thank you for your bug report, that's not a bug though, the keyring where your password are stored would not be secure if it could be read in a programmatic way without you entering a secret so it needs to be unlocked once by entering a password, either on the login screen or in the session when you try to access it for the first time there. [Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close
Something will be implemented on the right side of the windows in the future. Let's suppose that it will happen during 10.10 development. I think that there are two possibilities. 1 - Both RC and final releases of Lucid will have the buttons on the right. This alpha3-beta1-beta2 phase is used to experiment the new position of the buttons. This position will be back early in 10.10 development, and we will see the new functions on the right side of the windows then. 2 - Lucid is released with the buttons on the left-side, and eventually it will have the new functions on the right side (10.04.2 maybe). I don't know wich would be the best, because I don't know the new functions. -- [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 93847] Re: Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor
On my system (Ubuntu 9.10 upgraded from 9.04 clean install) with Intel C2D T5600 (1.83 GHz) I get CPU usage 6-8% for System Monitor alone when I just left it running. It is quite high, especially compared to Win as many people above mentioned (even higher than my Firefox full of addons with couple of tabs opened), but the real problem is when I switch to Resources card/tab (with those nice usage graphs:). Than the CPU usage goes to 100% for one core and I guess the only think which keeps my machine from freezing totally is that System Monitor is not able to use multicore CPUs so I can switch back to Procesess tab or close the System Monitor. It is not so serious bug I agree, but it's not looking good especially with the new Ubuntu is lightware slogan. It is also quite annoying when you just want to check how many MB you downloaded/uploaded on Resources card/tab. I think the nice smooth graphs may be the cause, so it should be optimised or replaced by some less resource consuming graphs even if those would not look so nice (just my opinion). -- Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93847 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 485551] Re: XSane is not compatible any more with libsane in Karmic (9.10)
My 64bit laptop running (Lucid Lynx 10.04) Simple Scan and libsane 1.0.20 worked fine on my father's Canon LiDE 50 scanner. He was having all sorts of problems on his i386 desktop XP installation, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to try and ween him onto nutritious Ubuntu 9.10. Unfortunately the scanner wouldn't work correctly. Some googling later (I hadn't come across this post) I decided to upgrade the i386 to Lucid 10.04. However the problems still persisted: The backend Simple Scan, scans the document but it scans it at twice the resolution, or put it another way it puts an A4 page on half of the Simple Scan output and then hits the stops and tries to do what it thinks is the other half by trying to scan past the stops (as it did on 9.10). Xsane backend doesn't illuminate the lamp or drive the scanner along the document. Having found this post, I followed the instructions by ih and replaced libsane with the earlier version but with exactly the same outcome. Are there configuration settings that can be adjusted so that Simple Scan doesn't try and drive through the end stops? -- XSane is not compatible any more with libsane in Karmic (9.10) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485551 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 539204] Re: Keyboard input needed to change grub-install device w/Lucid Live install
I took a look at this yesterday, but I'm not entirely sure yet why it is breaking. I've removed the clear() call on the combobox, which gets rid of the error, but leaves a third cellrender packed in the comboboxentry. I have no idea where that is coming from, but reusing it instead of packing the first cellrenderer gives the intended behavior. That said, I intend to get to the bottom of this and fix it properly. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = ubuntu-10.04-beta-2 ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Evan Dandrea (ev) -- Keyboard input needed to change grub-install device w/Lucid Live install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539204 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks! ** Changed in: system-tools-backends (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Chris Coulson (chrisccoulson) -- users-admin (System-Administration-Users and Groups) overwrites group file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 539456] [NEW] Alternative installer cannot create first partition smaller than 16.8G
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer Installer on lucid seems to be bit broken, I can't create /boot partition smaller than 16.8GB on 1T disk with alternative installer, text mode. I tried giving size as 200M, 200MB, 1%, 1G and creating primary in beginning of disk. All resulting 16.8G partition 16.8G from beginning. Used cd-image is from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily/20100315/lucid-alternate-amd64.iso Tried creating partition with ext2, ext3, ext4, same results. However, when there is that 16.8G partition with 16.8G offset, I can create another partition with correct size. So bug happens only when creating first partition to empty disk? ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: iso-testing lucid -- Alternative installer cannot create first partition smaller than 16.8G https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539456 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 539455] [NEW] Nautilus doesn't show file info when it prompts for replacing
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 487035 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/487035 Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When copying or moving files Nautilus doesn't show file information like date or size if it asks to overwrite or skip a file, it's impossible to decide without that information. This version of Nautilus asks a filed named ... already exists. do you want to replace it?, when it could perfectly show a little more than the existence of a file with the same name. Note that this bug report is just about Nautilus not showing *information* in the dialogue windows that asks whether to replace a file. It is not the same as launchpad bug 263338, that concerns more sophisticated issues. [Bug 487035] Re: Nautilus doesn't show file infos if file exists and ask to overwrite or skip
I have filed another bug about not displaying file information. The present bug report also mentions some other sophisticated features that are found in bug #263338 However, just showing information in the overwritting prompts is a much simpler issue. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus - when copying or moving files Nautilus doesn't show file information like date or size if it asks to overwrite or skip a file, it's impossible to decide without that information. - also if i copy or move files from different locations to one folder with Nautilus and there is already a file with the same name (but other content) it is not possible to tell Nautilus to rename the file (and all following conflicts). + when copying or moving files Nautilus doesn't show file information like + date or size if it asks to overwrite or skip a file, it's impossible to + decide without that information. + + ( Edited by another user: The following part is invalid as it is a + duplicate of bug #263338 ) + + also if i copy or move files from different locations to one folder with + Nautilus and there is already a file with the same name (but other + content) it is not possible to tell Nautilus to rename the file (and all + following conflicts). ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- Nautilus doesn't show file infos if file exists and ask to overwrite or skip https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/487035 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
