Dedicated energy brights in the wiki.
I feel this really very polite.
It's clear, easy and concrete words, only necessary information, well
organized ideas, same as Gnome design.

I have some suggests:
- Update «Getting involved» link in www.ubuntugnome.org by the Wiki URL.
- Link www.ubuntugnome.org at Wiki U.Gnome home page
- At "Contact us" wiki page, section "Website & Social Media Channels",
link more real social than corporate/proprietary (less Facebook&so and
more Wikipedia, RSS, Diaspora, etc.)

[Draft] Getting Involved Process

2015-10-28 Thread Ali/amjjawad
Hi everyone,

I've been working very hard for many hours today on:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved

What you 'see' now is a draft, not yet final.

Before, newcomers had hard time and even other users or new contributors
had some problems (confusion) with the process.

Today, I believe life became so much easier:

   1. Getting involved page became very VERY easy.
   2. Less sub-teams.
   3. Newcomers have a very welcoming new sub-team designed for their own
   comfort and expectations.

What is next?

   - Please check the pages and give me your feedback.
   - We need to update the old pages and make the entire process a lot more
easier than before with 'clear' description of each and every sub-team.
   - Please do join the NEW sub-team based on your interest.

Once all is done, I'll go ahead and write the official announcement for
Ubuntu GNOME Sub-Teams version 2.0 :)

I need some rest now. Working on these stuff draining so much energy. It's
not the hand-job that is draining your power/energy but the mental one.
Planning, designing, etc .. it's fun but not as easy as you may think it is
;)

Thank you!

Oh, welcome to XX Cycle ;)

Hi Charlie
I think it would be a great idea to have a base set of tutorials, that
introduce people to Ubuntu GNOME, gnome-shell what not. I would suggest
to keep this at a fairly small set of videos to start with, since I am a little
concerned about the maintenance burdeon on having a huge
collection of videos, everytime something changes (which is most cycles) they
would need to be largely remade.

Have you seen the gnome-getting-started-docs? they are short animated videos
that introduce the concepts of gnome-shell, we are planning to
include those in 15.10 on the iso's (but only in english, otherwise its too
much of a size hit)

Re: Getting Involved

2015-07-09 Thread Charlie Moss
Hi Alfredo & Keith,

I actually saw "video tutorials" on the list of required and suggested
roles.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved/Roles

I was happy to see it on the list as I've been planning to start a YouTube
channel with such tutorials. Written documentation is excellent, as it's
searchable, but nothing beats video for clarity.

An excellent example of video and written documentation is Divi themes.

http://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/divi/documentation/

In fact, Elegant themes is an excellent example on many levels of marketing.

It would be great to see a comprehensive library of video documentation,
and it is something I'm very enthusiastic about. (I was a Coach Tour Guide
for twenty years so I'm used to talking and being judged LOL).

This is just one area I am interested in. I'm open to other work such as
administration, organisation, marketing, etc.

Regards,

*Charlie*

2015-07-09 Thread Alfredo Hernández
Welcome aboard, Charlie!

I don't know what our "official" position about Official Tutorials is, but
I think it would be brilliant. If Tim and Ali (the "bosses" :P) think it
would be a good idea, then you can count on us (the Artwork Team) for any
related material you may need for the videos.

Cheers,
Alfredo.

Getting Involved

2015-07-09 Thread Charlie Moss
Hi there Ubuntu Gnome team,

I have completed the other steps, all that is left is for me to send an
email to the mailing list to introduce myself.

I am Charlie. I have wanted to *get involved *for many years, but until
now, I did not have the time. Also, as I am not a coder, I thought it would
not be possible.

I have been interested in Linux since I bought my first copy of 'off the
shelf' desktop Redhat from PC World (UK), more than 15 years ago. However,
it is only in the past few years that I have become passionate about Linux
and especially about Gnome.

My wiki page is wiki.ubuntu.com/charlie.uk. It is quite minimal and to the
point.

I am interested mainly in the areas of administration, organisation and
making video tutorials.

So what's next?

Regards,

*Charlie*

Re: [NEW] Getting Involved Vacancies

2014-11-13 Thread Keith I Myers
I am really liking the contents of the page. Roles or Contributions would
likely be the best wording.

Unfortunately as I do not have time to assist with development tasks, I
would not mind getting more involved with Q/A Testing and even some
Marketing/Social Media and PR.

Great idea Ali, but the name isnt really right, Vacancies doesnt really imply
the correct meaning here. I'm sure we can come up with something
better!

GNOME has GNOME Love and Every detail matters and Ubuntu has papercuts, while
they are all oriented towards development/packaging/bug fixing,
perhaps we can come up with some semi-creative along similar lines.

Long story short, the 2nd new thing for this cycle will be:

 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved/Vacancies

It is empty now as I just created it.

This page suppose to make life easier for everyone. Anyone can go

Hopefully tomorrow, I could finish it :)

Re: [NEW] Getting Involved Vacancies

2014-10-31 Thread Alfredo Hernández
Yes, man! How come we didn't come up with this before? It's a great way to
recruit people for specific roles in the Teams.

Best regards.

[NEW] Getting Involved Vacancies

2014-10-31 Thread Ali/amjjawad
Hi all,

These new ideas are keeping me away from bed. I should be sleeping now but
I am not so better to hurry up, send this email and go to bed :)

Long story short, the 2nd new thing for this cycle will be:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved/Vacancies

It is empty now as I just created it.

This page suppose to make life easier for everyone. Anyone can go through
the list of the needed roles, choose the area he/she is more interested in
and join.

Hopefully tomorrow, I could finish it :)

Good ZzZz night ...

[New Look] Getting Involved Page

2014-01-05 Thread Ali Linx (amjjawad)
Hi,

Today, my target was finishing some pending stuff like: Translation of
Ubuntu GNOME and Adding new Section for Google Hangout Meeting (paper work
- Wiki work). Then, I decided to do something different and new because I
was so bored.

Before:
Getting Involved Page was:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved?action=recall&rev=33

So long
So complicated to read and follow
And maybe so hard to understand as well

And, instead of explaining how to join our team and help, we might push
away some users because of the long path.

NOW:
The page became not only simple and short but I included a new technique
(Go Back Button and Move Forward Button) and the reader will go back to the
very same line before clicking any internal link on that page.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/GettingInvolved

I have spent many hours to work on this, line by line. I don't think it
could be better than this at this stage :)

That is not everything.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/SubTeams - has been updated :)

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/Community - New page has been created :)

Now, it would be very easy to update these 3 pages instead of having one
huge page.

Now, the red alert is ON and must shut down my machine and have some rest.
Later, I might have a look at Community Page to make things there easier
and shorter :)

I have promised everyone to work on the Quality of this team before
anything else and this is just the beginning.

Enjoy!

Getting Involved - More Information

2013-09-19 Thread Elias Ps
Hello,

first of, congratulations for your work on Ubuntu GNOME. I've been waiting
for an Ubuntu derivative using GNOME Shell, I believe with that done, the
Ubuntu flavours family is now completed.

My name is Elias <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/eliasps>, I am from Greece and I
am a satisfied Ubuntu GNOME user since (remix) 12.10, Ubuntu user since
2007 and Ubuntu Member since July of 2013.

I saw the most recent announcement (
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-gnome/2013-September/000728.html)
about the need for contributors and I am interested in getting involved.

The main areas I could contribute the most are in:
1) Testing
2) Documentation and Wiki
3) Communications and Marketing

Searching around the wiki, I realized that there are many complete
instructions about the testing part, so no questions there.

But I would like to have more information about the other two parts I'm
interested in. Information on what contributing to those areas involve,
what someone has to do. Are there any teams coordinating the effort and
assigning tasks?
In general, I would like details about the processes.

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. :)

Best regards,
Elias
