I first want to thank everyone who has already tested and provided their
feedback. It is very much appreciated. There has however been some
recent developments with the current RC6 patch which originated this
call for testing. An adjustment has been made to that original patch:

http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2012-February/015319.html

We're hoping this fix resolves the remaining issues when RC6 is enabled
by default. A test kernel has already been built and posted to the RC6
bugs noted in the PowerManagementRC6 wiki [3].

For anyone else who was interested in testing, and wants to re-test, I
ask that you please hold off until we are able to upload this additional
fix. I hope to get a Beta Freeze exception for this and intend follow
up with the Release Team accordingly. I will respond to this email once
we have an official kernel in the archive ready for additional testing.

Thanks again,
Leann Ogasawara

Unity Greeter Badges for Derivatives

2012-02-23 Thread Michael Terry
Hello! The just-released Unity Greeter 0.2.4 now uses little badge
icons to represent sessions (like kde/xfce/unity, etc).

A badge is shown to indicate which session is default for a user and
each session's badge is shown when choosing a new default.

0.2.4 only ships kde, gnome, and unity badges right now. Other
derivatives can provide badges by doing the following:

1) Take /usr/share/unity-greeter/unknown_badge.png and use it as a
template (just a 22x22 white circle).
2) Add your logo as a transparent cutout of the white circle (see other
badges in that directory for examples)
3) Ship your logo as
/usr/share/unity-greeter/custom_SESSIONNAME_badge.png, where SESSIONNAME
is your X session name (e.g. 'xfce' for XFCE).

Unity Greeter will automatically look there, falling back to the generic
white circle icon if not found.

Thanks!

Re: beta milestoned bugs

BTW, the official definition of release blocker is that the bugs need
to be targetted to the release and priority >= high. Everything else
are targets of opportunity, and untargetted bugs (i. e. on floating
tasks, not on precise tasks) can be used for personal planning.

So the release team will only look at

  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+bugs?field.milestone%3Alist=44327
