[Bug 1635376] Re: double-clicking on an executable created with gcc6 opens an error message
I did a test. I built the same program with gcc5 and gcc6, then I compared the output of "readelf -a". It happens that Nautilus is right. gcc on Ubuntu 16.10 creates a shared library by default instead of an executable (the Type field in the ELF header is different). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635376 Title: double-clicking on an executable created with gcc6 opens an error message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1635376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1635713] [NEW] bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.271 fail to build on yakkety
Public bug reported: Hi, I upgraded from xenial to yakkety, 7 days ago. I didn't have any problem with xenial with kernel 4.4, I can install bcmwl-kernel-source package, and kernel post procedures finish without any error. Before upgrade I tryed some kernels like 4.7 4.8 4.8.1 and 4.9 and I saw that bcmwl-kernel-source package can be installed but DKMS fails to build module, so no WIFI device working. I was hoping the problem will be solved before final release, I have read yakkety will use 4.8 keernel, but when I upgraded to yakkety few days ago I saw it's not, I tryed also to download official source from broadcom sta driver web page, but it's the same. [Bug 1611740] Re: remove grub, superseded by grub2
grub legacy support is indeed removed from grub-installer now (see above upload comment). However, grub is apparently still required when building new AMI instances for EC2. I think it probably best not be removed until we can ascertain its use. I've asked the CPC team already. According to the AWS docs: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/create-instance-store-ami.html grub-legacy is still used to build images. I've used an approximation of that logic to try to make a new AMI, and it looks like things still work without it, except that the status monitoring then fails for the instance. ** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (cyphermox) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611740 Title: remove grub, superseded by grub2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub/+bug/1611740/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Previously inet devices were only constructed when addresses are added. Therefore the default neigh parms values they get are the ones at the time of these operations. Now that we're creating inet devices earlier, this changes the behaviour of default neigh parms values in an incompatible way (see bug #8519). This patch creates a compromise by setting the default values at the same point as before but only for those that have not been explicitly set by the user since the inet device's creation. [Bug 1635691] [NEW] Hardware backlight / brightness keys cause erratic, stuttered and seeming race-condition on DELL Inspiron 14-3452 (3000 series) laptop
Public bug reported: Symptoms appeared after clean-installing Ubuntu 16.10. Worked perfectly using 15.10 & 16.04. DELL Inspiron 14-3452 (3000 series) laptop Latest BIOS ver: 4.0.11 Upon pressing either the XF86monBrightnessUp or XF86monBrightnessDown keys in a Unity-7 session, the OSD appears, sometimes delayed, and begins to lower or raise the backlight level, repeatedly, to the maximum or minimum level. The system comes under load and is less responsive to any input or attempts to cancel / counteract the action. Manual adjustments via the echoing of numbers-in-range to the /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness work normally and as expected.
