I can see that security fixes are in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS release already
since July 2016.
Please note that pidgin is in Universe and security updates to it rely
on community involvement.
You can use security tracker at
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/ to check for CVE
and their current status. Pidgin package is currently not affected by
any known CVEs in any supported Ubuntu releases.
