On Fri, 2009-01-30 at 11:30 +, Richard Seguin wrote: More specifically, in that link there will be another to obtain a valgrind log, please attach that as a separate attachment Well, yeah. There is definitely a memory leak in pidgin: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND 31463 brian 20 0 971m 41m 20m S1 1.5 4:36.65 pidgin My experience with valgrind however is that it dramatically slows down applications -- to the point of unusability. Unfortunately, to that effort, I use pidgin all day and I need it to be responsive. I will give it a go, but I'm afraid I will not stick it out if it's wy too slow. Yeah. Tried it. Have been waiting literally minutes for the application to even start but the windows have yet to even be painted and I have a memcheck process consuming nearly 100% of a core here. I cannot function like this all day. Oh wait. OK. It finally came up. I let it run for a while. It was very slow. One memcheck process ended up eating up 1GB of memory -- the max I allow on my system here and got killed. And then unfortunately, the command was started again, overwriting the valgrind.log. I'm afraid this is an unworkable situation for me to try to be productive in. Hopefully somebody else can oblige. FWIW, my execution command line was: $ G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log pidgin b. -- segfault https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321258 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 216857] Re: Kernel 22.16 does not startup
Dear Michele, I am not a Linux wizzard. I just tried out ubuntu and saw that it did not work. I also have realized that, the essential material to gather infromation lack, like with mozilla, where every bug gets its automatic posting, and the program gathers info. I have not the knowledge, not the time to gather all the info you need. I am also reinstalling windows 2000 on my older hardware, as there are too many things that work sometimes. Re: [Bug 224105] Re: Thunderbird freezes on downloading mail
Three separate physical servers (two accounts go to virtual servers on the same host box). It doesn't seem to be related to a time out issue, the error trapping seems to handle that fine. The spell check bug isn't quite the same as reported there. I'm using the English dictionary, it will sometimes hang when I click on the replace button (doesn't seem to care which word is being replaced). It will not reproduce as hard as I've tried g. It takes a forced quit to recover. The frequency of both problems has decreased drastically since the original report, but still occur once in a blue moon. Other than that, I'm a real happy camper g. [Bug 323197] [NEW] Pidgin has resource leak
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin This seems to be an interaction between KDE4.X's sound system, Firefox playing flash audio, and Pidgin. In any case it's pidgin that shows the leak (and eventually wigs out) so I'm filing under pidgin Over time (less than 24 hours) the number of open pipes (and open wav sounds) will grow to 1024, leading to pidgin becoming unable to log conversations or open URLs. [Bug 309650] Re: network manager is not running although connected to Internet
to get the devices managed, do as follows: open the file /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-setting.conf and set manage=true after performing the solution from the previous comment and this one, i got my NM .7 (intrepid) running again and connection to any desired network. -- network manager is not running although connected to Internet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 309650] Re: network manager is not running although connected to Internet
I don't think this entry relates to a bug in NM. Rather settings on the user's computer cause NM to malfunction. By following the steps in this report (and the link therein) one should be able to get NM up and running again, without much effort. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = videokunst (videokunst) Status: Incomplete = Fix Committed -- network manager is not running although connected to Internet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
