I believe it is the default behavior of Grub2 in Ubuntu. i.e. It does not show the grub menu when you do not have a dual boot setup. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/1004#No%20delay%20for%20boot%20menu%20with%20GRUB%202 AND https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#GRUB%20vs%20GRUB%202 - *On a new install of Ubuntu 9.10 with no other installed operating system, GRUB 2 will boot directly to the login prompt or Desktop. No menu will be displayed.* - *Hold down SHIFT to display the menu during boot (formerly ESC in GRUB legacy).* *The second link above has a lot of information on how Grub2 works and differs from Grub (Legacy)* * * *Check out this ubuntuforums link as well for more information :* *http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275* * * * * *Hope that helps !* Thanks & Regards, Nandan. -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

Chaitanya, Please follow mailing list guidelines and do not break flow of the conversation. Also strip unnecessary text while replying. The reason you do not see grub menu is because to reduce unnecessary delay in loading the OS in single boot setups. You can press shift key while booting to show grub menu.
