[Bug 1481337] Re: please update keepalived to version 1.2.17 or higher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. In Ubuntu we do not update stable releases with new upstream versions in order to keep stable releases stable, and keepalived in Ubuntu does not currently have an exception on this. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for the policy and rationale. We can still fix specific issues by backporting their fixes from newer upstream releases, so I'll turn this bug into one to track the specific issue you're facing. We can have a separate bug to track the update of keepalived in the development release of Ubuntu (currently Wily) to a newer upstream release, but it doesn't sound like that'll help you since your focus is currently on 14.04. ** Summary changed: - please update keepalived to version 1.2.17 or higher + keepalived makes a floating IP available on more than one host after configuration reload ** Tags added: server-next -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to keepalived in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1481337 Title: keepalived makes a floating IP available on more than one host after configuration reload To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepalived/+bug/1481337/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1483214] Re: ipmi_si module spams kernel log with ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.
SRU Justtification Impact: The driver code changed in 3.19 to do periodic checks on irq and message settings commit d9b7e4f717a167610a49ceb9e5969e80146c89a8 ipmi: Periodically check to see if irqs and messages are set right This causes repeated error messages in the logs for certain BMCs which do not allow to disable the irq mode in the global config even when they do not support irqs. Fix: Cherry-pick upstream commit 1e7d6a45f6b10bc48a1453bca3d829e210546571 which adds a quirk to detect this situation and avoids touching those bits. This was done in 4.0, so the only affected kernel is 3.19. Testcase: With an affected BMC and without the patch, errors repeatedly get logged. With the patch applied, there will be only a single message in the log. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483214 Title: ipmi_si module spams kernel log with ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. In Ubuntu we do not update stable releases with new upstream versions in order to keep stable releases stable, and keepalived in Ubuntu does not currently have an exception on this.
[Bug 1483457] Re: non-virtio devices get named with systemd predictable network interface names
net.ifnames should be set to 0 by default IIUC[1]. It appears that it's not set in the wily kernel used in this image. I don't know where we configure/control the default value. We don't see this issue with virtio-net nics because systemd considers virtio numbers to be unstable[2] and doesn't have a rule to name virtio devices (aka the kernel name get's passed through always). For e1000, this appears in the systemd database and thus gets renamed via the default netrules based on slot location (en, slot 3) - ens3. If we append 'net.ifnames=0' to the cloud image as of today and use an e1000 nic, this skips persistent naming and the cloud image boots as expected. The trouble occurs when we don't have a nic named eth0 due to persistent naming rules triggering and the cloud-image has eth0 embedded into it's filesystem: % cat /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0.cfg # The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp 1. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=762101#105 2. http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/systemd-devel/2014-July/020908.html ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #762101 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=762101 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483457 Title: non-virtio devices get named with systemd predictable network interface names To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1483457/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 901600] Re: Allow /etc/default/grub overriding via /etc/default/grub.d/
This feature looks very useful, but I have not found a shred of documentation for it. The one aspect I can think of that is not completely obvious is the order that the grub default files are read. I did find from reading /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig that all of the /etc/default/grub.d files are read in order, AFTER the /etc/default/grub file. I hope that this point is noted when this feature does appear in the Grub2 docs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/901600 Title: Allow /etc/default/grub overriding via /etc/default/grub.d/ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/901600/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
