I can send it to whoever is interested to check out and see if it can be made into something better. Btw, you know of any commercial softwiare which will do this job. > Would like to have a look at the process and understand what exactly > is being done. actually its been quite a while since i either made a booklet or used commercial dtp software :) and i don't remember what software (adobe pagemaker i think it was) am not sure but maybe even m$ office has a booklet feature (anyone??) regards ram regards > VK > > > > > thanks > > ram > > > > > > -- > > ubuntu-in mailing list > > ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com > > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in > > > > > -- > The hidden harmony is better than the obvious!! > > -- > ubuntu-in mailing list > ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in > -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
Re: [ubuntu-in] Debian-Ubuntu Project Status
Hello All, My first thanks to all those who are getting actively involved to make Project Day a grand success. Neverthless, we still need a lot of volunteers/supprt from this wonderful community. Hopefully Jono or Mark will be coming in and rocking foss.in. Fingers crossed. G0SUB or Soumyadip are the right people to handle it as they have the right balance (Debian-Ubuntu ;-) ) Can one of you guys confirm please? [ubuntu-in] Dual Core and Core 2 duo?
Friends, Is there any significant difference, from user's point of view, in laptops having Intel dual core and Core 2 duo? I wish to use my laptop for internet reading, office apps, programming with python, django etc. Although i know that core 2 duo is made from ground up for better performance but is it really great or is it just a hype? The Core 2 duo models are pretty expensive,i think 10,000 more than dual core processor. I am getting an HP laptop dual core for around 32000/- (orginal around 43000/- or something). Should i go for it? Some guys are quite happy with celeron laptop models too. (i am reminded of the fact that everything used to get done even on pentium III, albeit a few seconds slower ). What say u? Advance thanks for any feedback - Unlimited freedom, unlimited storage. Get it now-- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

Please do not mention MS Publisher in the same sentence as DTP software. Even compared to Scribus, it is the pits. Don't ask me, ask any DTP professional, not your colleagues. Something similar to MS Publisher but in open source domain would be wonderful. MS Publisher is quite easy to use but its microsoft and that is a sore thing. Some of my colleagues use it and i would like it very much if i can confidently say," Guys, you dont actually need MS Publisher, you could use xyz from open source". Scribus is good but it does not have enough templates - my specific requirement was a programme that would generate a booklet automatically. For eg if i need to produce a booklet of 20 pages - the programme should be capable of adjusting the printing - of back to back pages such that when the final set is put together its all in order. Right now in scribus i need to do this by hand . any suggestions thanks ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in - Forgot the famous last words?
