Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 203349] Re: Broken plural forms in KDE

2009-01-20 Thread Flames_in_Paradise
8.04  KDE 3.5.10  D3lphin

Actually I feel quite sorry about the current development on this bug.
D3lphin has become an english peninsula within my german localised
distro during the last language pack update. Looking up /usr/share
/locale-langpack/de/LC_MESSAGES/ The file d3lphin.mo this file is
completely missing now.

This application seems to be completely given up by the maintainer at alpha
status? Trying to go to the homepage of the developer I get a warning on the
Certificate in Firefox. I will n o t open it.

Why is this not communicated?

Just hope this does not become security measures one day.

Thanks for looking at this subject.

With kind regards

[Bug 238469] Re: valgrind reports errors in libc 2.8.90

2009-01-20 Thread Hervé Fache
I get loads of these in my Valgrind regression test since upgrading to
Jaunty:

 Conditional jump or move depends on uninitialised value(s)
   _dl_relocate_object (in /lib/ld-2.9.so)
   dl_main (in /lib/ld-2.9.so)
   _dl_sysdep_start (in /lib/ld-2.9.so)
   _dl_start (in /lib/ld-2.9.so)
   (within /lib/ld-2.9.so)

This is either Valgrind that needs updating (as for libc 2.8) or the libc
that's got a problem...

Either way, this is really annoying as I cannot see the tree for the
forest.

Anyway, this bug is still in Jaunty Alpha 3 Live CD. I will try to

[Bug 319224] [NEW] firefox mouse button 1 bug

2009-01-20 Thread israelihawk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

hi all,

whenever i use firefox, sometimes when i click in the menu, instead of opening
the menu, it somehow creates a selection click, and chooses the first option in
that menu.
for example, by pressing the mouse on the Bookmarks Tab, i automatically get
the 'add bookmark' window. or by clicking the history tab, i automatically find
myself in the last page...

very weird, but everything else works :)

[Bug 318670] Re: CVE 2008-5718 in netatalk

2009-01-20 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Hi,

I took a look at the debdiffs. Here are my comments:

netatalk uses patch systems. netatalk in Dapper uses cdbs, while the others use
quilt. You have applied a patch directly to source when you need to use the
patch systems. See:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/PatchSystems

Also, could you name the updates according to the guidelines from here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityUpdateProcedures

eg:
Dapper = 2.0.3-3ubuntu1.1
Gutsy = 2.0.3-6ubuntu1.1
Hardy = 2.0.3-9ubuntu0.1
Intrepid = 2.0.3-11ubuntu1.8.10.1

[Bug 256296] Re: USB id 0af0:6911 should use hso and not 'option' driver

2009-01-20 Thread Ban
i'm still having the 'hanging' problem on an updated 8.10 with a Option
Icon 225 (GIO225)

I used the udev rule in combination with rezero to load the hso driver for this
device, that works great.
i can use the connection in networkmanager, but as soon as the connection stops
(for example because of signal loss),
the systems hangs completely and has to be forcibly powered off

uname reports 2.6.27-9-generic (32bit)
modinfo reports hso version is 1.2
deviceid is 0af0:6971

i'm getting no logging at all when the crash occurs, so i'm at a loss on
how to provide more info.

[Bug 262751] Re: Webalizer package needs updated to current release.

2009-01-20 Thread Ruben Romero
I have noticed that there are some real improvements in the new version.
And the new version is a drop-in replacement of the old one.

New color patch: http://brouits.free.fr/webalizer-usercolor/

See more: ftp://ftp.mrunix.net/pub/webalizer/CHANGES

Please do update this package for Jaunty!

Not security... usual stable release update ... and even for that you

[Bug 319228] [NEW] elantech touchpad displays oddly granular movement (jaunty)

2009-01-20 Thread GiuseppeVerde
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I need to get a video of this to show you precisely what I mean. Unlike
in Intrepid, my Elantech touchpad (eee 901) doesn't move smoothly.
Rather, it tends to hop in units of a few pixels. I don't know
precisely how many or if it's the same number every time, but it's
certainly not smooth or one pixel; it causes cut-n-paste or targeted
mousing impossible, because when I try to click on something in
particular, I can sometimes end up hopping around it instead of ever
getting to it.

The problem may be worse when moving slowly than moving quickly; I don't
have a good way to test this.

The problem may go away with the updated Sympatics driver; I'll let you
know when it lands. I think it should still work without the Synaptics
driver, but perhaps I'm wrong.

[Bug 280997] Re: solid-bluetooth needs update for bluez 4.x

2009-01-20 Thread Jonathan Thomas
It needs an updated kdebase-workspace, which was released this morning:

This bug was fixed in the package kdebase-workspace - 4:4.1.96-0ubuntu4

---
kdebase-workspace (4:4.1.96-0ubuntu4) jaunty; urgency=low

  [ Jonathan Thomas ]
  * Build-dep against kdepimlibs5-dev, add the plasma rss dataengine to the
packaging. (LP: #315155)

  [ Michael Casadevall ]
   * Readded patches left out by last merge.
   * debian/control
 - Added build-dep on kdepimlibs5-dev
   * debian/patches/kubuntu_53_change_qreals_in_kephal.diff
 - Works around a but in qdbuscpp2xml which causes qreals
   in the return time to be left out. A bug with Trolltech
   has been filed, but is currently not visibly on their
   bug tracker. This should be removed once the bug has
   been fixed.
   * kubuntu_54_correct_qreal_fuzzy_matches.diff
 - Corrected fuzzy matches with qreals by explicately casting
   them to doubles so GCC knows which function to use instead
   of bailing with ambiguous function
 - Was dropped, merged upstream

  [ Anthony Mercatante ]
  * Added kubuntu_56_solid_changes_kdebluetooth.diff:
- Fixes kdebluetooth4 0.3 build for 4.2.
- Patch from 4.3 svn trunk

Note that the kdebluetooth app still needs to be updated before it will
start working, and the changes have not been applied to Intrepid. (But
they will be) But as it stands, solid-bluetooth has been updated for
bluez 0.4. The fix for Intrepid will be tracked in the Intrepid task
below the main kdebase-workspace one.

[Bug 319230] [NEW] kipi-plugins contains DNG Converter that embeds non-free Adobe library and omits license text

2009-01-20 Thread Lars Wirzenius
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kipi-plugins

This affects the kipi-plugins package in jaunty, version
0.2.0~beta6-0ubuntu5.

The package contains the DNG Converter, which uses the Adobe DNG SDK,
a library for reading and writing DNG files, see
dngconverter/dngwriter/extra/dng_sdk in the unpacked source tree. These
files have the following header:

/*/
// Copyright 2006 Adobe Systems Incorporated
// All Rights Reserved.
//
// NOTICE: Adobe permits you to use, modify, and distribute this file in
// accordance with the terms of the Adobe license agreement accompanying it.
/*/

The first problem is that as far as I can find, the Adobe license
agreement is not included in the source tree, and that in itself would
seem to be a problem.

Some searching brings up
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/dng/dng_sdk_eula_win.html which
would seem to be the license in question. This license is not free
according the Debian Free Software Guidelines (I asked one of the Debian
ftpmasters about it). It might be free enough for the Ubuntu universe
component. However, the license text should still be included in the
source tree, with the DNG SDK.
