Hug Day - July 10, 2008
Hello Ubuntu Lovers! For our next Ubuntu Bug Day, on July 10th 2008, we will be focusing on Kernel audio bugs! There are currently 129 bugs reported against the kernel source packages packages, but are assigned to the Ubuntu Audio team. The Hug Day will focus on triaging and confirming the bugs on the list, as well as requesting the bug reporter to test to see if the bug still occurs on Intrepid Alpha 2, which is scheduled to be released on the same day. The list of targeted bugs can be found at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080710 Our goal is to deal with all of the bugs on that list. So on Thursday, 10 July 2008, in all timezones, we'll be meeting in #ubuntu-bugs on irc.freenode.net for another Ubuntu Hug Day. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay While you are welcome to apply to join the Ubuntu Bug Control team anytime, Hug Day is a great day to join! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl If you're interested in helping to make the next release of Ubuntu even better - please stop by. And feel free to ask bdmurray, pedro, ogasawara and the rest of the team for ways to help out. We hope to see you there and your name on the list of bug triagers! Hug Day - 24 June 2008
For the next hug day, on Tuesday, June 24th, we will be doing something quite different. We generally focus on moving bugs from the New status to Incomplete or Confirmed, but on the next hug day we'll work on helping move bugs from Fix Committed to Fix Released! We'll do this by verifying that packages in the hardy-proposed repository fix the bugs they were designed to and that the package still functions that way it should. The list of targeted bugs and tasks is posted at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080624 Our goal is to have at least two people test every bug in that list. So on 24 June 2008, in all timezones, we'll be meeting in #ubuntu-bugs on irc.freenode.net for a very special Ubuntu Hug Day. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay While you are welcome to apply to join the Ubuntu Bug Control team anytime, Hug Day is a great day to join! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl If you're interested in helping to make the Hardy Heron release of Ubuntu even better - please join us. Hug Day - 17 June 2008
The OpenOffice.org maintainer has been doing a heroic job of handling bug reports regarding OpenOffice but he can still use your help! Subsequently, the next hug day, on Tuesday, June 17th, will focus on OpenOffice. There are currently about 214 New bug reports regarding Open Office and we will be focusing on reducing that number in addition to look at some outstanding Incomplete and Confirmed bugs. We'll do this by following up with reporters, documenting test cases, confirming bug reports and tagging bugs based on their sub-component. The event will be held in #ubuntu-bugs on Freenode. The list of targeted bugs and tasks is posted at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080617 Our goal is to deal with all of the bugs on that list. So on 17 June 2008, in all timezones, we'll be meeting in #ubuntu-bugs on irc.freenode.net for another Ubuntu Hug Day. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay While you are welcome to apply to join the Ubuntu Bug Control team anytime, Hug Day is a great day to join! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl If you're interested in helping to make the next release of Ubuntu even better - please stop by. Return of the Hug Day - 03 June 2008
We've had a bit of a break in the Hug Days since the release of Hardy Heron, but now they are back! On Tuesday, June 3rd, the focus will be on those pesky bugs without a package. The number of them has grown to about 3600 but the rate of newly reported bugs without a package is slowing. We'll focus on assigning these bugs to the correct package and gathering more information from reporters. The event will be held in #ubuntu-bugs on Freenode. The list of targeted bugs and tasks is posted at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080603 Our goal is to deal with all of the bugs on that list. I've also added a new section to the list of bugs - bugs with jpeg attachments. Who knows what the picture is of but hopefully it'll help get the bug assigned to a package! Hug Day - 25 April 2008
Hi Everyone, Back on the 26th of October 2006 the Edgy Eft 6.10 release was announced. As with any non-LTS release, support is provided for a period of 18 months following the release. That 18 month period is fast approaching for Edgy. The goal of the April 25th Bug Day will be to migrate any existing 2.6.17 kernel bugs from Edgy to the current Hardy Heron 2.6.24 kernel. We want to make sure that as Edgy nears it's end of life that bugs do not get lost or forgotten as we make this transition. The event will be held in #ubuntu-bugs on Freenode. Our goal is to deal with all of the bugs listed at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080425 However, please refrain from working on the list of bugs until after the final Hardy Heron 8.04 release has been announced. Also, while you are welcome to apply to join the Ubuntu Bug Control team anytime, Hug Day is a great day to join! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl Feel free to ask bdmurray, ogasawara, pedro, and heno of the QA Team for ways to help out. Hug Day - 5 February 2008
It has been two months since we looked at the bugs without a package which by the way we did a great job of assigning to packages and triaging. However, the numbers are creeping back up so it's time to go get them! So join us on our next Hug Day on Wednesday, February 5th! We will be targeting bugs that do not have a package assigned to them. We can help easily help these bug reports through the triaging process by assigning to them a package. For help in determining what package to assign the bug to please take a look at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage Even better than just assigning a package would be gathering more information from the original reporter if it is necessary. A list of package and subsystem debugging procedures can be found at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures This event will be held in #ubuntu-bugs and the list of targeted bugs has been posted at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080205 So feel free to get started early!
