[Bug 116348] Banshee Crashes While playing a Song and clicking a Recommended Artist

2007-05-22 Thread Sam Williams
Public bug reported:

The Bug title pretty much says it all. While playing a set of songs I
decided to click on one of the Recommended Artists and Banshee
generated crashed and generated an error. I will included two files.
The first called BansheeException.txt contains the error information
that was presented in the error window dialog. The second file called
BanseeTrace.txt was generated by running Banshee with the --trace option
set. These files will be attached once the bug is opened.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't
fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You
may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the
problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.

[Bug 116139] k3b 1.0 and 1.0.1 and video-DVDs

2007-05-22 Thread SanderJ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: k3b

When I create video DVDs with k3b 1.0 and 1.0.1 on Kubuntu 7.04 from
VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS sources, I get video DVDs which my Samsung Home
Theater HT-Q20 can't read, saying

  PLAY PROHIBITED PLEASE, CHECK DISC

With ubuntu 6.10 with k3b 0.12.17 on the same hardware and same media, I
get perfect video-DVDs.

With graveman on kubuntu 7.04 I also get good video-DVDs.

I think the Samsung Home Theater HT-Q20 is quite picky about the format
of the video-DVDs as my el-cheapo CyberHome *can* play the k3b 1.0+
DVDs, but the point is that k3b 1.0+ burns the DVDs in a different way
which causes this problem.

Something else, possibly related: with k3b 1.0+, the resulting DVDs have
lowercase directory names, ie video_ts instead of VIDEO_TS. I can
workaround this with mount option -o map=off, but it still is a
'signal'.

I've contacted Sebastian Trueg on this, but no real progress so far.

[Bug 116136] Upgrade Tool crashes during removal of redundant packages

[Bug 116141] JPEG printed-to-file as PDF is huge

2007-05-22 Thread John Pye
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

There seems to be a lack of a good tool in GNOME for bunching scanned
pages together into a PDF.

I thought that I could do it with EOG, then use pdftk to concatenate the
pages in to a single PDF.

But the resulting PDFs are huge, many times the size of the original
JPEG.

It seems that printing a JPEG to a PDF file in EOG causes the image
compression to be lost.

Can EOG be fixed, or is there some other tools that's better in GNOME?

I ended up using OpenOffice but that's a too-big stick for the job
really.

[Bug 88899] Re: cpufreq locked in slowest speed

2007-05-22 Thread Gabriel Ambuehl
I think I just managed to trigger this without suspending etc.

I cold-booting, had the full spectrum of frequencies, decided to run the
tpfancontrol script (which overrides the inbuilt fan control logic) and
the cpufreq spectrum got locked between 1Ghz and 1Ghz:

current policy: frequency should be within 1000 MHz and 1000 MHz.

Running cpufreq-set doesn't change anything.

[Bug 116151] (Feisty final) k3b says Success whereas mkisofs failed

2007-05-22 Thread Nicolas_Raoul
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: k3b

1) I launched a DVD burn of a directory.
2) My fault: I removed a file from this directory (a .swp file, by exiting vim).
3) mkisofs is surprised that a file has disappeared, and fails, which is normal.

What I would have expected:
4a) k3b says that mkisofs failed and declares the burn as a failure.
What really happened:
4b) k3b goes on burning and says the burn was a success.

The attached screenshot shows everything.

[Bug 116136] Re: Upgrade Tool crashes during removal of redundant packages

2007-05-22 Thread SageMassa
Thats quite alright these things can be frustrating lets see if we cant
gather some useful information to debut this problem.

I assume you will want to give this another try...lets try with no other
programs running (attempt to work around the issue)
also lets get a back trace when we do this, it will be highly useful in
correcting this problem Instructions below.
1. Add the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list:
  deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs feisty main universe

2. Import Martin's public key to your keyring:
 wget -q
http://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0x0DE7276D5E0577F2;
-O- | sudo apt-key add -

3. Then run
  sudo apt-get update
to update your package list.

4. The debug symbol packages have the '-dbgsym' suffix attached, so to install
the debug symbols for the package 'yelp', you run:
  sudo apt-get install yelp-dbgsym

Then please make a Backtrace.

   1. Make sure the GNU Debugger is installed.
  sudo apt-get install gdb

   2. Start the program under control of gdb:
  gdb program 21 | tee gdb-program.txt
(gdb) handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint
  (gdb) set pagination 0
  (gdb) run arguments, if any

   3. The program will start. Perform any actions necessary to reproduce the
crash
   4. Retrieve a backtrace of the crash:
  (gdb) backtrace
  (gdb) info registers
  (gdb) thread apply all backtrace
  (gdb) quit

   5. Attach the complete output from GDB, contained in
gdb-program.txt, in your bug report.

[Bug 63324] Re: exceptions.UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character

2007-05-22 Thread John A Meinel
I believe the problem is that Cygwin only supports ASCII encoding. It
doesn't understand non-ascii filenames.

So if you have non-ascii filenames, you need to use the native win32
bzr, not cygwin.

I think it would be useful if we had a better way of handling errors
like this, so I'm not closing the bug just yet

[Bug 93315] Re: Mousetrapper USB mouse non-functional

2007-05-22 Thread Raffe
Hi,

I have more info:

- I am running my Ubuntu in a Dell C400 laptop which is connected to a
docking station

- It has a touchpad. This is the output from dmesg:
[17179601.092000] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 5.7, id: 0x9b46b1, caps:
0x804793/0x0

- This morning I decided to test an old Microsoft usb IntelliMouse
Explorer. At the beginning, I couldn't get it working when I plugged it
to the laptop's usb port or to one of the two in the docking station. To
be sure that nothing was wrong with the laptop's usb port, I connected
my Sandisk Cruzer micro flash memory. It worked perfectly. Then and only
then, the IntelliMouse started working when I plugged it to the usb
port. This is the lsusb output with the IntelliMouse connected:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 045e:0047 Microsoft Corp. IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0
Bus 001 Device 001: ID :
Bus 003 Device 001: ID :
Bus 002 Device 001: ID :

- With the hope of seeing my MouseTrapper working again, I replaced the
IntelliMouse with the MouseTrapper. This is the output of lsusb without
any of them:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID :
Bus 003 Device 001: ID :
Bus 002 Device 001: ID :

And this is lsusb's output when I connected my MouseTrapper:

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0d24:0004
Bus 001 Device 001: ID :
Bus 003 Device 001: ID :
Bus 002 Device 001: ID :

It didn't work. I checked dmesg and it starts giving out messages like
this: (a lot of them)

usb 1-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 19
[17181156.68] usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[17181156.696000] input: Trapper Data AB MouseTrapper Electronic as
/class/input/input144
[17181156.696000] input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [Trapper Data AB MouseTrapper
Electronic] on usb-:00:1d.0-1
[17181157.772000] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 19

I thought all this might be interesting for you to know.
Regards.

[Bug 74647] Re: php5-gd not using bundled GD library

2007-05-22 Thread Ondřej Surý
Using bundled libraries is security hell. It will never happen in
Debian. And I very much doubt that it will happen in Ubuntu.

Correct way is to push those changes to upstream GD library. And it's a
WIP at least according to
http://www.libgd.org/FAQ_PHP#How_do_I_get_gd_to_work_with_PHP.3F

[Bug 50353] Re: Cannot install PDO and PDO Drivers in PHP5

2007-05-22 Thread Ondřej Surý
This is fixed in Ubuntu 7.04 version of php5.
See
http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_contents.pl?searchmode=filelistword=php5-mysqlversion=feistyarch=i386

And no, there is no need for separate packages (as in php5-pdo-oracle).
