wanted to put this on the radar as soon as possible.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

[Bug 1767223] Re: multilib selects wrong start files

2018-06-21 Thread Ed
Yes, I think aside from building your own libc (and I'm not even certain
that would fix it) the only alternative at present is to use a different
toolchain or build your own. The binary toolchains from ARM
(https://developer.arm.com/open-source/gnu-toolchain/gnu-rm/downloads)
do however work fine.

[Bug 1778141] Re: chrony will by default step the clock instead of drifting it

2018-06-21 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi Pedro,
worth a discussion for sure, but this was chosen as the default because it is
also the same in Debian and more important in the upstream project itself.

See example configs:
$ grep makestep examples/chrony.conf.example*
examples/chrony.conf.example1:makestep 1.0 3
examples/chrony.conf.example2:makestep 1.0 3
examples/chrony.conf.example3:! makestep 1.0 3

They all have makestep (well the latter is explaining how to comment out
things, but anyway).

I understand your argument, but vice versa there always is the crowd of
"this never gets into sync, so at least on start please step it as so
many local clocks are really bad".

I'll subscribe Paul who is much more of an NTP expert than I am.
But actually I'd ask you to start the discussion on the chrony mailing list.
=> https://chrony.tuxfamily.org/lists.html

There more NTP-focused and experienced people will be around.
If it really should be disabled by default then I'd want to see it
discussed/decided there and the defaults in the examples changed.

Marking incomplete until further discussion happened with Paul and Upstream.
Please report back with e.g. a link to the upstream discussion.

[Bug 1767445] Re: Uninstalled snaps show most recent channel version, not version to be installed by default

2018-06-21 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
SRU verification for Xenial:
I have reproduced the problem with gnome-software 3.20.5-0ubuntu0.16.04.10 in
xenial-updates and have verified that the version of gnome-software
3.20.5-0ubuntu0.16.04.11 in -proposed fixes the issue.

Marking as verification-done

** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-xenial
** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-xenial

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
GNOME Software can show incorrect version of snap that will be installed on
details page.

  [Test Case]
- 1. Open GNOME Software. Ensure blender snap is not installed.
- 2. Select blender snap (tried 28-04-2018, may change if store versions are
changed)
+ 1. Open GNOME Software. Ensure blender or spotify snap is not installed.
+ 2. Select blender or spotify snap (tried 28-04-2018, may change if store
versions are changed)

  Expected result:
Version label shows version to be installed (stable channel by default)

  Observed result:
Version label shows most recently uploaded version, i.e. from the edge
channel. This is not the version that will be installed when clicking install.

  [Regression Potential]
The logic around choosing which version value to show was changed. Could
create other bugs with this data.

  Orignial text:

Ubuntu Software, when showing metadata about a snap package, is most of
the time, likely to get information which is misleading, since it shows
info from the *most recently* uploaded snap, regardless of which channel
  the snap was uploaded to.

An example of this is to search for blender, and see that the version
shows the edge channel - 2.80-4de142e0b7b and not the stable channel -
  2.79.

After actually installing the application, the correct metadata is
  shown.

  See https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/unexpected-revision-information-
  exposed-in-some-situations/5163 for more details.

[Bug 1770173] Re: 18.04 install stuck on grub install

2018-06-21 Thread Mike Tallroth
Yes, its reproducible.

Dell PowerEdge T110 (circa ~2009). I can give more details if it would
be helpful.

I found a /bin/os-prober (no /usr/bin/os-prober), and added the x
option. Resulting syslog is the same as before, no additional
information. Is there another file I should be looking in?

Re: [Bug 1777620] Re: failure during install. not this package is broken

2018-06-21 Thread marvin
Ok. Its dificult to say. I have installed Ubuntu 18 twice now (for
different reasons and different versions) and both times the installer
crashed. The shim-signed package and grub gave me problems. I had to boot
into 16 again and run the update-grub and again boot into 18. Then after
removing and installing shim-signed and grub-efi packages with apt-get it
runs. I thought I was booting in UEFI mode... but I guess not...

I guess you can close the bug since I lack the debugging information,
unless you have an idea how to check this?

Best Regards
Marvin Rueppel

[Bug 1777994] [NEW] the header xcb/xinput.h is missing

2018-06-21 Thread Shawn Rutledge
Public bug reported:

I suspect this means there should be another package, libxcb-xinput-dev
perhaps?

I already did sudo apt install "libxcb*dev" to get all related dev
packages, but none of them provide xcb/xinput.h.

The result is that when building Qt from source, it's necessary to use a
copy of this file which Qt provides
(qtbase/src/3rdparty/xcb/include/xcb/xinput.h), because it's missing
from the system. So if you don't give the option -qt-xcb to configure,
then Qt will be built without multi-touch support.
