Αυτό είναι μια ευχάριστη έκπληξη για το θέμα των upgrades, με αυτόν τον τρόπο θα μπορούμε να τα δοκιμάζουμε χωρίς καμία αλλαγή στο σύστημά μας.
-------- Original Message -------- Subject: kvm sandbox upgrade tester Date: Fri, 8 Aug 2008 14:05:36 +0200 From: Michael Vogt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi, I would like to ask for feedback/testing of the kvm "sandbox-upgrader" package that is currently in my ppa at: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mvo/ubuntu hardy main It contains two scripts that need to be run with sudo: - sandbox-clone-to-vm - sandbox-test-upgrade the "sandbox-clone-to-vm" will create a (slightly simplified) clone of your system that you can then use kvm to boot into and do whatever you want (e.g. testing a upgrade with the regular "update-manager -d" GUI). It will not copy the content of your home dir (also it creates it so that you can log in). The sandbox-test-upgrade will perform the cloning in your current working directory (so make sure you have enough room and be patient if you have a big rootfs) and then run a non-interactive upgrade test and copy the result. For testing, you will need a kvm capable system (run "kvm" to see if that works), bandwidth, patience (the cloning and the download of the upgrade will take a bit) and some diskspace, it clones your full system (excluding most of /home/). The UI is not that great currently (the progress reporting etc are not really good yet) but the functionatliy should be there. While it is running a vnc console will be available at localhost:0 for further inspection. It is still in development, so you should be careful with it and not run it on your production server just yet. I'm interessted in getting feedback how it works for you.
