[ubuntu-in] Help on setting up home network
Hi, I have 2 laptops and 1 PC at home running Ubuntu. All these are connected to a wireless router for the internet usage. When I try to copy a file from a shared folder of other laptop, the whole of data passes through the router. This affects the internet bandwidth within the network. Is there a way to access the shared files without necessarily going through the router and also without affecting the internet connectivity. Re: [ubuntu-in] Off Topic: Running Laptop/Desktop for a long time?
Would not be a problem unless you are not doing a repeated usage of Flash memory and Harddisk during your uptime. The flash memories have a limited number of write cycles(But I dont think flash memory will be used much). Each sectors on the hard disk will have a limited number of R/W cycles (usually lot more than we would need). But when you keep the system on running applications like torrents, then the hard disk could get affected after some time. Restarting X doesnt work. Only a reboot works. Any other ideas, solutions and causes are welcome. Also I do not use suspend or Hibernate nor have made any changes to the mouse properties or pointer and use a regular 2button +wheel mouse with USB connector. -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
