Both these things should be fixed now with the new upload to Debian
(which has already sync'd in here; in the proposed pocket):

 python-aws-requests-auth (0.4.3-2) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Team upload.
   * Run upstream tests during build time.
 - and thus add BD on python3-{mock,botocore}.

Hello,

Thanks for filing a bug.

> Well, it's not the first time that mysql fails during upgrades...

I am really sorry to see that. Though from the logs, I see:
[ERROR] [MY-67] [Server] unknown variable 'query_cache_limit=1M'.

Query cache support was removed in 8.0 (ref
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/mysql-nutshell.html and
https://mysqlserverteam.com/mysql-8-0-retiring-support-for-the-query-
cache/).

Since these two options were in the 5.7 default config we do try to
automatically handle it on upgrades, but the default config file
location is /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf, so it only checks that
location (/etc/mysql/my.cnf is also used by MariaDB, so by default it
just includes the directory for the currently installed variant).

The fix for this should simply be to comment out the two lines with
query_cache, but if you receive any similar errors after doing that you
can check the mysql-nutshell page linked above to see if there's been
any change for it.

Hello,

Thanks for filing this bug. However, from your logs:
[ERROR] [MY-012574] [InnoDB] Unable to lock ./ibdata1 error: 11

This looks like a duplicate of LP: #1916247 (but hits in another way). Further,
this is actually a local configuration issue rather than a bug and here's the
known workaround:
https://serverfault.com/questions/477448/mysql-keeps-crashing-innodb-unable-to-lock-ibdata1-error-11

Let me know if you this doesn't work for you.

That said, I'm marking this as "Incomplete" since this doesn't look like
a bug but if you think otherwise, please set it back to "New" and let us
know why?

While at it, could you also help us with a reproducer of this issue? So
that we can reproduce and help fix this. Thank you!

Hello,

Thanks for filing the bug. Even though you're missing the log files, et al, I
see in your report:
apt_pkg.Error:E:The package mysql-server-8.0 needs to be reinstalled.but ı
can't find an archive for it

This looks like some local issue and the known workarounds are here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/88371/apt-synaptic-needs-to-reinstall-package-but-cant-find-the-archive-for-it
 and
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5034/the-package-mysql-server-5-7-needs-to-be-reinstalled-but-i-cant-find-an-archiv

My best guess that it should fix the broken apt and things should then
go fine. Since this isn't a bug in the package, I am marking this as
"Invalid" but should you feel otherwise, set the status back to "New"
with the reasoning and we can take a look at it again. Thank you!

[Bug 1152187] Re: [MIR] systemd

2021-05-20 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello,

Revisiting this MIR since we (now) want to have systemd-container (from
src:systemd) from Bionic/universe in Bionic/main.

This package is to be included in the Google cloud images the public
cloud team builds, going back to Bionic. As cloud images are to ship
only packages from main, this request is to see that happen.

src:systemd is in main in Bionic but bin:systemd-container isn't. Adding
a task for Bionic for the same. Please let me know if there's anything
else needed? TIA!

2021-05-21 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello Kir,

Thanks for taking out time to file this bug and help make Ubuntu server
better.

I can very easily reproduce the problem and indeed this is weird. This
bug is present since Bionic, at the very least. I'm marking this as
"Confirmed" and tagging "server-next" for someone from our team to work
on this. Subsequently, I am also marking this as of "low" importance.

Thanks!

[Bug 1898593] Re: Fix sphinx doc building

2021-05-21 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello,

Thanks, Athos. I've removed G/H tasks atm and Impish is marked as "Fix
Released", which appropriately represents the current situation.

Yeah, I agree that it might not be worth SRU'ing and at least, adding to
the already-long team backlog. As for lintian errors, I think it's worth
forwarding the bug to Debian instead since this is a sync now.

In case you feel differently, please let me know. Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

I tried to reproduce this but couldn't, further:
> InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-12-29 (141 days ago)
> InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64
> (20170215.2)

This makes me wonder if it's actually a local issue?

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'.

However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".

For local configuration issues, you can find assistance here:

[Bug 1929786] Re: Postfix Local only configuration adds 2 dots on hostname , blocking package upgrades

2021-05-28 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hi Nikola,

Thanks for filing the bug and help make Ubuntu server better.

I tried to reproduce the bug as you mentioned but wasn't able to. In a
Groovy (20.10) VM, I install postfix, configured it as you mentioned,
did upgrade, and finally upgrade to Hirsute (21.04) but both the upgrade
went fix. I used hostname=xdesk and whilst I can confirm that it did add
two dots but as I mentioned, the upgrade went OK.

$ grep myhostname /etc/postfix/main.cf
[...]
myhostname = xdesk..
[...]

Although your log shows that this is what caused the problem, I'd like
to ask if you can help me layout a reproducer (that is, steps to
reproduce this bug) so that we can help fix this?

Also, since we are in sync with the version of postfix in Debian (that
is, 3.5.6-1)[1], can you please forward this bug report to Debian? Scott
is an active maintainer and once this is fixed there, the fix will land
here in Impish (21.10) and we can further backport (SRU) this fix to
older releases, depending upon the patch and its details, et al. Thanks!

[Bug 1930207] [NEW] [MIR] prips package

2021-05-31 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Public bug reported:

[Availability]
==
prips was introduced in Precise as a sync from Debian and carries no delta. It
only depends on the libc6 package, which is in main already. The package builds
on all the architectures; is Arch:any.

[Rationale]
===
This package is to be included in Google cloud images the public cloud team
builds going back to Bionic. As cloud images are to ship only packages from
main this request is to see that happen.

[Security]
==
There doesn't seem to be the need for looping in the Security team. The package
doesn't install services / daemons (/etc/init.d/*, /etc/init/*,
/lib/systemd/system/*). Just ships the "prips" binary, its docs, and a man
page. Furthermore, there haven't been any CVEs for this package in the past.
Since this package just simply prints the IP addresses in a given range, it
wouldn't require the Security team. Either way, there are only 3 files with C
code which is simple enough to read and only ~500 LOC.

[Quality assurance]
===
There are currently 0 open bug reports (excluding this one) about the package
in Ubuntu and has 1 open bug in Debian, but that's a wishlist one and is more
of a request for upstream than a bug in the package in Debian.

[Dependencies]
==
libc6, which is in main already.

[Standards compliance]
==
$ lintian --pedantic prips_1.1.1-3.dsc

(No W's or E's; from sbuild's log: "Lintian: pass")

[Maintenance]
=
Server team.

[Background information]

This package allows you to print all of the IP addresses in a given range.

[Bug 1929918] Re: package rabbitmq-server 3.8.2-0ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: podproces zainstalowany pakiet rabbitmq-server skrypt post-installation zwrócił kod błędu 1

2021-05-31 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I tried to reproduce the issue from a clean LXD container but wasn't
able to: rabbitmq-server installed just fine. If you want to try this
yourself you could do something on these lines:

  $ lxc launch ubuntu:focal rabbitmq-server-focal
  $ lxc exec rabbitmq-server-focal bash

Without steps to reproduce there's little we can do here to tell if this
is a bug or a local configuration issue. For this reason I'm marking
this bug as Incomplete for now.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here: https://ubuntu.com/support
/community-support

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to reproduce this in a fresh Bionic
container. I can even "import uaclient" and it all seems OK. I wonder if
it's due to a local issue or something. Also, interestingly, you say you
did a release upgrade to 20.04? But the package version shows Bionic. I
am not sure how's that? Did you set anything up manually, et al?

Can you reproduce this in a container or a VM as well? Let me know if
you do and please also post the steps to reproduce. Thanks!

2021-05-31 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello,

Thanks for taking out the time to file the bug and help make Ubuntu
server better.

This looks like a local configuration issue rather than a bug in the
package. Probably removing and reinstalling libapache2-mod-php7.4 should
fix the problem.

sudo apt purge libapache2-mod-php7.4 & sudo apt install sudo apt install
libapache2-mod-php.

Since this is a local config issue, I am marking this as invalid. But

[Bug 1929880] Re: php-twig 3.x in circular build dependency situation with symfony 5

2021-06-03 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
If only it were simple to build symfony once we landed php-twig, which I
did, some moments ago. :)

Anyhow, symfony has a little bit of mess because of .so involved, which can be
cleaned up easily but some tests behave oddly:
```
Error in bootstrap script: Error:
Failed opening required 'Cache/TagInterop/autoload.php'
(include_path='.:/usr/share/php')
KO src/Symfony/Bundle/DebugBundle
PHP Warning:  require_once(Cache/TagInterop/autoload.php): Failed to open
stream: No such file or directory in
/usr/share/php/Cache/IntegrationTests/autoload.php on line 4
```

This probably happens in Debian as well; me and William (~williamdes)are
investigating that on Debian and will try to have that fixed. Anyhow,
disabling tests for symfony as well for now. I've got closer to building
this. Mostly everything can be reverted once we have settled down the
cicular-dependency hell hole. :D

Thus, adding symfony to this bug as well. It further needs dependency
bumps which I'll take care of on top of this.

Except for the DEP3 thingy, it looks good! \o/

Hey, how about we use 0.4.0-2ubuntu0.21.04.1 as the version number?

impish (-release) has the same version atm; I now -3 is in -pocket but
still, always helpful to use 0.21.04.X, I believe.

[Bug 1929880] Re: php-twig 3.x in circular build dependency situation with symfony 5

2021-06-07 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Okay, we've cleared the way through so far, yay! \o/

Now, the interesting bit is that there are circular dependencies for
testing as well. php-doctrine-bundle's tests rely on the working symfony
& symfony's tests rely on working php-doctrine-bundle :)

But at the moment, php-doctrine-bundle needs a rebuild. Because
otherwise, it tries to pull in parts of symfony/cache v4.

So I'd like to disable the tests & do a rebuild & upload. This will help
enable symfony's tests and later on we work on enabling tests for php-
doctrine-bundle.

[Bug 1931257] [NEW] Please remove ruby-gitlab-pg-query from Impish (-proposed)

2021-06-08 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Public bug reported:

Hello,

This package, since it hasn't been published, has obviously no
reverse-{build-}dependencies. It was actually packaged in Debian because
src:gitlab needed it and we've been carrying it as a regular sync since
then. However, it has been FTFBS'ing since the start (from Hirsute
onward) and never migrated to -release because it accesses internet
during the build.

An RC bug has been reported in Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=981878.

Further as Praveen mentioned, src:gitlab no longer needs it as it has
now started to directly depend upon it's actual soruce, src:ruby-pg-
query. This bug has been fixed[1] in src:ruby-pg-query already and is
available in experimental[2].

Once the Debian archive opens again, it'll be uploaded to unstable &
will get it sync'd here as well.

Since ruby-gitlab-pg-query is no longer needed & will soon be removed
from Debian, too, I'd hereby like to request its removal from Impish
(-proposed) as well.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. TIA! \o/

Hello,

Impish (-propose) has 5.2.6+dfsg-1ubuntu7, which is hopefully what you
want. And also works with PHP 8.0. We're currently in midst of the
transition so that should happen soon. And that mean, it should soon
migrate to Impish (-release).

Please enable the -propose pocket in case you want to use that *now*.
But make sure you know what you're doing! :)

Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to
differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I am
marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would: provide a
more complete description of the problem, explain why you
believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system,
and then change the bug status back to "New".

Also, if possible, please let us know how we can reproduce this in a

[Bug 1747044] Re: kpartx 0.7.4-2ubuntu1 in bionic does not remove loop devices

2021-06-21 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello,

Upstream sanctioned an alternate patch (cf: https://github.com/opensvc
/multipath-tools/commit/95c4189b683c543ac291628df8143a93373de17b) which
tries to solve the same problem, as discussed on the upstream mailing
list (cf: thread here: https://listman.redhat.com/archives/dm-
devel/2018-February/msg00019.html).

I am inclined towards giving this a try? How do you feel about this? Is
this something we can adapt to with 0.8.6 (which is released upstream
but yet to be uploaded to the archive)?

Do note that this patch is already included in the version which is in
the archive. So what I am proposing is that should we rely on that and
remove the debian/patches/kpartx_more_loopback_fixes.patch instead?

Let me know what you think? TIA! \o/

[Bug 1933391] Re: FTBFS with PHP 8.0 on Impish

2021-06-24 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
I have few more additions to this bug. Whilst I am still struggling with
the after-effects of the first shot, I'd like to mention them here so as
to hopefully unblock others or at least give ideas that might help.

If you check the condition of the package, it's sort of broken. At least
the autopkgtest. Check the Debian tracker: all red (:/) and there's an
RC bug for that, too. This means that even if you get around to
"building" this, there will still be autopkgtest failure. I haven't yet
inspected what the problem is but I know that it's going to bite us here
as well. So just fixing the build isn't the only thing we're trying to
achieve here.

Furthermore, if you see, the package has been removed from testing
because it's not suitable for a stable release. Going along those lines,
I think I would personally prefer to ask the AA to remove this package
from the "release" pocket and just let it be there in the "proposed"
pocket until things are fixed in Debian or at least we have somebody
here who cares for this. And I am pretty sure that it's reasonable
enough to ask this.

Once this happens, the package would no longer be a problem for openldap
or anything else. In case it sees a fix then, awesome, else, oh well!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Personally, I don't think it's worthy of fixing this unless we *really*
care about it, which looks unlikely. Thoughts?

And the security policy document reference leads here:

Let me know if the versioning is still not clear.

[Bug 1933979] [NEW] [MIR] busybox package

2021-06-29 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Public bug reported:

[Availability]
==
src:busybox was introduced in Dapper (2006) and has been in main since then.
src:busybox & bin:busybox-static are in main, to be more precise. And this
request is to promote bin:busybox from src:busybox in main, too. It only
depends on the libc6 package, which is in main already. The package builds on
all the architectures; is Arch:any.

[Rationale]
===
This package is to be included in IBM cloud images, going back to Bionic. As
cloud images are to ship only packages from main this request is to see that
happen.

[Security]
==
The binary doesn't install services / daemons (/etc/init.d/*, /etc/init/*,
/lib/systemd/system/*). Just ships the "busybox" binary, its docs, and a man
page.

[Dependencies]
==
libc6, which is in main already.

[Maintenance]
=
Server team.

[Background information]

Tiny utilities for small and embedded systems.

[Bug 1934381] Re: package postfix 3.5.6-1 failed to install/upgrade: installed postfix package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 75

2021-07-05 Thread Utkarsh Gupta
Hello,

Thanks for filing the bug and helping in making Ubuntu Server better!

>From your logs, I see:
> newaliases: fatal: file /etc/postfix/main.cf: parameter
> myhostname: bad parameter value: saturn..

You need to set a valid hostname. This isn't really a package bug (this
behavior is
by design), but a local configuration issue, I believe.

However, I tried to reproduce the bug as you mentioned but wasn't able
to. In a Hirsute (21.04) VM, I installed postfix, configured it as you
mentioned, did upgrade, and finally upgrade to Impish (the devel
release) but both the upgrade went fix. I used hostname=xdesk and whilst
I can confirm that it did add two dots but as I mentioned, the upgrade
went OK.

$ grep myhostname /etc/postfix/main.cf
[...]
myhostname = xdesk..

Scott
is an active maintainer and once this is fixed there, the fix will land
here in Impish (the next release) and we can further backport (SRU) this
fix to older releases, depending upon the patch and its details, et al.
Thanks!

Thanks for getting back. I think "saturn" is an alright name and the
actual problem is LP: #1929786, where two dots are added and then the
hostname becomes invalid. So this indeed seems like a problem, but too
bad I couldn't reproduce this :/

Yes, please. In case you can do this, that'd certainly help. Let me know
if you hit the same bug again!

Oh no, I meant opening a bug for Debian. No problem, I did it for you :)
This is reported in Debian as https://bugs.debian.org/990752.
