[Bug 1733878] Re: package google-compute-engine-oslogin 20170718-0ubuntu1~16.04.0 failed to install/upgrade: there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up

2017-11-28 Thread Balint Reczey
The failure is caused by old version's prerm failing because it expected
openssh-server to be installed.
Please install openssh-server to let prerm succeed and allow upgrades whithout
dpkg stopping on prerm error.
I added the proper fix to the packaging repository recovering even when
openssh-server is not installed.

I see this issue too. It is easy to get with a 4.4 kernel if you have an
SSD hooked up to the Windows host and then you connect the SSD to the
Hyper-V VM via the SCSI controller in passthrough mode. Error messages

Public bug reported:

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 14R 3560. My HD has dual boot with a
Linux Mint partition. It has also a Windows partition, but I can't
configure UEFI... But it is another problem. The fact is that I see a
error message every time I login Ubuntu or update/install programs. I
suspect this problem was caused by a Linux Mint update. Maybe a Grub
update. I am not sure. Any sugestions? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1733127] Re: Session crashes when monitor is disconnected

2017-11-28 Thread Dave Knight
This bug is causing me major issues as it makes it impossible to use
Ubuntu 17.10 on a secondary system via a KVM. Every time I switch to my
main PC on my KVM, my Ubuntu session is terminated and all apps are
closed - including VirtualBox VMs which I have running. Needs either a
quick fix, or I shall be forced to abandon 17.10 as it's currently
unusable for me.

Interesting. Does this also reproduce with the linux-azure kernel, which
is based on 4.11? (this should also work for on premises use, but you
may have to install the "extra" package if you are using PCI
passthrough).

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1632027 ***

I'm marking this a duplicate of bug 1632027, the bug for Ubuntu 16.10+.
It is highly unlikely that we would make a UI change this late for 16.04
LTS without fixing the current development release first anyway.

[Bug 1734946] [NEW] iscsitarget-dkms fails to build for old kernels when the autoinstaller is called

2017-11-28 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Public bug reported:

iscsitarget-dkms was fixed to build with kernels which have a new
sock_recvmsg (see bug #1701697). It uses a pre-build script which uses
$kernelver to look for the sock_recvmsg signature. However, dkms does
not always export $kernelver. If it's called from the autoinstaller
(when installing a new kernel, for example, during its postinst), it
won't be exported.
