This trivial fix needs merging and uploading to natty-proposed. The fix
for bug 776439 was merged and uploaded to natty-proposed, but was broken
on install, causing this bug.

the queue? Shouldn't it be moved?

The function seems like it would be a nice add, but generally Ubuntu
would rather not carry this delta from upstream (plymouth). I think the
author may have given up on it. It would probably be nice if someone
helped the author upstream with it. His mail to they plymouth mailing list
got no responses.
