to get ddgr updated in Ubuntu with a fixed version you can try a
StableReleaseUpdate:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

while you wait for it to land, there is a snap package in the store
that has always the latest version.

First, it should be pointed out that this list is for discussions about
*development* of *Ubuntu*. Since you have Mint, it's really not
applicable.

It's also really not a list to report or discuss bugs in non-development
versions of Ubuntu. There are resources for this in Ubuntu, but they are
different in Mint:
https://linuxmint-troubleshooting-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/where.html

Finally, as it relates to Ubuntu, the issue is fixed in version 1.9:
https://github.com/jarun/ddgr/issues/115
That's available in Ubuntu Groovy.

It looks like, at least, it affects the version in Focal and perhaps in
the version in Bionic since the problem is a change in DuckDuckGo's API.
That said, it may suggest a Stable Release Update since at first glance
it seems like a small patch.

DDGR

2021-01-15 Thread Ian Jeffrey
Hello

ddgr is returning "no results" for all searches.

Linux Mint 20.1 (Cinnamon). Python 3.8.5. ddgr version
1.7+git20190928.bc. Lynx version 2.9.

Are you able to offer any help? I have not been able to find anything
related on the internet.

Thank you.

Ian Jeffrey

Issue: pppd and IPv6 interface identifiers

2021-01-15 Thread Alexander Velkov
Hi,

I want to point out an issue with the latest pppd version in Ubuntu
20.04. There is also a patch attached in the issue which should disable
the 'ipv6cp-accept-local' option by default.

https://github.com/paulusmack/ppp/issues/243

Regards
Alex

Re: intel microcode issue with Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9980HK CPU @ 2.40GHz

2021-01-15 Thread Giacomo Catenazzi

Hello,

It is difficult to help.

I'm not sure if it is an error of the package. In that case, just remove
the package.

Maybe you can try to load the microcodes with a BIOS update (this is the
recommended method of Intel).

Or maybe you should contact Intel. It can be either a microcode problem,
or a CPU problem (the rate of defective CPU is not so low as people thing).

In any case: are you sure about the source of the microcode? [if I
remember correctly, the encryption of microcode were broken].

ciao
