[Bug 1483668] [NEW] Remove use of autopilot simulated keyboard when using OSK

2015-08-11 Thread Richard Huddie
Public bug reported:

It is now the case that if Unity8 detects a keyboard it will
automatically hide the OSK and stop it from appearing. This includes the
simulated keyboard used by Autopilot.

Now that textfield.write() supports using OSK, we should remove all
instances of the autopilot simulated keyboard when the OSK is being
used. The simulated keyboard is currently used to send Home and End key
events to move the cursor to the start or end of a string, because these
keys are not present on the OSK.

Some new helper methods in ubuntu_keyboard now allow the Home and End
key events to be sent through the maliit-server without having to create
a new simulated keyboard, which would cause Unity8 to hide the OSK. So
the textfield helper methods should be updated to use the new helpers
from ubuntu_keyboard and remove usage of the autopilot simulated
keyboard when the OSK is being used.

[Bug 1483637] Re: ufw init doesn't start in vivid kernel

2015-08-11 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thank you for using Ubuntu and filing a bug. I don't see this here (just
tested in an up to date vivid VM-- add a rule, reboot, firewall is up).
ufw does not support ULOG so I'm not sure why the lack of kernel config
would have this effect. Can you run this command on the affected system:
'apport-collect 1483637'? Also, can you attach the output of 'sudo
/usr/share/ufw/check-requirements'?

The aptd one was attributed to bug #1022993. The python one brought me
here. I will see if the Skype one takes me to the item that doko
mentions above.

[Bug 1483751] Re: Issues traversing a sftp server when files or folders contain the character ]

2015-08-11 Thread Shane O'Sullivan
** Description changed:

I am unsure if the bug is with openssh sftp client or within openssh-
  sftp-server

When traversing an sftp server, I encounter issues for files and, in
particular, directories containing the character ]. Tab completion
- does not escape the character, however, if I cd into a directory that
+ does not escape the character in sftp shell, however, in bash it will
+ escape the character for tab completion. If I cd into a directory that
contains the character I cannot get any files with in that directory and
I have to rename the directory outside of the sftp shell to remove the
character in order to be able to correctly get files.

  Ex:

  sftp cd Movie\ \[1080p]/
  sftp ls
- Movie.1080p.mp4
+ Movie.1080p.mp4
  sftp get Movie.1080p.mp4
  File /home/hitsuji/movies/Movie [1080p]/Movie.1080p.mp4 not found.

[Bug 1479732] Re: systemd causes mess in /var/tmp

2015-08-11 Thread Martin Pitt
I just have three systemd-private* dirs in /var/tmp/, which is very far
from enormous. Three because three .service files declare a PrivateTmp
(colord, rtkit-daemon, timesyncd). But they should be cleaned up on shut
down, so supposedly that doesn't happen for you. Would you mind enabling
persistant journal (see /usr/share/doc/systemd/README.Debian),
rebooting, and attaching the journal from the previous boot with

  sudo journalctl -b -1 /tmp/journal.txt

?

[Bug 1483742] Re: do-release-upgrade 12.04 fails

2015-08-11 Thread Paul Marxhausen
OK, I find a couple other people had this problem, and bug #1357566
seems to be pretty much the same. A contributor writes that he resolved
this by removing libkrb5-3 and then the upgrade went smoothly.

I remember fighting with libkrb53 and libkrb5-3 when I updated to 12.04,
because openssh-server was not working correctly. It's been too long
and I don't remember but I THINK I had to remove libkrb53 and install
libkrb5-3 to make openssh-server happy.

So it's not just Postgres that takes a hit from removing this. I'm not
going to try removing libkrb5-3 and rerunning things just yet until I
can do some more homework - maybe some testing on another server to see
if I can remove it, run an upgrade, and then reinstall it.

  File /home/hitsuji/movies/Movie [1080p]/Movie.1080p.mp4 not found.
  sftp

[Bug 1467790] Re: Location settings inconsistent between first-run setup + System Settings

2015-08-11 Thread Grazina
--- Design Comment ---
 11/08/2015

Please see designs attached.

** Attachment added: Wi-fi list view.png

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1467790/+attachment/4442925/+files/Wi-fi%20list%20view.png

** Description changed:

  Ubuntu 15.04 r35

  1. Go through the first-run setup, paying particular attention to the
Location step.
  2. In System Settings, open Security Privacy Location access.

  What you see:
  1. The options are presented using checkboxes.
  2. Exactly the same options are presented using an ItemSelector.

What you should see: The options are presented in exactly the same way,
except for their color scheme, on both screens. Any design changes
always show up on both screens.

This bug occurs because the screens are implemented separately:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-team/unity8/trunk/view/head:/qml/Wizard/Pages/50-location.qml#L58

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~system-settings-touch/ubuntu-system-settings/trunk/view/head:/plugins/security-privacy/Location.qml#L93
Even if the implementations were synced, it is almost inevitable that
sometime later, designers and/or engineers would forget to update one when
updating the other.

It may save time to fix bug 1388178 at the same time as this bug.

The equivalent for Wi-Fi settings is bug 1467438.

Tested your kernel, it is working fine!

As you said, the error message only appears once!

Thank you!

I guess this can be merged...

[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation

2015-08-11 Thread Alexander Chr. Tornow
@teo1978:

Yeah, I fully agree. I recommended Ubuntu LTS to everyone I know that
has been willing to either give Ubuntu a try or to users that have
completely switched from Windows. My words, after they asked me why I
recommend LTS over normal Ubuntu: Use LTS if you prefer stability,
support and reliability.

And now I am eating my own words.

It's nice to see this bug is getting fixed... finally... but it's sad it
took so long in the first place. A lot of my friends were left with an
unstable or malfunctioning system and that's a real show stopping issue,
especially because the issue came unexpected after updating the system
as usual. Ever since reporting this bug, I have switched to an AMD 6000
series GPU, using the open and free AMD drivers Ubuntu ships and
activates at default. It's been awesome so far, gaming-wise as well.

So, personally, I am not going to lose any sleep over this issue
anymore. But my friends are still using Nvidia hardware + Ubuntu
14.04.2/3 LTS and I'd like to know if the faulty Nvidia drivers (331.x?)
available via the Ubuntu repos have been replaced with the drivers
mentioned in this bug report that include the fix - or is the solution
to activate the unstable testing/proposed repo the only way out of this
mess?

Any kind of feedback is appreciated!

Thanks!

Cheers,
Alex

[Bug 1483708] [NEW] Popovers became very narrow in UITK 1.3

2015-08-11 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

I recently updated all the imports of Ubuntu.Components (and submodules)
to 1.3 in webbrowser-app. One visible side-effect of that is that
popovers have become much narrower than they used to be. The browser app
uses popovers for context menus (triggered by a long press or a right
click on e.g. a hyperlink) and for bookmark options when bookmarking a
page.

Bookmark options look okayish, but context menus are much too narrow,
resulting in some entries not being entirely readable (see attached
screenshot), especially in languages that are more verbose than English.

[Bug 1483751] [NEW] Issues traversing a sftp server when files or folders contain the character ]

2015-08-11 Thread Shane O'Sullivan
Public bug reported:

I am unsure if the bug is with openssh sftp client or within openssh-
sftp-server

When traversing an sftp server, I encounter issues for files and, in
particular, directories containing the character ]. Tab completion
does not escape the character in sftp shell, however, in bash it will
escape the character for tab completion. If I cd into a directory that
contains the character I cannot get any files with in that directory and
I have to rename the directory outside of the sftp shell to remove the
character in order to be able to correctly get files.

Ex:

sftp cd Movie\ \[1080p]/
sftp ls
Movie.1080p.mp4
sftp get Movie.1080p.mp4
File /home/hitsuji/movies/Movie [1080p]/Movie.1080p.mp4 not found.

[Bug 1483752] [NEW] Trusted prompts make application inactive: Qt.application.active == false

2015-08-11 Thread Florian Boucault
Public bug reported:

When a trusted prompt shows up the application becomes inactive,
concretely QML applications receive a signal that Qt.application.active
has changed to 'false'.

This is will be an issue for example in the case of the camera-app
trying to start recording a video, a pulseaudio trusted prompt will show
up to ask for permission to record from the microphone but the camera-
app believing that it's become inactive will immediately stop the
recording.

[Bug 1483762] [NEW] [SRU] ship new public cert

2015-08-11 Thread Dustin Kirkland 
Public bug reported:

Pollinate ships entropy.ubuntu.com's public certificate for tighter
security.

This certificate has been updated and pollinate needs to be updated.
The previous certificate is expiring at Thursday, October 15, 2015 at
11:10:53 AM.

[Impact]
Any new 14.04 (Trusty) cloud instance with a down-level version of pollinate
will fail to seed their PRNG from entropy.ubuntu.com, after Thursday, October
15, 2015 at 11:10:53 AM.

[Test Case]
Run:
 $ sudo pollinate -r
to reseed your PRNG. If you have the old version of pollinate, you'll get
certificate errors (See Comment #1), and it will exit non-zero. If you have the
new version (already uploaded to ppa:pollinate/ppa, utopic, trusty-proposed),
it will work again and exit zero (see Comment #2).

[Regression Potential]
Negligible. A single file is updated with a new public SSL certificate for
https://entropy.ubuntu.com, in /etc/pollinate/entropy.ubuntu.com.pem

[Bug 1467438] Re: Wi-Fi network list inconsistent between first-run setup, System Settings, and indicator

2015-08-11 Thread Grazina
Please see design attached.

** Description changed:

  1. Go through the first-run setup, paying particular attention to the
Connect to Wi-Fi step.
  2. In System Settings, open Wi-Fi.
  3. Open the Network menu.

What you see: The three lists have inconsistent margins, icon sizes, and
padlock placements. Probably they also have different ellipsis
placement, different handling of useless ad-hoc networks, and different
  accessible labels.

What you should see: The three lists are identical except in color
scheme. Any design changes always show up in all three lists.

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking#wi-fi-network: For consistency
across all these sites, except where otherwise specified...

The equivalent for location settings is bug 1467790.

[Bug 1483765] [NEW] The browser user-agent string should be dynamic, reacting to form factor changes

2015-08-11 Thread David Barth
Public bug reported:

To support a converged desktop scenario, the browser user agent string
needs to be recalculated as the form factor changes. Currently it is
set, according to a set of heuristics, at startup time, and not re-
evaluated during the lifetime of the browser app.

There are some more aspects to that bug.

1. What are the heuristics for determining the form-factor, and which
form factors to support? Ideally, this is an SDK API we can just re-use.

2. When should the UA be updated? Again, ideally this would be on form
factor changes, based on a signal. So which service will deliver that
signal?

3. The overrides need also to be dynamic as well, so how many sets are
supported, ie depending on the set of form factors supported, we need as
many overrides

4. This extends to not only webbrowser-app but more importantly webapp-
container, where overrides are a lot more widespread, and not centrally
maintained

5. When the UA and / or the form factor changes, parts of webbrowser-app
or webapp-container may want to further react, for example to reload the
page.

** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu)
 Importance: High
 Status: New

[Bug 1483630] Re: linux: 3.19.0-26.28 -proposed tracker

2015-08-11 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Will this new package also revert the patch that break the proprietary ATI
driver?
It is apparently because of 'PCI: Propagate the ignore hotplug setting to
parent'

See Bug 1479913, although I don't think it is reasonable to expect users
to update fglrx before installing this new kernel (and even the driver
currently provided on the AMD website is affected).

[Bug 1477858] Re: btrfs filesystem show shows wrong device

2015-08-11 Thread Ulli Horlacher
Meanwhile I think this is a more deeper Linux bug, because...

This server has (besides some Seagates) 2 Hitachi (HGST) SATA disks, but
Linux shows 3 of them with 2 with the same serial number:

root@toy02:~# lsblk -o NAME,SIZE,FSTYPE,LABEL,MOUNTPOINT
NAME SIZE FSTYPE LABEL MOUNTPOINT
sda 1.8T drbd
sdb 1.8T btrfs data
sdc 1.8T drbd
sdd 1.8T drbd
sde 1.8T drbd
sdf 68G

|-sdf3 14.9G swap swap [SWAP]
`-sdf4 23.3G ext4 tmp /tmp
sr0 1024M
drbd01.8T btrfs data
drbd11.8T
drbd21.8T btrfs data
drbd31.8T btrfs data

root@toy02:~# hdparm -I /dev/sdb| grep Number:
Model Number: HGST HUS724020ALA640
Serial Number: PN2134P5G2P2AX

root@toy02:~# hdparm -I /dev/sdd| grep Number:
Model Number: HGST HUS724020ALA640
Serial Number: PN2134P5G2P2XX

root@toy02:~# hdparm -I /dev/sde| grep Number:
Model Number: HGST HUS724020ALA640
Serial Number: PN2134P5G2P2AX

This is why btrfs gets confused:

root@toy02:~# btrfs_info
/data :

Data, RAID0: total=108.00GiB, used=107.55GiB
System, RAID1: total=32.00MiB, used=16.00KiB
Metadata, RAID1: total=1.00GiB, used=139.59MiB

Label: data uuid: 411af13f-6cae-4f03-99dc-5941acb3135b
Total devices 3 FS bytes used 107.68GiB
devid1 size 1.82TiB used 37.03GiB path /dev/drbd0
devid3 size 1.82TiB used 36.03GiB path /dev/drbd2
devid4 size 1.82TiB used 37.00GiB path /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb is WRONG, it should be /dev/drbd3, because I have expanded the
btrfs filesystem with:

root@toy02:~# btrfs device add -f /dev/drbd3 /data

[Bug 1483410] Re: checkbox-support FTBFS in wily

2015-08-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package checkbox-support - 0.20-1ubuntu2

---
checkbox-support (0.20-1ubuntu2) wily; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/fix-lp1483410-part1: Correct the method of loading unit
tests so that package modules are not loaded as top-level modules
themselves. (Closes LP: #1483410)
  * debian/patches/fix-lp1483410-part2: Iterate over a copy of dictionary keys
so that the loop can correctly remove elements without raising exceptions.
  * debian/control: build-depend on python3-dbus and python3-gi as apparently
tests are importing modules that depend on those.

[Bug 1483806] [NEW] addSource to a Playlist are ignored if it's not part of a player

2015-08-11 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Public bug reported:

I was doing

audio.playlist = null;

playlist.clear();
// Look for newSource in newPlaylist
for (var i in newPlaylist) {
playlist.addSource(newPlaylist[i]);
}
audio.playlist = playlist;

And the addSource didn't do anything, i've now moved the

audio.playlist = playlist;

before the addSource and it works.

[Bug 1483816] [NEW] problem using loopback sound device

2015-08-11 Thread Gideon Walker
Public bug reported:

I am trying a simple test using a loopback sound device.

pacat -r -d alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo.monitor \
--latency=1msec \
| pacat -p -d alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo \
 --latency=1msec

I use the above command. This is to take the microphone input and write
it to the loopback device.

(this is just a test. once I have this working, I plan to pipe through
sox to modify the sound)

I find that when I do this and record, I get no sound at all.

If I record directly from the microphone, then the recording does have
sound.

I am using Ubuntu 14.4.3
