Well, what about submitting the updated translation to Debian?

I check for already reported bugs at

anything.

Please replace it with the attached translation ASAP.

an older one, we think that is would be better if the translation will
be committed directly to the source.

[Bug 597761] [NEW] Replies are sometimes HTML

2010-06-23 Thread Jørgen Elgaard Larsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

When replying to a message, Thunderbird sometimes opens the editor for
HTML messages rather than for plain text - even though I have unchecked
new messages as HTML in the account configuration.

When creating a new message, the plain text editor is correctly opened.

Apparently, this problem somehow depends on the message I try to reply
to; for the same message, the same editor mode is always used. It does
not appear to depend on whether the sender is in the Address Book or
not, as my Address Book is empty and I have disabled collection of
sender addresses.

Also, I have not been able to establish a pattern between this problem
and the format of the message I try to reply to.

As a workaround, I can shift-click reply, but that is annoyning in the
long run.

[Bug 576001] Re: kernel 2.6.32-32 makes machine hang during boot

2010-06-23 Thread Andreas Ntaflos
I just want to add that I unfortunately have not been able to test this
further (not even using -generic instead of -server kernels) since the
machines in question needed to go into production. We went back to
Ubuntu 9.10 for that. If I'm lucky I can maybe get one or two of these
machines back in probably a few weeks to try again. Depends on how the
project goes.

In the meantime I see that 2.6.32-22 is still the current version of the
kernel image so I don't suppose anything changed here.

Charles, are you possibly able to reboot your machine a few times (maybe
five or more) in a row and see if the problems really don't reappear?
When I had been testing I found that the occasional reboot (a day or two
apart) generally did not trigger the hang but a few consecutive reboots
one immediately after the other would. This could of course be total
coincidence or BS but I really haven't been able to find any patterns
here. Grasping at straws, as it were.

Maybe of note: I also did pretty much exactly what you describe in
comment #18, more than a few times: a clean install and then aptitude
safe-upgrade (not dist-upgrade). Alas, a few reboots later the machine
would hang again.

Unfortunately I cannot really contribute much more at this point.

2010-06-23 Thread wub
Yet Another Acer Aspire One 751h owner - I really love this little
beast, except that I now despise the GMA 500 graphics. My system cannot
boot, after following update instructions described above in comment
#40, (a version that I was certain applied to Lucid). I am
contemplating reinstalling Lucid, even though I will be stuck in a
distorted graphics mode, with a screen almost too dark to read, since I
find I like Lucid so much more that Karmic (where everything worked,
eventually).

I'm glad someone has a functional driver for the GMA 500 under Lucid. I
see no one has commented since mid-May. Is this thread obsolete?

Hi Jaspar, thanks for reporting this bug and thanks also to Robert for

duplicate of bug 596443, so I will mark it as such. Please check that
bug for more information about when the fix will be released, and also
note that there is a workaround described there there that you can use

[Bug 597743] Re: [Lucid] kernel 2.6.32-22 module i2c-core missing

2010-06-23 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi ingo,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release
of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the
following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It
will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 597743

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 597765] [NEW] Window manager does not start, must run compiz --replace

2010-06-23 Thread purecharger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After upgrading to 10.04 from 9.10, no window manager is started when I
login to GNOME via GDM. The applications in my startup items do launch,
but they have no window decoration and I cannot switch input to any of
them. To fix this, I have to switch to the console and run 'compiz
--replace' to get a window manager.

If I choose Failsafe GNOME from the login window, I get a window
manager.

This did not happen with Ubuntu 9.10

[Bug 597763] [NEW] IDLE: raises Exception TclError in a special case

2010-06-23 Thread snapy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python3.1

To reproduce the bug, use the following class:

class x(object):
TEST = hello
THE_MAXIMUM = 55

def __init__(self, a, b):
self.a = 3
self.b = test

and set the cursor behind test. After that use SHIFT + UP (so from 3
to incl. test will be marked) and after that use SHIFT + POS1, which
will produce this exception:

This will appear in all latest Python IDLEs (2.6.4, 3.1.1+). In my
opinion this bug will not only appear in this case but rather in
different ones. I attached a screenshot.

[Bug 489647] Re: A contact stays offline while he is online

I've got the same problem in python-papyon 0.4.8-0ubuntu1 in Lucid. My
colleague uses the Microsoft Messenger for Mac (so it's not just iChat)
and I can't see him or initialise conversations with him when he's
online. If he logs in using Adium I can see him fine.

[Bug 225395] Re: Hardy fails to format partitions during install from LiveCD

2010-06-23 Thread Phillip Susi
There seems to be insufficient information here to describe the bug, and
it is very old. Since 8.04 is being phased out, I am closing the bug.
If this is still an issue with 10.04 please reopen it and describe
exactly what you tried to do, what you expected to happen, and what
actually happened.

[Bug 202490] Re: [Feature Request] Provide a driver for Ricoh R5C822 xD card reader

It was posted on linux-hotp...@vger, but no reaction yet.

It is still not enough for out of box experience.
Another rule for udisk in needed.

[Bug 157165] Re: [needs-packaging] Oracle DBXML

2010-06-23 Thread Gregory Burd
Hello, I'm the product manager over at Oracle in the Berkeley DB group.
I created a Launchpad project for BDB XML https://launchpad.net
/berkeley-db-xml and I'm generally available for questions, help, etc on
this and other BDB related topics.

Unless there is a really good reason to use the xmldb name I'd prefer if we
called the packages:
* berkeley-dbxml
* berkeley-dbxml-java
* berkeley-dbxml-php
* berkeley-dbxml-python
* berkeley-dbxml-tcl

I know, it's a nit pick... :)

[Bug 595388] Re: starting kvm guests with libvirt on virthost startup doesn't wait till all dependencies are available

2010-06-23 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi,

thanks for the report. I assume you have libvirt set up to start these VMs
automatically, and what you are asking is for the startup scripts to wait for
two minutes after boot before starting the VMs?

There are three ways I would consider going about this.

One is to simply mark the VMs to not start up automatically. You could start
them manually, or create another job in /etc/init/ which waits 2 minutes and
then starts the VMS.

Another is to edit /etc/init/libvirt-bin.conf to make libvirt wait to start up
altogether. If the aoe mounts have their own upstart job which works
correctly, then you can make it depend on that, or you can simply add a
'prestart exec sleep 3m' to amke it wait 3 minutes until after boot. You
might want to talk to upstart folks for the best way to do this.

Another is to patch libvirt to add the capability to wait to auto-start VMs.
You can discuss this with upstream at libvir-l...@redhat.com.

The best solution is the second one, particularly if there is an aoe upstart
job which emits a completion event when the mounts are available.

[Bug 597771] [NEW] twinview: windows maximize across both monitors

2010-06-23 Thread purecharger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After upgrading to 10.04 from 9.10, the window manager (compiz) does not
treat my 2 displays as it did with 9.10. Now windows maximize across
both screens, they do not snap to the screen boundary, my lower task bar
(where apps get minimized to) extends across both monitors without
appearing: by that I mean I dont see it on the 2nd monitor, but I can
not resize a window into the area that it would take up on the 2nd
monitor.

The alt+tab switcher and all windows that launch in the center of the
screen are split across the monitors.

I have my 2 screens in both nvidia-xconfig and CCSM defined as: 0,0+0+0
and 0,1920+0+0

[Bug 597772] [NEW] indicator applet does not always display sound volume icon

2010-06-23 Thread Alexandros Papadopoulos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

I have erratic behaviour on a freshly installed Ubuntu 10.04 i386
(installed using alternate ISO, from CD).

The indicator applet initially did not display a sound icon. It had the
following icons:
1. The battery icon (as this is a Fujitsu/Siemens S7020 laptop)
2. The envelope icon (gateway to chat/email/broadcast account)

I installed the pulseaudio-volume-control package (pavucontrol 0.9.9-1).
Didn't seem to make any difference. Logged out of my session, logged back
in. Volume icon was not there.

Then I fiddled with the indicator applet itself, removing it and re-
adding it to the panel, un-locking it and moving it around in the panel.
At some point the sound icon appeared.

indicator-sound 0.2.3-0ubuntu1

Sorry I cannot be certain what exact action made the icon appear. I
believe it should have been there in the first place.

2010-06-23 Thread drew212
Could you please generate an apport crash report for this? A crash report will
help in resolving your problem.
You can enable apport for one instance like this in the terminal:
sudo service apport start force_start=1

I am marking this invalid as apport will open a new bug when the crash
is generated. Please include any relevant information from this report
in the new bug report. If you cannot generate a crash report, you can
reset the status of this one to new and we will try something else. Feel
free to subscribe me to the new bug report so I can assist you further.

[Bug 554099] Re: qualcomm gobi (2000) mobile broadband module not working after upgrade to lucid

2010-06-23 Thread Simon Hirscher
For the record: I found the uqcn.mbn file in several of the numbered
directories in C:\Program Files (x86)\QUALCOMM\Images\Lenovo\ and took the one
which appeared the most up-to-date (that is, the one with the latest
last-modified date). Rebooted. Works! (Without having to explicitly load the
firmware after start up.)
I still don't know why it had been working with only two firmware files after
the first reboot but as long as it keeps working with all three of them I think
I won't investigate this further.

@Bill:
Thanks for your comment,

can you try to cherry-pick this upstream patch (cook it in its minimal
form), and try to make it applies to the current version in lucid? Then,
next step is to post the patch here and a valid test case to ensure it's
fixed.

[Bug 504853] Re: browser stops itsself without reason

2010-06-23 Thread drew212
Could you please generate an apport crash report for this? A crash report will
help in resolving your problem.
You can enable apport for one instance like this in the terminal:
sudo service apport start force_start=1

I am marking this invalid as apport will open a new bug when the crash
is generated. Please include any relevant information from this report
in the new bug report. If you cannot generate a crash report, you can
reset the status of this one to new and we will try something else. Feel
free to subscribe me to the new bug report so I can assist you further.

Just tested on main Lucid system, and it works fine there, hence I would

[Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)

2010-06-23 Thread Gerhard Maag
Renzo's PPA fix works for me, but it still takes upwards of 45 minutes
just to copy a cd. That's just nuts. Sound Juicer extracts a cd in 4
minutes. For me Brasero remains nearly unusable, even with the fix.
I'd just a soon exact to .wav and burn the tracks as a new project. It
isn't a 1:1 copy, but it doesn't take all day.

Re: [Bug 587026] [NEW] New Hebrew translation

2010-06-23 Thread Lior Kaplan
I didn't understand what you wrote.

You should take your latest translation, compare it to the Debian's one
(attached he.po from synaptic 0.63.1), and send a patch to Debian. When you
do that, let me know the Debian bug number.

You're welcome to contact me privately if you have questions or

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a
lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you
can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload

[Bug 597472] Re: Browsing is challenging in Music Store

2010-06-23 Thread mlissner
I see what you mean, though when I use it in Banshee (don't know about
other music players), I know I'm using a webpage because it FEELS like a
webpage, and I expect it to do things that webpages/browsers can do. On
the other hand, I see what you mean about not wanting to reinvent
features of the browser within a website.

But when I'm using it, I constantly DO want to be able to refresh for
all the same reasons that I want to refresh on a browser: the page
doesn't always load correctly; I want to see if something has changed in
the download progress bar; the connection is dropped; I'm waiting for
something to happen on the server side (like the music getting
transfered to u1 from 7d; etc.

As for forward, if it feels like a website, people are going to go
looking for the forward button. When it's not there, we're going to get
frustrated. I know what was my experience.

As for the back button, and the home buttons, it took me eons to find
them because they aren't native icons, and because I don't look for
browser controls within the website itself. They're elegant and subtle,
but they took me FOREVER to find. So long that I decided they must not
exist, and that I should file a bug.
