[Bug 763457] Re: please provide opencl-icd virtual package

2013-08-10 Thread Graham Inggs
Yes, I see the problem.

To fix this for AMD, we would first need to get fglrx-installer fixed in Saucy,
then back port that for Precise.
For Intel I think we would need to backport the beignet package, and it would
be good if ocl-icd could be backported as well.

Ask someone in #ubuntu-bugs on IRC if they can create the Precise tasks
for these packages.

[Bug 1210932] [NEW] Sync inventor 2.1.5-10-17 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-08-11 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Please sync inventor 2.1.5-10-17 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Merge with Debian; remaining changes:
- Add alternative recommendation on pdf-viewer.
- Stop building componentTest, since it links against GLw.
- Hack libInventorWidget.a to not build MyColorEditor, as it also uses GLw
  now.

Debian version now has an alternative recommendation on pdf-viewer.
Since we have glw in Saucy, we can link against GLw again (LP: #1208170).

Changelog entries since current saucy version 2.1.5-10-16ubuntu1:

inventor (2.1.5-10-17) unstable; urgency=low

  * control: Change from lesstif2 to motif. Closes: #714864.
  * Bump SOVERSION to 1.0.0.

  * patches/add-required-libs.patch: Link with -lXm before -lXt.
Closes: #718691.

  * patches/buildsystem.patch: Use xdg-open as PDF viewer.
Closes: #718784.

[Bug 1174205] Re: Using pyopencl doesn't work and spits our ImportError

2013-08-29 Thread Graham Inggs
I think the problem here is that we were allowing ocl-icd-libopencl1 and the
Nvidia libopencl1 to be installed together.
There should only be one libopencl1 (OpenCL management library) installed on
the system, but there can be more than one opencl-icd (Installable Client
Driver).

This has been fixed to a certain extent in the current Nvidia drivers in
Saucy as the Nvidia drivers now provides and conflicts on libopencl1.
However, since the Nvidia driver includes libopencl1 and opencl-icd in
one package, ocl-ic-libopencl, which pyopencl is built against, is not
installable.

We need to separate libopencl1 out of the Nvidia (and AMD) drivers, or
remove them completely.

[Bug 1196228] [NEW] Sync lensfun 0.2.7-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-06-30 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Please sync lensfun 0.2.7-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * New upstream release (LP: #1084730)
  * Switch to new cmake based buildsystem as the old one doesn't create
a properly versioned library anymore and is deprecated
- Add build-dep on cmake
- Drop buil-dep on autotools-dev
  * Port package from cdbs to dh7 style rules
- Build-Depend on debhelper = 7.0.50~
- Drop build-dep on cdbs
- rewrite rules to use dh instead of cdbs
into the right path again
  * Add ubuntu_build_docs.diff so the documentation is built and installed
  * Update liblensfun-doc.install as the documentation is now installed into
the right location right away
  * Switch to source format 3.0 (quilt) for quilt support
  * New upstream release (LP: #1084730)
  * Switch to new cmake based buildsystem as the old one doesn't create
a properly versioned library anymore and is deprecated

lensfun 0.2.7-0ubuntu1 was merged into Debian as lensfun 0.2.7-1
as can be seen in the Debian changelog below.

[Bug 1127357] Re: uraw Segmentation fault

2013-06-30 Thread Graham Inggs
Comment at above URL posted by da_seeb on 2013-May-05 13:22:

BTW: It works with the current Ubuntu 13.04 which is shipped with an up-
to-date lensfun 0.2.7. So it seems to be related to ufraw version 0.18
or a certain build config in some distributions.

Marking 'fix released' for ufraw and 'invalid' for lensfun.

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-07-06 Thread Graham Inggs
This is Rodney's Quantal patch from comment #41 with the following changes:
The gnome-keyring package depends on libp11-kit-gnome-keyring instead of
recommends.
The libp11-kit-gnome-keyring package now breaks and replaces gnome-keying (
${binary:Version}).

I believe this needs to be fixed in Quantal before it can be fixed in
Precise so that the upgrade path is not broken.

- When you take a screenshot with the Print Screen key, you get a dialog
- asking you to name the file.
+ [SRU] The debdiff attached to comment #7 backports the upstream fix for
+ Raring.
+
+ [IMPACT] After taking a screenshot users should immediately be able to
+ type in a filename, instead they need to use the mouse to give focus to
+ the filename field which then loses the highlight of the suggested
+ filename.
+
+ [Test Case] Take a screenshot by pressing PrintScreen or Alt-PrintScreen
+ then attempt to enter a filename.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Low, the single-line-fix has been in upstream for 3 months already.
+
+
+ When you take a screenshot with the Print Screen key, you get a dialog asking
you to name the file.

It *looks* like the focus is on the name of the file (selected in orange
like the File Rename dialog in Nautilus), but you can't type - I suspect
focus is really on the Save button.

Nor can you tab to the filename field, so you have to use your mouse to
select what is already visually selected in order to type a name.

Correct behaviour would be to let the user directly type to this dialog
  box without any further action.

[Bug 1201078] [NEW] Sync pyopencl 2013.1~git20130613-1 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (contrib)

2013-07-14 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Please sync pyopencl 2013.1~git20130613-1 (multiverse) from Debian
unstable (contrib)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * No change rebuild for Boost 1.53 transition.
  * Installing fglrx breaks 3D acceleration on sandy-bridge (my work
machine). Therefore I am dropping fglrx | nvidia-current from
Depends fields. If you have opencl capable hardware and properly
setup, then you can enjoy this package.
  * Rebuild to drop python3.2 extension.
  * Remove depends on opencl-icd, keep/add suggests
fglrx | nvidia-current to make the python modules
installable.
  * Rebuild against python3.3.
  * Skip sphinx documentation in binary-arch build. Fixes FTBFS.

nvidia-graphics-drivers now provide libopencl1 virtual package (LP: #1129409).
sphinx documentation FTBFS fixed in Debian #711926.

Changelog entries since current saucy version 2012.1-1ubuntu5:

pyopencl (2013.1~git20130613-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Add *-dbg packages.
  * Remove *-headers package; upstream now ships headers in python directory.
  * Upstream switched to setuptools, update patches to deal with it.
  * Do not call dh_sphinxdoc for architecture dependent builds, build
documentation in separate step in debian/rules (Closes: #711926)
  * Add README.source describing get-orig-source in debian/rules.
  * Disable package optimisation option as it might clash with hardening
compile options.
  * Include tests (all files in test/) in documentation package.
  * Fix VCS-* fields to contain canonical URIs.
  * Update Standards-Version to 3.9.4; no changes necessary.

** Description changed:

The nvidia-cuda-toolkit package needs to depend on a minimum version of the
CUDA library included in nvidia-graphics-drivers.
The current Debian version of nvidia-cuda-toolkit (5.0.35-4) does this on
Debian systems by checking the version of libcuda1 and on Ubuntu systems by
checking the version of nvidia-current, nvidia-curent-updates,
nvidia-experimental-304 or nvidia-experimental-310.

It would greatly simplify maintenance of packages building against
libcuda.so.1 and libOpenCL.so.1 if the nvidia-graphics drivers could
provide virtual packages that reflect the API level, for example,
  libcuda-5.0-1 and libopencl-1.2-1.

- Packages could then build-depend on these virtual packages and use
- shlibs.local to override the dependencies on libcuda.so.1 and
- libOpenCL.so.1 with libcuda-5.0-1 and libopencl-1.2-1 respectively,
- allowing packages to be installed with any compatible version of the
- nvidia-graphics-drivers, not only the version they were built against.
+ It was decided that the nvidia drivers packages will provide libcuda-5.0-1
and libopencl1 virtual packages.
+ Additionally, nvidia-*.shlibs would contain:
+ libOpenCL 1 libopencl1
+ libcuda1 libcuda-5.0-1
+ libGL 1 libgl1

[Bug 1200752] Re: shouldn't save without file extension

2013-07-15 Thread Graham Inggs
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1169904 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169904

Although it does not prevent one from saving a file without an
extension, LP: #1169904 should alleviate the problem by allowing one to
type the filename without losing the extension.

Marking as a duplicate. Feel free to unmark as a duplicate if you feel
this does not apply.

[Bug 1201949] [NEW] Sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 5.0.35-6 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (non-free)

2013-07-16 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Please sync nvidia-cuda-toolkit 5.0.35-6 (multiverse) from Debian
unstable (non-free)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Ubuntu: Build-depend/Depend on nvidia-304*, nvidia-310* and
nvidia-313*. (LP: #1162945)

Changes for Saucy have been made in the Debian packaging.

Changelog entries since current saucy version 5.0.35-4ubuntu1:

nvidia-cuda-toolkit (5.0.35-6) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Graham Inggs ]
  * Dependency updates for Ubuntu Saucy: nvidia-* now provides libcuda-5.0-1
and libopencl1 virtual packages. Use these instead of enumerating all
packaged driver versions. (Closes: #710820)

  [ Andreas Beckmann ]
  * nvidia-cuda-dev: Add Breaks against too old libcuda1 versions.
  * Update lintian overrides.

pycuda (2013.1~git20130616-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Add Python 3 package.
  * Add *-dbg packages.
  * Remove *-headers package; upstream now ships headers in python directory.

  * Do not call dh_sphinxdoc for architecture dependent builds, build
documentation in separate step in debian/rules.
  * Fix CUDA library build-dependencies, remove old libcuda1-dev.
  * Add README.source describing get-orig-source in debian/rules.
  * Disable package optimisation option as it might clash with hardening
compile options.
  * Include tests (all files in test/) in documentation package.
  * Fix VCS-* fields to contain canonical URIs.

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-06-24 Thread Graham Inggs
I also had a go at this today. :)

I built a gnome-keyring package for Precise in my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ginggs/+archive/sru

It is adam-stokes' last attempt plus the following changes:
- Change gnome-keyring's Recommends on libp11-kit-gnome-keyring
  to Depends.
- Change libp11-kit-gnome-keyring's Breaks and Replaces on
  gnome-keyring to ( ${binary:Version}).

@eraserix: I agree that installing libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 is
correct for the test case, not gnome-keyring:i386 as it contains the
executables and is not co-installable.

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-06-24 Thread Graham Inggs
@eraserix: as for how is the new libp11-kit-gnome-keyring supposed to find it's
way
to the affected users?

Both wine and cups got updates in Raring to Recommends and Depends the
new libp11-kit-gnome-keyring respectively:

wine1.4 (1.4.1-0ubuntu5) raring; urgency=low

  * Add new libp11-kit-gnome-keyring package to recommends
- Should fix a few apps (LP: #859600)

 -- Scott Ritchie scottritc...@ubuntu.com Tue, 12 Feb 2013 17:12:01
-0800

cups (1.6.2-1ubuntu2) raring; urgency=low

  * debian/control: Added libp11-kit-gnome-keyring to the dependencies of
the cups-binary package (LP: #1157904).

 -- Till Kamppeter till.kamppe...@gmail.com Wed, 20 Mar 2013 19:58:01
+0100

I guess these will need to be SRU'd as well.

I'm still inclined to have gnome-keyring Depends on libp11-kit-gnome-
keyring, at least for these SRUs.

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-06-25 Thread Graham Inggs
For the gnome-keyring package to be considered multi-arch in Precise, surely
libgck and libgcr need to be multi-arch as well?
Then we can close LP: #998715 for Precise in this SRU.

My other concern is what will happen when someone picks up
libp11-kit-gnome-keyring in Precise and then upgrades to Quantal?
Quantal's gnome-keyring will overwrite libp11-kit-gnome-keyring because its
Breaks and Replaces are on a lower version of gnome-keyring. If this gets
SRU'd for Precise, surely it must get SRU'd for Quantal as well?

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-06-25 Thread Graham Inggs
I've built another gnome-keyring package for Precise in my PPA that I
hope fixes all three issues (multi-arch gnome-keyring, multi-arch gcr
and split libp11-kit-gnome-keyring).

The test case (on an x86_64 system) would be something like:

$ wine notepad
You should see the error message:
p11-kit: couldn't load module:
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so:
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

$ sudo apt-get install libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386
$ wine notepad
The p11kit error no longer appears.

$ sudo apt-get install libgcr-3-1:i386
The following packages are installed: libgck-1-0:i386 libgcr-3-1:i386 and
libgcr-3-common

I can attach a debdiff if needed.

[Bug 1009436] Re: package-data-downloader hangs forever when attempting to download through cntlm proxy

2012-08-07 Thread Graham Inggs
** Description changed:

[SRU] The debdiff attached to comment #21 backports
  cntlm-0.92.3-1ubuntu1 from Quantal to Precise.

It fixes the following bugs in Precise:
  - package-data-downloader hangs forever when attempting to download through
cntlm proxy (LP: #1009436)
  - Can not play radio streams any more (LP: #659809)
  - error when downloading files 2GB (LP: #1031670)
  - cntlm does not work at reboot (LP: #825593)
  - cntlm gpg error The following signatures were invalid: NODATA 2 (LP:
#257210)

  [IMPACT]
When behind a corporate proxy requiring NTLM authentication, users are unable
to:
  - install packages which download external files, e.g. flashplugin-installer
and ttf-mscorefonts-installer (worked in Lucid)
  - play internet radio streams (worked in Lucid)
  - download files larger than 2GB in size
  - download and install GPG keys through apt-get and apt-add-repository

  [Test Cases]
- - sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer
- - Point your browser at: http://www.interwebsradio.com/ or
- - Open the following network URL with VLC:
http://interwebsradio.com/stream.mp3
- - wget http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/dvd/current/quantal-dvd-amd64.iso
- - sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ginggs/ppa
+ Cntlm should be correctly configured and network proxy applied system wide as
127.0.0.1 port 3128 for HTTP, HTTPS and FTP, but not Socks.
+
+ - package-data-downloader hangs forever when attempting to download through
cntlm proxy (LP: #1009436)
+ Run 'sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer'
+ 0.91 behaviour: flashplugin-installer downloads, installs, displays
'flashplugin-installer: downloading
http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.236.orig.tar.gz'
 and then stops responding.
+ 0.92 behaviour: flashplugin-installer downloads, installs and then downloads
and installs the actual Flash plugin.
+
+ - Can not play radio streams any more (LP: #659809)
+ Open Rhythmbox and add http://shouthostdirect12.streams.bassdrive.com:8200/
as a New Internet Radio Station. Highlight the newly added station and click
Play.
+ 0.91 behaviour: no music is heard and a red No Entry icon appears next to the
station.
+ 0.92 behaviour: music starts playing.
+
+ - error when downloading files 2GB (LP: #1031670)
+ Run 'wget
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/dvd/current/quantal-dvd-amd64.iso'
+ 0.91 behaviour: the message 'Connection closed at byte 0. Retrying' appears
repeatedly.
+ 0.92 behaviour: the download proceeds normally.
+
+ - cntlm does not work at reboot (LP: #825593)
+ Restart the computer with no network cable attached, open Firefox and enter a
URL.
+ 0.91 behaviour: the message 'The proxy server is refusing connections'
appears.
+ 0.92 behaviour: the message '502 connection timed out. cntlm proxy failed to
complete the request' appears.
+
+ - cntlm gpg error The following signatures were invalid: NODATA 2 (LP:
#257210)
+ Run 'sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ginggs/ppa', press Enter to continue when
promtped.
+ 0.91 behaviour: the message 'gpg: requesting key 08CC41D2 from hkp server
keyserver.ubuntu.com' appears and then stops responding.
+ 0.92 behaviour: the key is downloaded and installed normally.

  [Regression Potential]
- Minimal: cntlm has no dependants and no dependencies besides libc6
+ Minimal: cntlm has no dependants and no dependencies besides libc6.

I am proposing a backport instead of cherry-picking individual patches for
Precise because of the difficulties I experienced in trying to cherry-pick
r306. I found that the current commits relied on other changes that were not
present in the two-year old version 0.91 in Precise. For example, cntlm with
r306 broke in subtle ways (certain pages were not rendered correctly) when r281
was not included.
In addition, I found unrelated changes in the commits, for example, more
detailed debug logging and dummy checks introduces to suppress compiler
warnings, which were difficult to extract.
Lastly, while running the 0.91 version with debugging information on, cntlm
would segfault every couple of days while under heavy load (several
workstations sharing one cntlm gateway), whereas this did not occur in the 0.92
version from Quantal.

In short, I believe backporting the Quantal version will give us a more
stable base, without the increased regression potential of cherry-
picking multiple patches onto a two-year old version.

---

I previously reported this in #983559, but it seems that it is a
  completely unrelated issue.

  1) Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
  2) 0.119ubuntu8.4
  3) I expected to be able to install packages which need to download external
files (e.g. flashplugin-installer, ttf-mscorefonts-installer)
  4) package-data-downloader is unable to download these files through my cntlm
proxy

At university, I can only access the outside world through an NTLM
