am working on some templates for booklets and will send it to the scribus
template people

in the meanwhile i made a very simple spreadsheet that would help people
figure out the booklet sequencing and printing - specifically for a5
booklets printed back to back on a4 pages. I can send it to whoever is
interested to check out and see if it can be made into something better.

Btw, you know of any commercial softwiare which will do this job.

commercial dtp software :) and i don't remember what software (adobe
pagemaker i think it was) am not sure but maybe even m$ office has a booklet
feature (anyone??)

Hello All,

My first thanks to all those who are getting actively involved to make
Project Day a grand success. Neverthless, we still need a lot of
volunteers/supprt from this wonderful community. Hopefully Jono or
Mark will be coming in and rocking foss.in. Fingers crossed.

I second this. G0SUB or Soumyadip are the right people to handle it as
they have the right balance (Debian-Ubuntu ;-) )

Can one of you guys confirm please?

[ubuntu-in] Dual Core and Core 2 duo?

2007-10-05 Thread nan budh
Friends,
Is there any significant difference, from user's point of view, in laptops
having Intel dual core and Core 2 duo? I wish to use my laptop for internet
reading, office apps, programming with python, django etc. Although i know that
core 2 duo is made from ground up for better performance but is it really great
or is it just a hype? The Core 2 duo models are pretty expensive,i think 10,000
more than dual core processor. I am getting an HP laptop dual core for around
32000/- (orginal around 43000/- or something). Should i go for it?
Some guys are quite happy with celeron laptop models too.
(i am reminded of the fact that everything used to get done even on pentium
III, albeit a few seconds slower ). What say u?

Advance thanks for any feedback

Write to scribus mailing list or talk to scribus programmers on IRC.
They will be willing to help you by either guiding you how to do it or
writing a add on for scribus. Also, please add this requirement as
feature request.
Btw, you know of any commercial software which will do this job.
Would like to have a look at the process and understand what exactly
is being done.

Ack! Please do not mention MS Publisher in the same sentence as
DTP software. Even compared to Scribus, it is the pits. Don't ask
me, ask any DTP professional, not your colleagues.

Was needing advice on a good DTP programme .

Scribus is good but it does not have enough templates -

my specific requirement was a programme that would generate a booklet
automatically.

For eg if i need to produce a booklet of 20 pages - the programme should
be capable of adjusting the printing - of back to back pages such that
when the final set is put together its all in order.

Right now in scribus i need to do this by hand .

any suggestions

thanks
