[Bug 1727053] [NEW] Ubuntu cant be installed, Problem with CD drive or something else
Public bug reported: Hello First I had windows 10 on my HP laptop. But I was very unhappy with it. So I tried to install others services like Linux or Ubuntu but I had a lot of struggles to install the ISO and burn it on CD, so I bought the CD Ubuntu 10.10. Now I tried to boot and install with this CD but I got new problems, the System says something is wrong with CD drives (?). My Question how can I fix it and at least install Ubuntu. [Bug 1725418] Re: libpoppler64 uninstallable on Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark)
Ok, then it's upstream's thing (they did the build in August, but in early September there was the relevant poppler transition in Ubuntu artful - regular business in a development release); reassigning back, they only need to do a no-change (well, bumping the version) upload to artful. Please consider the provide of the binaries every time you file a bug unless it's clear what it is referring to. BTW, IMHO there is no need to use the PPA in artful, as the version is the very same and the differences in the building negligible. ** Package changed: inkscape (Ubuntu) => inkscape -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725418 Title: libpoppler64 uninstallable on Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1725418/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1673344] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 doesn't recongnize wifi card after loosing signal completely (intel 7260) even when I try to restart network manager
Against my wishes I've updated to 17.10 along with the kernel and drivers that come with it. And it still fails. Works for a few minutes then goes permanently to a "Device not ready" until the next reboot. But now it's even worse because it also trashes every single other wifi device I have. When that one fails, my Ralink 802.11g WLAN also becomes "Device not ready". And my Realtek 802.11n WLAN Adapter also becomes "Device not ready" However, running dmesg gives a completely different reading: "iwlwifi :03:00.0 Could not load the [0] uCode section" "iwlwifi :03:00.0 Failed to start INIT ucode: -5" "iwlwifi :03:00.0 Failed to run INIT ucode: -5" So...what? [Bug 1726912] Re: fails to keep dhcplease
I have verified this is reproducible on other systems with ixgbe based add in cards. igb (1G) cards seem to behave properly as do a random assortment of onboard devices and virtio devices inside VMs. Based on a pseudo random selection of my available gear it does seem hardware specific but this is our only flavor of 10G nic (and we have kindof a lot of them). [Bug 1726960] Re: Installation of network-manager-config-connectivity-ubuntu fails when installing ubuntu-desktop task from mini.iso
Sebastien: Yeah, it complains because when it tries to execute its postinstall tasks, the Network Manager service isn't yet started. My suggestion would be to test if the service is actually in a 'running' state or not before trying to install, and if not, attempt to start the service. That's probably just a handful of lines in the postinst file, but that's the exact error, it fails to configure proper in its postinstallation tasks because the service wasn't running and it couldn't connect to it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1726960 Title: Installation of network-manager-config-connectivity-ubuntu fails when installing ubuntu-desktop task from mini.iso To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1726960/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1726960] Re: Installation of network-manager-config-connectivity-ubuntu fails when installing ubuntu-desktop task from mini.iso
Note that if you manually start the network manager service and then do `apt-get install -f` or `sudo dpkg-reconfigure network-manager-config- connectivity-ubuntu`, it appears to work. So something in the apt ordering is not starting network manager once it's been installed, so a `sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop^` call as per the wiki to emulate the tasksel task itself post-install of the system will fail only on that package. This assumes of course one's starting from a barebones mini.iso installation, and hasn't done any custom configuration.

[Bug 1726093] Re: ubuntu-desktop: Install gir1.2-gmenu-3.0 by default
** Changed in: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => In Progress ** Description changed: Impact == Ubuntu doesn't install particular files ( gir1.2-gmenu-3.0 ) that are needed by several popular GNOME Shell extensions. Test Case = Install the update to Ubuntu 17.10. Open the Ubuntu Software app. Search for Arc Menu Install it. There should be an A menu in the top left of the screen. Other Info == Debian-based distros are somewhat unique in that they split gir files into separate packages. This is normally not a problem since .deb packages should simply depend on the packages they need. It is a bit of a problem for GNOME Shell extensions distributed through extensions.gnome.org since they can't depend on system packages except as a comment in the extension description that may or may be read even if it is mentioned. Specifically, there are several extensions that add a traditional applications menu to GNOME Shell. These usually need gir1.2-gmenu-3.0. This wasn't noticed much before because both Debian GNOME and Ubuntu GNOME installed the gnome-shell-extensions package by default which depends on gir1.2-gmenu-3.0. Now though, it just feels to users like Ubuntu is broken. I've read comments that think that Ubuntu is intentionally trying to make it difficult to use these app menu extensions. + + Approved at the Ubuntu Desktop meeting (discussion continues until 15:09) + https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2017/10/24/%23ubuntu-desktop.html#t14:44 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1726093 Title: ubuntu-desktop: Install gir1.2-gmenu-3.0 by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/1726093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1726160] Re: On login, display rotates to wrong orientation [HP Pavilion]
I am reassigning this bug to the kernel since that's usually who the iio-sensor-proxy developer blames for issues like this. You can try filing an issue with iio-sensor-proxy though. https://github.com/hadess/iio-sensor-proxy/ If you open the system status menu in the far right of the top bar, you can click the icon at the bottom of the menu that looks like a rotated rectangle to lock or unlock screen auto-rotation. Someone did and today's results were still a fail. > I'll try again with a CPAN ack 2.18 or the Debian src tar, but I'd > expect same results since CPANTS only reports sporadic failures for ack > 2.18 on Windows; Perl 5.26 on GNU/Linux looks fine there. Please, note that autopkgtest setup is different from the usual test environment for Perl modules, i.e. you only have the binary packages installed and the tests, no other build context is available. Thus, successfully running "make test" after building the module doesn't mean that autopkgtest will pass those tests too. You can find the setup details for Debian in http://pkg-perl.alioth.debian.org/autopkgtest.html#SETUP You may need to adapt them a bit to run autopkgtest locally for Ubuntu, but I think it should work fine to reproduce the fail. The --shell-fail option for autopkgtest should help with the debugging of this issue. I don't think it's used by default for IMSM raid installation. That's why your devices were likely set up by dmraid first. [Bug 1666676] Re: Install tracker by default
** Description changed: - For Nautilus' built-in search to not be very slow, Nautilus needs to use - tracker for search. + Benefits + + + 1. It speeds up searching for files in the Files app. + + 2. It enables full-text search in the Files app. In other words, you can + look for files that contain specific words, instead of searching just by + filename. + + 3. It allows the Batch Rename feature in the Files app able to rename + based on file metadata. For instance, you can use the Artist name for + properly tagged music files as part of the new file name. + + Other Info + -- + You can customize the folders it indexes from Settings > Search > gear button. + + Original Bug Report + === + For Nautilus' built-in search to not be very slow, Nautilus needs to use tracker for search. This is especially important since it's being seriously proposed for Ubuntu 17.10 that we drop the "type-ahead search" patch that reverted the removal of that feature by Nautilus years ago. (LP: #181) To not cripple Ubuntu GNOME, it was previously decided to let Nautilus build against tracker but not use that functionality on Unity. See this patch: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu- desktop/nautilus/ubuntu/view/head:/debian/patches/ubuntu_tracker_only_on_GNOME.patch This bug is requesting that patch be dropped and the extra tracker components be allowed into main and installed by default in Unity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176 Title: Install tracker by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
