This doesn't seem right, can you please reupload with the libreadline
that Debian used and a note that it should be sync'd next time unless
there's a reason to override Debian's libreadline choice?

We don't have that readline in our archive, i assume it's just a weird
 debian naming thing

rmadison libreadline-gplv2-dev
libreadline-gplv2-dev | 5.2-9ubuntu1 | oneiric | amd64, armel,
i386, powerpc
libreadline-gplv2-dev | 5.2-11 | precise | amd64, armel, i386,
powerpc

Please fix :)

I second Micah's request; please revert your change ASAP, as it results
in a licence violation by linking a GPLv2-only package against a GPLv3
version of readline.

+1 here. Provided that everyone on the list takes it in the right spirit :-)

Sorry, i don't know how i missed that one :S, ok, just reverted the
 change.

Thank you for your prompt attention on this, but I don't see the upload.
Could you please verify that it actually made it to the archive?

Once again Micah, seems as if this message would have best been kept
private between you and Nicolas. We all know you're a smart dude, no

 With love,
 Steve

This was a public upload that was sent to a mailing list monitored by
Ubuntu developers that resulted in a license violation. The reason I
sent it to the list was 2 fold. First, that others should be aware of
such things (i.e. possible license violations, although it was Colin who
actually spelled that out properly). Second, that I was sure that I
wasn't going to be the only one to raise an eyebrow about this. In
order to keep everyone on the same page, I moved the discussion to the
ubuntu-devel list. This has been done before. This is not about
pointing fingers, but about raising awareness and getting things fixed.
We all make mistakes. Sometimes, one person's error can be a learning
lesson for everyone. I certainly hope no one is looking down on Nicolas
for this, I certainly am not. In fact, it's because Nicolas did
something right, that this was able to be caught at all. He included
the changelogs from Debian properly in his upload which allowed the
merge to be contrasted with what was done in Debian.

Thanks,
Micah

Speaking (I hope) for the ubuntu-devel moderation team, Micah's original
message seemed entirely appropriate for this list. Calling people names
is not on, though.
