[Bug 1635783] [NEW] Regression with suspend 229-4ubuntu4/10 on 32bits old thinkpad t40

2016-10-21 Thread mike
Public bug reported:

(I"m actually on linux mint)

In the live USB and default install, suspend worked correctly
(hibernation didn't). At some point, it stopped working (and hibernation
started working), it just get blocked on a black screen, the laptop is
totally blocked, i have to press the power button.

sudo pm-suspend still works correctly.
systemctl suspend gives the above behavior.

I"m actually on linux mint 18 MATE 32bits, everything upgraded and with
original kernel.
I think it stopped working after the systemd update, still with original
kernel. I tried installing other kernels from the official repos and from
kernel.ubuntu.com, but nothing changed (4.4.1 and 4.8).

I think a regression hapened in systemd somewhere between 229-4ubuntu4(xenial)
and 229-4ubuntu10(xenial)
I couldn't test between 4 and 10.

I can send you logs, if you tell me exactly how and what.

[Bug 1635759] Re: package postfix 3.1.0-3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 75

2016-10-21 Thread Scott Kitterman
This is not a package bug, but a local configuration issue. From the
provided dpkg log:

newaliases: warning: valid_hostname: numeric hostname: 04
newaliases: fatal: file /etc/postfix/main.cf: parameter mydomain: bad parameter
value: 04
dpkg: error processing package postfix (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 75

All numeric host names aren't valid. If you set a valid hostname on the

[Bug 1635303] Re: GnuTLS bug in https method from apt-1.0.1ubuntu2.15 package

2016-10-21 Thread Nikos
I believe you are referring to the 2.12.x branch of gnutls. This has
several issues relating to its TLS 1.2 support, and due to the ABI break
in 3.x releases, fixes related to TLS 1.2 never entered into that
branch. I'm preparing a final release for this branch, including fixes
for all known issues.

[Bug 1634218] Re: [SRU] For Yakkety and Xenial

2016-10-21 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Barry, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubuntu-image into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-
image/0.9+16.04ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

So this time it seems apt gets killed. The VM went away after that, so I
don't have it any more for investigation.

I'm watching another current run and will get its journalctl -f and test
output tail, and will then kill the current runs again as there are a
lot of them, they loop, and they block large amounts of capacity.

[Bug 1371978] Re: video rendering can break with xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.99.914-1~exp1ubuntu3) & opengl output

2016-10-21 Thread James Cowgill
Hi,

I'm afraid I don't have a Haswell machine to test this on, and the bug
is now a bit old. Can you try using a recent version of mpv and the
Intel xorg driver (or even the modesetting driver)? If you can reproduce
the bug with mpv git master, can you file a bug upstream?

Thanks,
James

also noticed other things seem weird such as
- shortcut keys are always showing in right click menu (no way to disable this

- The dividers seem very visually awkward now in the right click menu, on 16.04
is was very flat, now on 16.10 its very deep and gouging to look at.

Re: [Bug 1621803] Re: package python3-scipy 0.17.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-10-21 Thread Sunil
After upgradation to ubuntu 16.04, I have added lmfit package by using
Synaptic. This has installed scipy also.
In Ubyntu 16.04, Python 3.5.2 was already installed as a default.
Hence I removed lmfit ans scipy using Synaptic.
This resolved my error.

[Bug 1635577] [NEW] memory leak in unity-panel-service

2016-10-21 Thread Andreas Büsching
Public bug reported:

I have seen similiar bug reports, but these are really old and are not
related to version 16.10. This is way I'm opening a new one.

Currently the unity-panel-service process uses about 11GB of RAM which
is definitely too much

Additionally to all standard indicators I have used the owncloud and
cpufreq indicator. Don't know if this is related to it.

[Bug 1634867] Re: Memory leak in DownloadJobImpl

2016-10-21 Thread James Henstridge
Before classifying this as a definite leak, it'd be good to work out
some way to return control to the event loop for some period after this
clean-up.

Cancelling a job is potentially an asynchronous operation, so the future
returned by cancel() needs to be kept alive until the future is ready.
We wait for this to happen by attaching a continuation to the future
that will be called later in the event loop.

[Bug 1635601] Re: “Vibrate in Silent Mode” vs. “When in Silent Mode: Vibrate as normal”

2016-10-21 Thread Pat McGowan
The “Sound” panel has a checkbox, “Vibrate in Silent Mode”.
This is clearly related to ringtone and message sound

The “Notification” panel has a radio list, “When in Silent Mode: Vibrate as
normal / Don’t vibrate”.
Mine doesn't? I have a list of apps with 4 options each

[Bug 1635625] [NEW] Some indicator icons are missing after unlocking the screen

2016-10-21 Thread Alin Andrei
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 16.10, some indicator icons are missing (the indicators still
show up, but their icon is missing - screenshot:
http://i.imgur.com/TkxiBRi.png ) after unlocking the screen. This occurs
with both Skype stable and SkypeForLinux Alpha, Electron applications
(like WMail: https://github.com/Thomas101/wmail/releases), and others.

To reproduce it, simply run of the of apps mentioned above, make sure
its AppIndicator icon is visible, then lock the desktop, and unlock it.

Update: quitting any indicator (including those not affected by this)
fixes this issue. Until you lock and then unlock the screen again, then
it occurs once more.

[Bug 1635303] Re: GnuTLS bug in https method from apt-1.0.1ubuntu2.15 package

2016-10-21 Thread deehefem
Thank you for the information. Yes, Ubuntu 14.04 uses the 2.12 branch
(2.12.23-12ubuntu2.5). Pardon my curiosity, but do you have any idea
which issue is the cause of "A TLS packet with unexpected length was
received." when going through a proxy? It may be helpful to pin-point
the problem and pass the information along to our proxy vendor.

Thank you for all your time and effort on GnuTLS!

[Bug 1580356] Re: OpenVPN causes reboot failure on Xenial in AWS

2016-10-21 Thread David Sommerseth
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1598522 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1598522

I am the one who added the systemd unit files to upstream OpenVPN.
These files are now getting a few updates [1] and will ship as the
recommended unit files in the coming OpenVPN 2.4 release.

The OpenVPN team would appreciate if Ubuntu was shipping the upstream
version of these unit files. We try to make all systemd based
distributions use the same ones, as that gives less maintenance burden
on package maintainers as well as a consistent behaviour across all
distributions. Which again helps the support guys on #openvpn @
FreeNode when something isn't working.

With that said, I am happy to see that our versions resolves this issue.
If anyone is interested in helping out testing, fixing and improving
these unit files further, please do not hesitate getting in touch with
us on #openvpn-devel @ FreeNode.

[Bug 1628376] Re: Messages not configurable in the notification settings

2016-10-21 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I don’t see why this is a design bug. Is there anything in the
Notification settings design that would lead anyone to think that the
list of apps should *not* include Messages?

The only thing I can think of is that in the design for the “Sound”
settings, the “Message received” list
is supposed to — but doesn’t
currently — include a “None” option. Once implemented, that would be an
alternative way of turning off message sounds, but not message bubbles.
It would be weird if engineers had both omitted to implement the “None”
option, AND deliberately excluded Messages from the Notification
settings entirely on the grounds that the “None” option would duplicate
part of it if it existed.

[Bug 1634579] Re: Deprecation warnings for openstackclient

2016-10-21 Thread Corey Bryant
Thanks for the bug report.

I'm not able to reproduce this with 3.2.0-0ubuntu2~cloud0 from the
newton cloud archive.

It appears that for some reason the following file is still being imported in
your case:
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/openstackclient/common/utils.py

Can you run with the following and see if we can find where that's being
imported?
python -m trace --trace /usr/bin/openstack --version | grep import | grep
common | grep utils

[Bug 1632027] Re: New Document feature missing from Nautilus 3.20+

2016-10-21 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Bronson, this bug is only about the "New Document" feature. I don't
think any of the other stuff you mentioned is directly related to this
issue. Please file a separate bug for each separate issue. That will
make it much easier to see the status of a specific issue.

[Bug 1618803] Re: tcsh crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___rewinddir()

2016-10-21 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Last time I checked it wasn't fixed in Debian either, otherwise we could
have asked to update the Ubuntu package. As far as I know it is fixed in
the development version of Fedora.

[Bug 1634465] Re: libmysqlclient20 dependency issue

2016-10-21 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

We don't treat an issue affecting third party repositories as bugs in
Ubuntu. But in this case the versioned dependency can be dropped anyway,
so we can do that for you at least in the development release. So I'll
leave this open but with Importance: Low.

I'm not sure if this qualifies for an update in Xenial. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for our policies, rationale
and procedure. Perhaps we could bundle it in other updates though, if
others agree that it is a no-op with no regression risk. So I'll create
a task for Xenial and leave it open.

There are two "proper" solutions for Ubuntu. One is to package it in the
distribution the traditional way so that it is properly integrated. The
other is for Codership to ship a snap, which untangles what they want to
ship as an external third party with what the distribution ships.
