, in bash it will + escape the character for tab completion. If I cd into a directory that contains the character I cannot get any files with in that directory and I have to rename the directory outside of the sftp shell to remove the character in order to be able to correctly get files. Ex: sftp cd Movie\ \[1080p]/ sftp ls - Movie.1080p.mp4 + Movie.1080p.mp4 sftp get Movie.1080p.mp4 File /home/hitsuji/movies/Movie [1080p]/Movie.1080p.mp4 not found. sftp ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: openssh-client 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-45.60~14.04.1-generic 3.16.7-ckt14 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-45-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.11 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue Aug 11 14:36:00 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-01 (101 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release amd64 (20150218.1) RelatedPackageVersions: - ssh-askpass N/A - libpam-sshN/A - keychain N/A - ssh-askpass-gnome 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2 + ssh-askpass N/A + libpam-sshN/A + keychain N/A + ssh-askpass-gnome 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2 SSHClientVersion: OpenSSH_6.6.1p1 Ubuntu-2ubuntu2, OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014 SourcePackage: openssh UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483751 Title: Issues traversing a sftp server when files or folders contain the character ] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1483751/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1479732] Re: systemd causes mess in /var/tmp
I just have three systemd-private* dirs in /var/tmp/, which is very far from enormous. Three because three .service files declare a PrivateTmp (colord, rtkit-daemon, timesyncd). But they should be cleaned up on shut down, so supposedly that doesn't happen for you. [Bug 1483742] Re: do-release-upgrade 12.04 fails
OK, I find a couple other people had this problem, and bug #1357566 seems to be pretty much the same. A contributor writes that he resolved this by removing libkrb5-3 and then the upgrade went smoothly. I remember fighting with libkrb53 and libkrb5-3 when I updated to 12.04, because openssh-server was not working correctly. It's been too long and I don't remember but I THINK I had to remove libkrb53 and install libkrb5-3 to make openssh-server happy. So it's not just Postgres that takes a hit from removing this. I'm not going to try removing libkrb5-3 and rerunning things just yet until I can do some more homework - maybe some testing on another server to see if I can remove it, run an upgrade, and then reinstall it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483742 Title: do-release-upgrade 12.04 fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1483742/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1467790] Re: Location settings inconsistent between first-run setup + System Settings
--- Design Comment --- 11/08/2015 Please see designs attached. ** Attachment added: Wi-fi list view.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1467790/+attachment/4442925/+files/Wi-fi%20list%20view.png ** Description changed: Ubuntu 15.04 r35 1. Go through the first-run setup, paying particular attention to the Location step. 2. In System Settings, open Security Privacy Location access. What you see: 1. The options are presented using checkboxes. 2. Exactly the same options are presented using an ItemSelector. What you should see: The options are presented in exactly the same way, except for their color scheme, on both screens. Any design changes always show up on both screens. This bug occurs because the screens are implemented separately: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-team/unity8/trunk/view/head:/qml/Wizard/Pages/50-location.qml#L58 http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~system-settings-touch/ubuntu-system-settings/trunk/view/head:/plugins/security-privacy/Location.qml#L93 Even if the implementations were synced, it is almost inevitable that sometime later, designers and/or engineers would forget to update one when updating the other. [Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation
@teo1978: Yeah, I fully agree. I recommended Ubuntu LTS to everyone I know that has been willing to either give Ubuntu a try or to users that have completely switched from Windows. My words, after they asked me why I recommend LTS over normal Ubuntu: Use LTS if you prefer stability, support and reliability. And now I am eating my own words. It's nice to see this bug is getting fixed... finally... but it's sad it took so long in the first place. A lot of my friends were left with an unstable or malfunctioning system and that's a real show stopping issue, especially because the issue came unexpected after updating the system as usual. Ever since reporting this bug, I have switched to an AMD 6000 series GPU, using the open and free AMD drivers Ubuntu ships and activates at default. It's been awesome so far, gaming-wise as well. So, personally, I am not going to lose any sleep over this issue anymore. But my friends are still using Nvidia hardware + Ubuntu 14.04.2/3 LTS and I'd like to know if the faulty Nvidia drivers (331.x?) available via the Ubuntu repos have been replaced with the drivers mentioned in this bug report that include the fix - or is the solution to activate the unstable testing/proposed repo the only way out of this mess? Any kind of feedback is appreciated! Thanks! [Bug 1483708] [NEW] Popovers became very narrow in UITK 1.3
Public bug reported: I recently updated all the imports of Ubuntu.Components (and submodules) to 1.3 in webbrowser-app. One visible side-effect of that is that popovers have become much narrower than they used to be. The browser app uses popovers for context menus (triggered by a long press or a right click on e.g. a hyperlink) and for bookmark options when bookmarking a page. Bookmark options look okayish, but context menus are much too narrow, resulting in some entries not being entirely readable (see attached screenshot), especially in languages that are more verbose than English. ** Affects: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Christian Dywan (kalikiana) Status: Confirmed ** Attachment added: narrow-context-menu.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483708/+attachment/4442892/+files/narrow-context-menu.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483708 Title: Popovers became very narrow in UITK 1.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1483708/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1483765] [NEW] The browser user-agent string should be dynamic, reacting to form factor changes
Public bug reported: To support a converged desktop scenario, the browser user agent string needs to be recalculated as the form factor changes. Currently it is set, according to a set of heuristics, at startup time, and not re- evaluated during the lifetime of the browser app. There are some more aspects to that bug. 1. What are the heuristics for determining the form-factor, and which form factors to support? Ideally, this is an SDK API we can just re-use. 2. When should the UA be updated? Again, ideally this would be on form factor changes, based on a signal. So which service will deliver that signal? 3. The overrides need also to be dynamic as well, so how many sets are supported, ie depending on the set of form factors supported, we need as many overrides 4. This extends to not only webbrowser-app but more importantly webapp- container, where overrides are a lot more widespread, and not centrally maintained 5. When the UA and / or the form factor changes, parts of webbrowser-app or webapp-container may want to further react, for example to reload the page. ** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Description changed: To support a converged desktop scenario, the browser user agent string needs to be recalculated as the form factor changes. Again, ideally this would be on form factor changes, based on a signal. So which service will deliver that signal? 3. The overrides need also to be dynamic as well, so how many sets are supported, ie depending on the set of form factors supported, we need as many overrides 4. This extends to not only webbrowser-app but more importantly webapp- container, where overrides are a lot more widespread, and not centrally maintained + + 5. When the UA and / or the form factor changes, parts of webbrowser-app + or webapp-container may want to further react, for example to reload the + page. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483765 Title: The browser user-agent string should be dynamic, reacting to form factor changes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+bug/1483765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1483816] [NEW] problem using loopback sound device

This is to take the microphone input and write it to the loopback device. (this is just a test. once I have this working, I plan to pipe through sox to modify the sound) I find that when I do this and record, I get no sound at all.
