Great, so we have a fix for brother brscan3 scanners too.

Ah yes, linking is definitely a better way than copying (you may forgive
me, my workaround was only a first try).

Now we only need to know if, brscan, brscan2 and brscan4 scanners can be fixed
too by linking directories

[Bug 1727355] Re: Juju attempts to bootstrap bionic by default

2017-11-03 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
For SRU verification, we want to ensure juju bootstrap still selects
xenial, even after distro-info-data shows bionic as an LTS.

I confirmed using the restored distro-info-data packages in zesty and
xenial proposed that juju is selecting xenial as the proper default
series. In addition, I confirmed juju will select bionic as the new
default on it's prescribed release day.

[Bug 1652282] Re: Xwayland not using XAUTHORITY, prevents root applications from connecting

2017-11-03 Thread Phillip Susi
It is a shame that you are unwilling to make a simple configuration
change to prevent a completely broken experience for your users. People
get very frustrated when they try to open an application and nothing
happens. No error message; nothing. All because of a silly default
policy. This is not a very Ubuntu thing to do.

[Bug 1729637] Re: Samba mount/umount in docker container triggers kernel Oops

2017-11-03 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I built Xenial and Zesty test kernels with the following two commits:

12d94a804946 ("ipv6: fix NULL dereference in ip6_route_dev_notify()")
76da0704507b ("ipv6: only call ip6_route_dev_notify() once for
NETDEV_UNREGISTER")

These commits are already in the Artful kernel.

The test kernels can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1729637/

Can you test these kernels and see if they resolve this bug?

Re: [Bug 1729618] Re: usb 4-1: string descriptor 0 read error: -22

2017-11-03 Thread Ivan Chernyshev
I do not know English very well, I communicate through an interpreter
Google. So I always had this problem before. I just ignore it, because
it looks like it's not visible to Linux. You can see only by command
dmesg, but when you install other distributions it appears when you
download grub. Now I'm updated. Problem still exists.

[Bug 1728012] Re: Many 3rd party scanner drivers are broken by a sane change

2017-11-03 Thread Mariusz Dykierek
For Xerox Workcentre 3225 I have mentioned in this and the original sane bug
the solution is:
1. Link the files in /usr/lib/sane to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane,
2. Add the user that needs to use the scanner to the "lp" group.
Otherwise the "Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x00 0x00" issue persists.

Apparently this happens when /tmp does not have exec. Remounting /tmp
with exec provides a workaround.

[Bug 1729878] Re: stress-ng triggering call-traces on s390x z/VM instances

2017-11-03 Thread Colin Ian King
This seems like stress-ng was eating a load of pages and snapd just got
victimized because it was expanding it's memory when there were no free
pages. Oom killer can seem arbitrary like this, I expect there is a
good reason for it.

I "think" it happened with 4.10 as well, but I'm not positive, I ran
some tests before realizing I was still on 17.04 and upgrading the VM
to 17.10.

Just a heads up, no, I cant:

Build for s390x failed (see BUILD.LOG.s390x):
  linux-headers-4.14.0-041400rc7_4.14.0-041400rc7.201710292231_all.deb
  *_s390x.deb

Is there a better place (internal perhaps) to get mainline builds?

I agree with you but I think you misunderstand a little.

AWALT, which I assume you're referring to, says that all women *have
the capacity to* do shitty things. This might seem obvious to you,
but I and many people I know were raised to believe that the sun
shines out of a woman's every orifice.

For me at least, it **was** necessary to be told repeatedly that
"women aren't flat-out better than men, and in many ways men have an
edge".

Well I'm seventeen right now, and I began drawing in eighth grade so
right around three-ish years. Though almost all of my time goes into
it. In my tenth grade year I skipped over a month of school for art. As
a separate source of income I started selling art by commission as
well. I've incorporated it into every facet of my life so that I
could always be growing. Haha Don't give up on it, you'll always get
better when you work at it!

[Bug 1729925] [NEW] Update to upstream 2.3.1

2017-11-03 Thread greenguy1090
Public bug reported:

I noticed today after installing on xenial that the current xenial build
is behind upstream. It currently is broken when submitting certificate
requests, it crashes.

I built and installed 2.3.1 manually from upstream. The only issue is
the libtqsllib.so was created in a directory
/usr/local/lib$(LIB_SUFFIX)/ rather than /usr/local/lib even though
$LIB_SUFFIX was unset. I had to manually mv the lib to /usr/local/lib.
After this, though 2.3.1 is working great on xenial. I looked through
the CMake files but couldn't find where to address the above issue with
the destination path of the library file myself.

It would be nice to A) Sync xenial to the current 2.3 builds available
in artful and B) Update all to upstream 2.3.1

I'm happy to help but have no experience as a Ubuntu package maintainer
so would appreciate pointers to the relevant documentation. I have other
package management experience in AUR and macports.
