The current package version in Ubuntu/Hardy (1.8b-1) seems to indicate
that no change was made compared to Debian.

And the 3 files you name are known as the source package in Debian.
(Yes, I also think this is a stupid naming convention.)

if I didn't know any better, I'd say this is your way of telling the 
user to bugger off...
