@sup: > Michael - if you installed from the Calibre site, that is not a ubuntu bug, > sorry Yes, I know that, which is why I filed a bug upstream in the first place, and only linked to it from here. @r0lf: > Yeah, you really have to wonder sometimes what people are thinking (if they > are). "People" are probably thinking that a short comment noting that: a) the issue also exists when the upstream code is installed (therefore, whatever else is going on, it probably isn't a packaging issue per-se) b) that the issue also exists for other versions of the application and other versions of the OS (therefore, it probably isn't a regression per-se in either) c) and pointing to a detailed bug report (which may help with reproducing the issue) … would be seen as *helpful*, and that such comments wouldn't be immediately dismissed with a knee-jerk reaction as uninformed by someone who has obvious issues with reading comprehension, situational awareness, socialization. Upon reflection, I suppose it *is* rather foolish and naive of "people" to think any of that. [Bug 1660388] [NEW] Window decorator corruption
Public bug reported: After switching back from another user or after lock screen I occasionally get corruption. This usually takes a few weeks after a restart to reproduce. Might be related to nvidia drivers or mesa, or compiz, or something else. Experienced this before recent update to mesa 12.0.6, so I don't think this is a mesa regression. Decorations shown in jpg move with window, but are not selectable. Opening against unity, as the unity taskbar often shares similar corruption. [Bug 1652270] Re: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2
I have looked a little deeper into the packages and have found the script linux-firmware-raspi2.postinst inside linux-firmware-raspi2. The script changes the device_tree_address in the config.txt from 0x0200 to 0x02008000 0x0200 is the value which is inside the config.txt on my raspi2. This ensures that the raspi2 can successfully boot after the upgrade. I think the following lines in the .postinst script could fix the problem: if grep -q "device_tree_address=0x100" /boot/firmware/config.txt; then sed -i.bak 's/device_tree_address=0x100/device_tree_address=0x02008000/' /boot/firmware/config.txt fi if grep -q "device_tree_end=0x8000" /boot/firmware/config.txt; then sed -i.bak '/device_tree_end=0x8000/d' /boot/firmware/config.txt fi I did a quick shell test and the config.txt was changed as expected. Not shure if it is the best way to handle it, but it should work ;-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652270 Title: Could not boot into RPi3 with kernel 4.4.0-1038-raspi2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/+bug/1652270/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1602192] Re: when starting many LXD containers, they start failing to boot with "Too many open files"
This bug is fixed for the local LXD provider scenario for 2.0 on Xenial with this commit - http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~juju- qa/ubuntu/xenial/juju/2.0.0/revision/214 - in which the juju-2.0.conf file has the settings identified and dropped into /usr/lib/sysctl.d. Unfortunately, this only addresses the case of the local LXD provider and not any other LXD usage. For example, if you do a high density deployment using MAAS + LXD, this code only applies to the juju-2.0 packages which are installed on the machine where the juju client is run. This means that any of the other possible uses of the LXD containers within Juju are receiving the same benefit from this tweak. So to me it feels like there's a fix committed and even released, however it only partially solves tuning the system for higher density of LXD containers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602192 Title: when starting many LXD containers, they start failing to boot with "Too many open files" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/juju/+bug/1602192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 875676] Re: Backing up fails with 'IOError CRC check failed'.
There is a disconnect between Ubuntu distribution and upstream distribution (me). Ubuntu will not, repeat will not, allow changes that add functionality, or upgrade the version number of a product in a distribution. I can't live with that, so my distribution version changes with every release. Before you upgrade manually, apt remove the old version of duplicity and install from one of the sources below to stay up-to-date. Please upgrade to the current version of duplicity. This will assure that any bugs fixed since your release are available and my fix your issue. There are three options: - Release tarball Install - https://launchpad.net/duplicity/+download - Daily duplicity builds - https://launchpad.net/~duplicity-team/+archive/ubuntu/daily - Stable duplicity builds - https://launchpad.net/~duplicity-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa On Mon, Jan 30, 2017 at 8:04 AM, Matej Kovacic <875...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > No that it is not good. [Bug 1660456] [NEW] esix package consumes 100% cpu
Public bug reported: Ubuntu release: Description:Ubuntu 16.10 Release:16.10 Package & version: esix: Installed: 1-2ubuntu1 Candidate: 1-2ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1-2ubuntu1 500 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/multiverse amd64 Packages 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/multiverse i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Expected results: 1. Launch esix in terminal 2. Interact with ESI-X language REPL Actual results: 1. Launch esix in terminal 2. Interact with ESI-X language REPL 3. Computer CPU usage climbs to 100% as REPL busy-waits for input. Suggested bug fix: Modify /usr/share/esix/esix.cfg from: load esix.bin run 5400 to set cpu idle load esix.bin run 5400 This will cause the simh PDP-8 emulator that runs the ESI-X binary to throttle down when it detects a busy loop. It may take 25-30 seconds for CPU usage to calm down. Severity: Low, but rampant CPU usage is a bit rude. Notes: 1. This is almost certainly an upstream bug, but the Debian maintainer has abandoned the package. 2. It may be helpful to note in the documentation that esix can be exited by typing Ctrl-E, then `quit` from the PDP-8 simulator shell. 3.
