[Bug 597761] [NEW] Replies are sometimes HTML
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunderbird When replying to a message, Thunderbird sometimes opens the editor for HTML messages rather than for plain text - even though I have unchecked new messages as HTML in the account configuration. When creating a new message, the plain text editor is correctly opened. Apparently, this problem somehow depends on the message I try to reply to; for the same message, the same editor mode is always used. It does not appear to depend on whether the sender is in the Address Book or not, as my Address Book is empty and I have disabled collection of sender addresses. Also, I have not been able to establish a pattern between this problem and the format of the message I try to reply to. As a workaround, I can shift-click reply, but that is annoyning in the long run. [Bug 576001] Re: kernel 2.6.32-32 makes machine hang during boot
I just want to add that I unfortunately have not been able to test this further (not even using -generic instead of -server kernels) since the machines in question needed to go into production. We went back to Ubuntu 9.10 for that. If I'm lucky I can maybe get one or two of these machines back in probably a few weeks to try again. Depends on how the project goes. In the meantime I see that 2.6.32-22 is still the current version of the kernel image so I don't suppose anything changed here. Charles, are you possibly able to reboot your machine a few times (maybe five or more) in a row and see if the problems really don't reappear? When I had been testing I found that the occasional reboot (a day or two apart) generally did not trigger the hang but a few consecutive reboots one immediately after the other would. This could of course be total coincidence or BS but I really haven't been able to find any patterns here. Grasping at straws, as it were. Maybe of note: I also did pretty much exactly what you describe in comment #18, more than a few times: a clean install and then aptitude safe-upgrade (not dist-upgrade). Alas, a few reboots later the machine would hang again. [Bug 595388] Re: starting kvm guests with libvirt on virthost startup doesn't wait till all dependencies are available
Hi, thanks for the report. I assume you have libvirt set up to start these VMs automatically, and what you are asking is for the startup scripts to wait for two minutes after boot before starting the VMs? There are three ways I would consider going about this. One is to simply mark the VMs to not start up automatically. You could start them manually, or create another job in /etc/init/ which waits 2 minutes and then starts the VMS. Another is to edit /etc/init/libvirt-bin.conf to make libvirt wait to start up altogether. If the aoe mounts have their own upstart job which works correctly, then you can make it depend on that, or you can simply add a 'prestart exec sleep 3m' to amke it wait 3 minutes until after boot. You might want to talk to upstart folks for the best way to do this. Another is to patch libvirt to add the capability to wait to auto-start VMs. You can discuss this with upstream at libvir-l...@redhat.com. The best solution is the second one, particularly if there is an aoe upstart job which emits a completion event when the mounts are available. -- starting kvm guests with libvirt on virthost startup doesn't wait till all dependencies are available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/595388 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 597772] [NEW] indicator applet does not always display sound volume icon
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-sound I have erratic behaviour on a freshly installed Ubuntu 10.04 i386 (installed using alternate ISO, from CD). The indicator applet initially did not display a sound icon. It had the following icons: 1. The battery icon (as this is a Fujitsu/Siemens S7020 laptop) 2. The envelope icon (gateway to chat/email/broadcast account) I installed the pulseaudio-volume-control package (pavucontrol 0.9.9-1). Didn't seem to make any difference. Logged out of my session, logged back in. Volume icon was not there. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 409222, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- message warning: Your script possibly relies on a session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3 isn't displayed in Firefox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/409222 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 592745] Re: kernel panic - kernel stack corrupted
Jeremy, Do I understand right that there is a kernel bug associated with this issue which is to be included in the next update? Is there a patch someplace that I can download and compile myself, or a precompiled one with the patch anywhere? -- kernel panic - kernel stack corrupted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 507072] Re: Add support for freenode ircd-seven CAP command
Current Terence's implementation violates CAP specs. Now xchat looks only to first capability returned by server. So, LS :identify-msg multi-prefix works, but LS :multi-prefix identify-msg doesn't. This patch makes xchat to look the whole cap list, not only the first one. ** Patch added: xchat.patch http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50810676/xchat.patch -- Add support for freenode ircd-seven CAP command https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 597472] Re: Browsing is challenging in Music Store
I see what you mean, though when I use it in Banshee (don't know about other music players), I know I'm using a webpage because it FEELS like a webpage, and I expect it to do things that webpages/browsers can do. On the other hand, I see what you mean about not wanting to reinvent features of the browser within a website. But when I'm using it, I constantly DO want to be able to refresh for all the same reasons that I want to refresh on a browser: the page doesn't always load correctly; I want to see if something has changed in the download progress bar; the connection is dropped; I'm waiting for something to happen on the server side (like the music getting transfered to u1 from 7d; etc. As for forward, if it feels like a website, people are going to go looking for the forward button. When it's not there, we're going to get frustrated. I know what was my experience. As for the back button, and the home buttons, it took me eons to find them because they aren't native icons, and because I don't look for browser controls within the website itself. They're elegant and subtle, but they took me FOREVER to find. So long that I decided they must not exist, and that I should file a bug. -- Browsing is challenging in Music Store https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/597472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes
I've identified at least one cause in my situation to be the wireless card/driver. I'm running 2.6.32-21-generic-pae with the latest driver for my wireless card (realtek RTL8192). This same driver is built into later kernels. A few days ago I enabled/disabled the wireless interface trying to get onto a network and my machine completely locked up. -- Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
